280 Tasting Notes
A spiced black tea with cinnamon at the front and black pepper at the back. The combination was interesting enough to keep drinking, but isn’t something I’d keep stocked in my cupboard.

Flavors: Black Pepper, Cinnamon
This was nice enough for an earl grey. The black tea was a stronger flavor, while the other flavors contributing to the earl grey were more subdued. I’d expect all of it to be strong, given the name? It’s probably just as well, since earl grey isn’t something I’m drawn to in general.

Creme Brulee is not my thing, so I wasn’t terribly surprised this tea wasn’t either. The sweetness was light, and I could kind of get the almond. I smelled the cinnamon more than I tasted it. The aftertaste had a surprising floral note, which was less surprising when I noticed jasmine flowers at the end of the ingredients list.
This was interesting, just not my preference.

I almost didn’t even review this at all because what can I say about it? It’s a peppermint tea. It was refreshing and light, and it’s what I’m looking for when I want peppermint, but it’s also not something that stands out in the sea of mint options.

DAVIDsTEA advent, day 11
[After an overwhelming week of work followed by a few days sick, I’m ready to resume the daunting task of reviewing too many advents. Unfortunately I didn’t keep up with drinking them very well either, so I can see this easily continuing until the end of the month. I suppose that’s one way that having repeats across the two advent calendars is nice, but also I seriously need to stop buying these.]
Flavors: Peppermint
A strong hibiscus fruit drink that’s nice and tart. It’s not my favorite fruit blend due to the particular berry mixture, but it’s a solid one. I liked it better hot than I expected. I wonder if I might have rated it better were it not for last night’s cup of a similar, preferable hibiscus blend.

Flavors: Berry, Hibiscus, Tart
Real apple cider is my favorite part of fall. Unfortunately, it’s easy to get the flavor wrong – and this one was very wrong.
It didn’t have a strong flavor overall while drinking. Both the spices and apple were detectable but weak. The artificial sweetness lingered, and the aftertaste was a manufactured apple candy made with sugar substitutes. I wanted to give it an honest try, but I poured it out before I could get through half the cup.

(also DAVIDsTEA caffeine free advent, day 20 – but I’m not drinking this again)
Flavors: Artificial
This was exactly what I needed to end the day yesterday. I love a tart, bold hibiscus/fruit blend. I often prefer these iced, but I wanted a hot tea last night; it worked well and still felt refreshing. I didn’t notice the stevia either, which is ideal for me (well, not including it is ideal, but here we are).

Flavors: Fruity, Hibiscus, Tart
I was excited for this tea because I’ve loved a different earl grey with vanilla and was ready for that kind of warmth this afternoon. I’ve been struggling through this tea for hours at this point, and I think it’s time to call it. I find the scent harsh. It’s okay while sipping; not quite creamy or vanilla. The aftertaste is reminiscent of licorice – that’s the killer for me. I could give it another round with milk and see if it’s any better, but I still have another advent tea here at 9:30pm, so it’s over.

Earl Grey has to be juuuuuust right for me, and my next advent tea is an Earl. I am hoping it goes well. Whose do you like, and why? I prefer a Keemun or white base, and not too much bergamot.
I like a strong spice flavor, and this immediately reminded me more of a mulled cider with the level of spice blend in the cup. While it’s certainly fruity and spiced, it wasn’t as tart as I would have expected for hibiscus & cranberry. That emerges more as the cup cools. If I could get that tart flavor along with the spice while it’s hot, this would be a must-buy; for now, it’s very good.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Clove, Nutmeg
This is a perfectly good tea that just doesn’t work for my personal tastes. If you like a lemon ginger, I do think you should try this!
The scent reminds me of my early tea days, when I assumed that boxes in the grocery store aisle were the only options and I just took anything that said it had lemon.
It’s a simple tea, well-balanced with both lemon and ginger, though both the lemongrass and ginger are strong. I see a lot of positives in this tea, but I just don’t care to have a cup of lemon/ginger in general, so my rating is low.
