It’s really missing that specific chamomile character, in my opinion. I agree with you: it’s more woody than floral.

I was craving some fruit tea but I found out that my box of fruit teas is almost empty. The teas which are in, aren’t what I have been looking for. I would like some citrusy, light tea, not filled with hibiscus. So, I went to my herbal box and found there this tea bag. It sounded quite refreshing, contains a spearmint, peppermint but also lemongrass, so it will be refreshing right?

Ehh. No. Actually I don’t even know how to describe the flavour after recommended 5 minutes steep. It’s quite heavy floral and yes, I would guess the chamomile. But then, some stingy note appears on my tongue which is probably mint. Lemongrass? Where? Cardboard aftertaste.

And so many other ingredients there. Sarsaparilla, I just remember it is favourite by some, but again I forgot, how it should be like?!

Ehm, I am glad to finishing the mug. I believe I have received it last summer from Amy, from postcrossing; so thank you! but it’s not my jam. Afterall, as most of chamomile and its blends.

This one isn’t a favorite with me, either.

I am glad to hear and read that I am not only one.

I really like this one.
It reminds me of Sleepytime tea.
The sarsaparilla and spearmint take some of the dullness out of plain chamomile, and I get notes of vanilla bean, too.
I know it’s got a bedtime tea reputation, but I drink chamomile throughout the day sometimes, just because I like it.

Nope nope nope. Can’t get the thought of lightly minty, medicinal-tasting chamomile fruit punch out of my head. I mean, I’m drinking it but making a sour face.

During my Master’s year I drank Chamomile tea multiple times every day for several months. Those days are long gone :D

AJRimmer

That’s too bad you don’t like this one! I don’t notice a fruit flavor at all – just chamomile and mint, which I feel go nicely together. Differing tastes, I guess!

Togo: so a PhD in theoretical physics is more chill than the Master’s?

AJRimmer: I’m guessing the hibiscus didn’t mix well with the chamomile on my tastebuds. It really did remind me of fruit punch. Glad you like it, though!

Togo

Oh definitely! The Master’s program I did was the most intense year of my life by far :D

Mastress Alita

That reminds me of how I like mint, and I like hibi, but I couldn’t stand the Bigelow Mint Medley that mixed mint with hibi. Something about those two flavors together on my palate just went “Nope.”

Glad to hear it’s gotten easier for you, Togo :)

Mastress Alita: I thought of your Mint Medley comment while drinking this.

I’ve had a pitcher of this in my fridge to take to work this week. I like chamomile, but I definitely prefer it with other things mixed in, so this was perfect! I had to use four teabags when I usually only need three for a pitcher, but that’s my only complaint. The flavor kind of stays in your mouth. I added some sugar, so it tastes mostly sweet and a little minty. It’s mild, but very…thirst-quenching?

I’m just not a fan. There’s a medicinal/menthol note that I just can not stand.

The sarsaparilla in this blend is lovely. The blend isn’t extraordinary, but it makes a nice herbal tisane for times when you don’t want caffeine.

Mastress Alita

I normally can’t stand the taste of chamomile, but this actually sounds like it is blended with enough stuff that it might be okay for me. Sarsparilla? Yum!

There is a lot of chamomile still, I wouldn’t suggest it for those who don’t like chamomile. If you want a sarsaparilla blend, try Earth’s Herbals (https://www.earthsherbal.com/store/p19/Rootbeer_Tea.html). IT is the best rootbeer tea I’ve tried yet. It has some chamomile, but not enough to really taste it. The sarsaparilla is strong, some vanilla flavour, anise, and spearmint leaf. It is my go-to herbal when I can’t sleep. It’s worth it just to order the one tin and pay the shipping (that’s how good it is!)

People in other houses always have what I feel to be weird tea selections, and then seem confused by them.

I asked my aunt what non-caffeinated tea she had, and she dug out this and some lemon zinger, shrugging at me. “I guess this is it,” she said.

It’s… your… house? Don’t you have your tea cupboard of three teas memorized?

It’s possible she just keeps it on hand for guests. This is how I am about coffee (I keep some Folgers and a cheap-ass coffee pot on hand), so I get it. Maybe she’s not a tea person.

Anyway, this was a really nice tea. It tasted a lot like Sleepytime Tea. Chamomile was the leader of the party, with some nice flowers, too.

It might have helped me fall asleep, except the house had no air conditioning and my dog was allowed to share a bed with me. He kept huffing around, wiggling, and shuffling. Oh, and he hogged the bottom of the bed. Somehow. He’s 30 pounds. Between his relentless, shifty bed-hoggery and sweat oozing from my skin, I got maybe four hours of sleep.

BUT SO CUTE:

I’m willing to forgive.

Tastes like chamomile tea. Nothing special, but good to calm down with after three cups of caffeinated stuff.
