From two leaves and a bud

A traditional chai that starts with true Assam tea (not cheap “blending tea”) and adds only the true ingredients of chai: Cinnamon, Clove, and Cardamom. Fabulous with milk and honey!

In my last tasting note I mentioned how the next infusion I would add milk and sugar to help give the chai some oomph.

So they give you free drinks on the boat as long as you gamble. I got myself a mudslide. Then, I had the brilliant idea to toss it into my already brewed chai. The result? Uh..not much. Now my chai just tastes like mudslide. I can’t taste any chai in here. But it was the second infusion, and the chai wasn’t very potent to start with. It was worth a try.

Thank you hannaspring for this Sample Tea!

Comfort tea is needed again today.

Colorado has really been through some tough times lately.

First the fires… 2 lives and 720 homes lost.
Now a massacre.
A college student came here last year to go to grad school. WHY did he kill?

Why?…. is one of the themes that runs through life.
“Why?” And, “It’s not fair.”

My children used to say that to me. “Mom, it’s not fair.”
“Yes, Aaron (or Anna), life is not fair and never will be fair.”

Pain, suffering and death does not respect who is inflicted.
In the same way noone complains about an unexpected, undeserved reward. We delight in the good fortunes that arise in life without feeling bad about it .

Today is very sad though. I want to take the opportunity to tell the ones I love how much I value them.

I’ve been drinking Chai for comfort. I like the ginger and the scent.
I picked up the fragrant teabag which was all lumpy with spices…and brewed 3 minutes.
The scent was so full and sweet. I could smell the orange with the cardamom, ginger, clove and cinnamon.
There was a good bite of spice without bitterness.
I added almond milk and sweetening which almost doubled the volume in my mug.
Yum nom as many Steepsters say.
I can see why a large package of these sweet Chai tea bags would be nice to have available for home or to take on the road.
I honestly do like this Chai! A warming hug type of tea.
(I’d love to give more oomph to this review…but I’m in a mood that is too quiet right now.)

Might be a good time to join with all who oppose evil in the World… and lift up the families who have lost loved ones. The people still in the hospital and critical… so many who are in shock.

(I will pray…as the vigils (watchfullness) continue….lighting a candle)

We Steepsters are people who care.

For those who died. Memory Eternal! http://youtu.be/VIxQ_B3Wpzg
(The music is Rachmaninoffs full Vespers…very beautiful…I heard it live 2 years ago.)

I was so very saddened to learn about this. My thoughts go out to those in Colorado.

I honestly just don’t understand why this would ever cross someone’s mind. What could be the purpose of it? Senseless killings like that don’t serve a purpose. My heart to all of those who have suffered in this needless tragedy.

Kittenna

I only found out about this a few hours ago. I just can’t understand this type of random violence. I mean, I don’t approve of violence in any form, but on this scale it’s unbelievably tragic. :(

Peace be with you. Peace be with us all….

Scharp

I was very surprised when I heard that on the news this morning (I’m in Colorado now). I’ll be praying!

Bonnie

Such good hearts here in this tea community!

Ninavampi

I am so sorry that this happened… All of my positive thoughts and care to the families and friends who had to suffer through this. No one should have to live through something this hard.

Indigobloom

I was away when this happened, so I just found out this morning. What horrible things our race is capable of… makes me so very sad. My thoughts and hugs to the families affected :(

I hardly ever drink chai. I don’t hate it. I just never crave it. This one makes me think Constant Comment light. I like CC so I am OK with that. This has a touch of pepperiness. Don’t hate it. Don’t love it. It’s chai.

I really like this! The Chai flavors are subtle and the orange is just 1 step ahead of the spices! This was very nice!

I decided I needed a chai latte today!

The spices in this blend are not as complex as in some other blends but it is still very flavorful and rich tasting.

A delicious treat for this early evening!

I enjoy the spiciness of this chai. As with all my tea, a touch of sugar in the raw helps bring out its more subtle flavors and the overall effect is quite nice!

I have found that if the water is too hot or if you steep too long the leaves burn and bitter flavors will dominate the cup. So go easy and find your sweet spot. My times and temps are estimates as I’m out of stock at the moment. Your mileage may vary! :)

I’ve heard of this company but not seen it in shops or restaurants local to me. On my last day in WY, I spotted a sampler in the convenience store attached to our inn. I snagged a couple bags to take home. It’s a cool summer morning and I felt that chai would do to start off the day.
Steeped for 5 minutes and finally sipped about 5 minutes later. As usual, no additives used to alter the base tea. I love the scents of cinnamon, cardamon, and cloves. Found it to be smooth and comforting. I could see myself stepping it up with a dash of milk and honey over ice.

Another random tea bag someone gave me over the holidays. I grabbed it thinking it was a straight black this morning and only realized after tearing open the packet that it’s chai. Ah well—it’s cold and windy today, so chai seems fitting.

I never find myself craving chai spices, and I’m not sure why, because I usually enjoy them. This one is heavy on the cinnamon, with the other flavors (mostly clove and cardamom, to my palate) playing second fiddle. It’s pretty nice, but maybe a bit too cinnamon-forward. That’s all I can say.

I have this in loose leaf and it is really nice. Spicy without being overwhelming. Probably my favorite chai blend.

For a bagged chai, this is pretty decent. not too spicy for me, pretty warming. I start off the day with an Oregon Chai powdered drink so I’m comparing it to that because that is my favourite chai (I know I know) and this is not as enjoyable but I’m liking this one too. Only have the one bag from a sampler pack though and I won’t be getting more of it.
