From Lupicia

JARDIN SAUVAGE is an unoxidized green rooibos tea scented with sweet ripe mangoes and fresh citrus. This caffeine-free rooibos is rich in minerals and can be enjoyed by anyone, any time of the day. We named this tea JARDIN SAUVAGE (in French, roughly translated: untouched, wild garden) for the natural, untouched beauty of green rooibos.

This is hands down my favorite tea ever. Sweet but not overpowering, the liqueur is beautiful and the smell is divine! I sincerely wish I had a never-ending supply of Jardin Sauvage- an impulse buy at the Lupicia store in San Francisco had me hooked, and I’ve been craving it ever since! It’s perfect if you like sweet teas, but if you’re not big on sweetness in your tea you might be less enthusiastic than I…

Green roobios mango and citrus fruits. You can see the green roobios and the other fruits. It mainly smells like a a tropical tea. I enjoyed the smell. And steeped it up. The taste had a twang to it that I did not like though.

I was first interested in this just by the smell. It’s definitely what I think of when I think “tropical fruits.” Way more so than Lupicia’s normal tropical fruits flavors. At a five minute steep, it brews up an orange-red color, and tastes almost exactly like candied or dried mangos. I found it already sweet and fruity without any additions. The rooibos only got woody if I let it sit for too long or used too much.

I drank this warm, but for kicks, tried it iced and found it equally delicious, but a tad bit less sweet.

I picked this bag at random today for my morning cuppa and didn’t realize it was rooibos, but the taste was so nice I didn’t mind the lack of caffeine.

It’s a green rooibos which I prefer to red personally, because the red often has a “wet dog” note in it. I’m not sure why this is, but it’s been consistent across brands and price ranges. It’s not 100%, but occurs often enough so I generally stay away from rooibos.

I am happy to report that Jardin Sauvage doesn’t have this issue and contains a lovely, natural-tasting fruit forward blend on top of the green rooibos. The mango is distinct (and does contain added sugar, according to Lupicia) as well as a hint of other more generic “fruit.”

On the whole, it’s well-balanced and very pleasant for an afternoon/evening sip. While I like chamomile “evening” blends, I feel it’s overused in herbals and they all begin to taste the same, so this is a nice alternative.

We love this one, and I definitely avoid red rooibos, too! Green rooibos has been consistently lovely and carries flavorings well and unobtrusively which makes me happy as it expands my afternoon and evening cuppa selections!

I really, really like this tea. I am having the final cup of this batch (sipdown!) hot tonight as a little treat, but I also like it as a sweet iced tea in summer.

I have cooked and washed dishes most of the day as we are having a small family gathering at my son’s house and we are celebrating his birthday and having an early Easter lunch as well since we won’t be together for Easter.

I am tired and sore and decided to take a little pre-bed break and treat myself. Peppermint salve on sore and tired feet. Lilac candle lit in my spare room, hot tea, and Raspberry Rose and Almond Florentines from Fortnum and Mason. I have never had Florentines before that I recall but I sure do hope to have them again someday. These are delicious.

The green rooibos base is a nice carrier for the fruity mango. I love having an evening tea that isn’t just chamomile or mint! I am glad to have a sipdown on the books, but this one is definitely getting reordered.

You earned that break!

Thanks Cameron for sending this along!

This is fruity with mostly melon and mango. Perhaps as it cools, more flavour will pop out.

My bestie gave me this for Christmas and gave me my first ever pouch of it, too. It makes a wicked good sweet iced tea!

Ooh, good to know! Thanks!

I fell asleep, leaving a hot cup to cool on my nightstand overnight. The cold cup this morning had the impression of a sugary sweetness like that of dried fruit, which is in this blend, or maybe even an overripe melon, you know? All I could taste was mango – the same mango as Hi-Chew candies – and maybe a little bit of melon influence. The mineral quality of the green rooibos kept the flavor from being cloying. I echo the sentiment of a lot of Steepsters in that I think green rooibos is a great blending component.

I also made a hot cup for Kiki last night. Because I passed out, I was unable to get her real-time opinion. She said this morning that she really liked it because it was so fruity. “Very nice!”

Thank you Cameron B for this sample :) Will you be back this winter?

#tiffanys2021sipdown Tea #221 overall / Tea #1 for June
Tuesday 6/1 — Jardin Sauvage by Lupicia. This was a sample from Cameron B. Thank you! I cold brewed this in a glass jar for a few days in the fridge. I loved it – was so refreshing with the fruity taste and green rooibos (which I like okay-maybe-kinda-better then red?). I wouldn’t say I’ll be adding this to my collection but was such a nice cold cuppa and first impression of Lupicia.

Hmm this one isn’t as sweet and clear as green rooibos blends sometimes are. The fruit here tastes sort of like citrus, but there’s something a little muddled about it. It’s best cold, and the cold brewed resteep was pleasant as well. It’s fine, though I’m not sure it distinguishes itself from other less expensive brands. The flavors mellow a little as it sits in the fridge. I don’t find myself reaching for this one as often as other green rooibos blends. There’s something about the flavor that I don’t love, but I can’t really put my finger on it. I used up the rest of it with a large pitcher for the fridge.

I have loved this tea for over ten years. It’s so rare to find a flavoured green rooibos and this one is sweet and delicious. Perfect iced, and beautiful warm. I hope it’s around for many decades to come.
