I have always wanted to find a tea as good as the tea they serve at the nearby Middle Eastern restaurant. Finally I’ve found it! This seems to have finally fulfilled the feel of what I imagine the original must have tasted long ago. The mint is much more subtle than most mint teas. Very good for soothing a tummy. Makes a rich full-bodied cup with a relaxing aroma. Only moderate caffeine so I can drink it most of the day just avoiding after dinner. It can be brewed multiple times but it becomes more bitter. A famous proverb about the tea – “The first glass is as gentle as life, the second glass as strong as love and the third glass is as bitter as death…”. I do add a little sweetener. Although it is traditionally served hot, it makes a very refreshing iced tea.

Received this today from Cheri ^^ Thank you again!

This Morrocan mint is more minty than smoky and I don’t taste the hints of the Gunpowder that I caught in the one that carol who sent me which arrived before this one. It’s a good taste but I’m missing some of the depth the other one had which I wonder if that has to do with the tea or the prep. I prepped the first one by means of how I read online to do it… simmered in a pot for like 8 minutes then added sugar in it and strained into cups. The second, this one, I prepped according to the bag’s instructions: 175 degree water, 3 minutes, added a little sugar and served. I think the more intense flavor was more my style. All I can really taste in this one is the mint aspect. It’s good but I liked the other more. :) Must try other cup of this with that prep method.

Glad to see you got it. I don’t sweeten mine usually, and it ends with a really nice gunpowder…

Arshness

Do you usually steep it 3 minutes? The first one I got the water a bit hotter than intended and brewed it longer but I found the gunpowder taste was louder that way. GOSH the mint is tasty tho!!!

Cheri

I think I usually do one at about 2 minutes, and then another at closer to 3. I love the spearmint in this tea. It’s so good. It also cold steeps really, really well.

I needed something comforting and yet energizing this morning. Last night was not a good night. I went to go to bed and I heard a lot of scratching in the bedroom ceiling from the attic. And as I got closer, I could also hear baby animal sounds. And then scratching got a lot louder and the mama animal sounded big. Probably a raccoon. In my attic. Right over my bedroom. With babies. YUCK YUCK YUCK YUCK YUCKY!!! So I was a little (read: a lot) creeped out. I slept on the couch. Uncomfortably. We called the wild animal removal service that was recommended (based on my 1am Facebook post) and they can’t come until Monday.

Cheri is not a happy camper.

Cheri also didn’t sleep well last night, and in that last hour before my alarm went off when I was sleeping really restlessly, I was having horrible dreams about baby raccoons and my cats…and baby raccoons in my childhood bedroom closet (never happened, but my childhood bedroom was in my current house in my dream) which was really upsetting.

So I was trying to figure out what tea would be good to have on my way to work this morning, and this is what I chose. I love spearmint. I really like this tea. It’s got the right balance between the two with a nice spearmint and green flavor, followed by that almost metallic tang from the gunpowder.

Oh my god that sounds positively terrifying!

But baby raccoons are so cute! But I guess I wouldn’t want them in my attic either… I just hope wild animal service puts them back safely in nature…with their mommy.

Cheri

That is what is supposed to happen. They will trap the mom at the point she is coming and going, and if the babies are big enough, they’ll follow her. If they’re too small (I think they might have been just born yesterday) they’ll go in and get them. Either way, they go with the mom. I just want them gone. Scratching, thumping, and baby animal sounds over my bed while I’m trying to sleep is not comfortable. At all.

T&C TTB 6/23
I really messed this one up, I over steeped it 30+min and then decided to ice it. I at least got enough of a nice spearmint taste that next time when brewed correctly I have no doubt I will like it.

Thank you carol who for sharing this! I have been curious about it since I love mint and like gunpowder. I think I will pick some up the next time I’m at the Whole Foods that carries it.
