Organic African Nectar

My friend and I love drinking tea together. While we share similar tastes, we often have differing views on certain blends. I gave her a couple of teas I wasn’t crazy about and she gave me one of these bags to try. In her words, this tea “tastes like dirt. It’s terrible.” Looking at these other reviews, I can see that she’s not alone! The scent is mostly rooibos (not terribly woody in my opinion) with a hint of something fruity (think Creme Brulee from DAVIDsTEA). Nectar is a very appropriate word to describe this scent. As for the taste, the wood notes are most prominent. There is a fruity bit, but it is quickly smothered by the rooibos. I was expecting something far worse, but it’s actually not that bad. The finish is terrible, however. It almost feels like you are swallowing small wood chips (sounds appealing, I know). I’m glad to have tried this tea and I will finish the cup, but won’t purchase in the future.

I’m not sure what this smells like but I don’t like it. It’s sort of sweet, sort of sickly and sort of fruity. I can’t say it tastes any better. Squeamish people look away: it almost tastes like what I imagine a gangrenous wound might taste like.

But I can’t say how much of this is the fault of the blend or how much might be personal taste; I’m not a fan of rooibos.

I don’t know what to say about this tea other than that I liked it just fine. I didn’t make it myself. I simply tried it at a tea and coffee shop, so the best brewing and steeping times are still unknown to me. Anyway, I will be purchasing this tea soon and I plan to give it a more thorough evaluation then.

Fantastic rooibos! While easy to over steep, this tea has a near perfect balance of hibiscus that leaves a delightful aftertaste. While not a subtle tea, I recommend experiementing with creamer if you’re up for a bolder taste.

I’m shocked I am the first to log this as I am somewhat new to Might Leaf but – here goes! This smells great. It brews FAST…I was a little worried it was going to be too rooibossy but it’s quite nice. I don’t think of the tropics when I drink it but it’s still pleasant. It’s a bit floral to taste but I wouldn’t have thought about the floral taste if I didn’t read the description first. I’m drinking this hot but think it would be better iced. Still good for a bagged rooibos that isn’t too rooibossy.

Okay, this tea is quite mute at some ends but not all for some. The first brew over hot water at 208-210 degrees at ten minutes to fifteen for an extra kick( An experience I have learned drinking rooibos). It tasted quite floral and crisp although the rooibos was found to be lacking apart from its tangyness. A couple mintues into the first brew, the rooibos still did not presently itself much further to my anticipation. Only after when the tea has really cool down to a point being lukewarm is when the rooibos can be tasted but not as much. A good overall, just needs the rooibos to come out a bit:)

I was disappointed here. Mighty Leaf can make excellent teas. This one simply seemed to lack any flavor—it was a bit like steeping saw dust. I really prefer bold flavor, so perhaps I’ve missed something here.

I first tried this tea years ago when frequenting coffee shops for their internet access. I remember really liking it. I liked it with cream. I liked it with sugar. I ordered it often. I believe it was my first rooibos. When I saw it in the store recently, I could not resist. Scooped it up, took it home, brewed it, siped it and… huh? I used to like this so much more! It still has that unique blended fruity taste, kind of bubblegum like, that I can’t quite put a good name too, but it is so much less exciting. I’m bothered by the dry feeling left in my mouth after every sip, something I have heard others mention with rooibos. It’s still good a good tea, but it is kind of like a relationship that you try again and it just doesn’t feel right. Not like the first time. Sigh

Love it! I love everything about it, except the price. I can’t track it down outside of a Mighty Leaf sampler pack anywhere other than online, and then the price gets… a tad ridiculous.

Soft, fruity flavor. I think nectar prescribes this perfectly. The smell is divine though. The hint of hibiscus is quite the nice touch.
