Origin: Shizuoka

Species: Yabukita

Tasting Profile:
Highly aromatic tea. The Matcha contributes its natural sweetness to the full nutty flavor of the Genmaicha.

Den’s Preferred Brewing:
Water: 4oz boiled
Leaves: 2 grams or 1 rounded teaspoon
Steep: 30 sec
2nd Cup: Water Boiled; Steep 15 sec

For a cup of Iced Tea: Put 50% more amount of tea leaves into a teapot. Steep as directed for hot tea. Once you brew it, put ices into the cup to lock in the aroma.

The small dry leaves and little pieces of toasted rice and popcorn are all coated graciously in matcha. It smells very toasty and nutty.

Brewing this according to Den’s instructions.

First infusion gave me a radioactively green cup that smelled a lot like the dry leaves do. It tastes surprisingly less toasty than it smells. There is a very prominent toasted aftertaste, but while sipping It tastes very green. Probably the matcha. I don’t know If I like genmaicha or not. I enjoy drinking it but I don’t see myself ordering it in the near future.

Kruthy no like Genmaicha! Bleech. I’ll give genmaicha another chance sometime, but the addition of the roasted rice or whatever it is just does nothing for me at this time. I don’t like the aroma and I don’t like the taste.

Drank this tea for breakfast this morning. Amazing, as always. I go back and forth on whether I prefer this or Den’s Genmaicha Satsuki, but the sweetness of the matcha really hit the spot this morning.

I’ve had genmaicha in the past and was greatly turned off. They always have a burnt flavor. Well, not this one! Brewed as stated, and it was perfection. Nutty, light, and sexy! Second brew was just as tasty. I will try iced next time, but loved it served hot! I tasted peanuts it in, too! Truly an awesome tea, will have it again!

Plain genmaicha is nice, but this genmaicha extra green gives it a slightly more sweet green tea flavor, and really balances it will.

After Note: Never mind. Despite the fact that I’m on the second infusion, I’m still getting a fair amount of matcha in my cup. Awesome!
