Cotton Candy

I’m fresh out of the bath and watching Star Trek TOS (Series 1 episode 3) and preparing myself a cup of this tea which hopefully will be sweet and yummy.

It smells like Rooibos with added sugar which coincidently it appears to be in the form of rainbow sprinkles. It’s perhaps not as icky smelling as Rooibos can be from time to time and it is sweeter but other than that there is nothing special about it, certainly not cotton candy scented imo.

The flavour matches it’s scent too really for the most part, it’s thickly Rooibos based but with added sugar and a creamy vanilla like after taste. Still not cotton candy (or candy floss to us Brits) but it is a nice sweet yet light tea. Better than plain Rooibos but a little disappointing. Still it was a nice sweet tea to treat myself with after my bath.

Stupid sprinkles. Altogether one I’m sneaking from Kittenna…this one smells like a giant bag of melted sprinkles and not like cotton candy at all. Tis is one that needs to steep for a bit longer since at a shorter steep I could taste that familiar rooibos taste. After steeping it for a little longer this became a better cup, but still doesn’t quite remind me of cotton candy. I think frank did a better job of it with his black tea base. Skill though, a pleasant cup AND is my 995th tea tasted lol

I really want to find a sweet, desserty rooibos blend that I can drink at night while I read. Dry, this smells like sugar sweetened rooibos. Which, I guess if you want to get technical, exactly how a cotton candy flavored rooibos blend should smell. The sprinkles in here are really well-placed and add a bit of whimsy to a food I would call the same.

The cup tastes very much like rooibos, with sugar and vanilla added as an afterthought. If I take the sip fast, I can almost miss the rooibos in the cup though. It’s a light, sweet cup, but nothing special.

I’ll keep looking.

Drank this last night, and it doesn’t disappoint. This is a wonderful night time treat. :)

This smells really good. Perhaps not exactly spun sugar, but still a very nice scent. The flavour reminds me of David’s Birthday Cake. Except the sweetness isn’t so strong, which works better.

Bleargh. Smell wise, this tea is nice. Taste wise…probably won’t be able to finish the cup. I would have to say this is down right nasty.

[Backlog] – I didn’t find this blend to be all that different from other rooibos blends from Della Terra. It had a bit of that maple flavor, but not a whole lot of cotton candy. The sprinkles were a nice touch, but that’s really all I enjoyed about this tea.

This one cheered me up today, although sadly it is a sipdown. The whole office kitchen took on the fragrance of cotton candy; warm, sugary, vanilla loveliness. It’s even more of a joy to drink.

This one will be sadly missed. It was a wonderful afternoon pick-me-up, and the sprinkles are just too cute.

Small Big Traveling Tea Box

As a child, baseball games, fairs, and parades always meant one thing for me-cotton candy. It was so delicious and satisfying to my little tastebuds, I really couldn’t get enough. Usually when a family member went to an event without me and they found cotton candy there, they would bring me back a bag or tub. It was glorious!^.^So now I was hoping to relive my childhood, at least a little bit.

At the very least, this tea is quite adorable!^.^ It has flecks of colorful sugary goodness-much like the dregs left in the bottom of a cotton candy bag. Also, it smells really quite magnificent. The cup tastes very much like a rooibos tea with afterthoughts of sugar and vanilla. Luckily, I do rather enjoy the flavor of Della Terra’s rooibos base, but it is not hitting home with the idea of fairy floss.

Now, I’m dying to try 52teas cotton candy blends (both black and white). Just read a ton of reviews on those and apparently it is done much better. Why must they be out?! :O

Number two from my Della Terra order! If nothing else, this tea is adorable – I love the sprinkles. Mine has these weird little pastel-colored squishy spheres in it. They’re about peppercorn size and they feel spongy when I squeeze one. I’m not sure what they are, Della Terra’s website says that the add-ins can change due to availability. I didn’t go as far as to eat one… There are also little baby sugar crystals dyed in pastel colors. Cute! The dry tea smells very strongly of rooibos with some kind of weird sour note and maybe a tiny bit of sugar. Very strange. I brewed two teaspoons for 5 minutes because in my last experience, the tea wasn’t strong enough with the recommended amount.

The brewed tea smells like rooibos and… cherry lozenges? This was not a flavor I expected to find. There’s also a quiet note of spun sugar in the background somewhere. When I first tasted the tea, it kind of just tasted like rooibos. So then I added a teaspoon of sugar and I think that really helped the flavoring, because it got extremely sweet (sweeter than I would expect from the amount of sugar). I definitely taste the rooibos, but thank goodness there is no cherry lozenge here. I do get spun sugar from this, but there’s also some kind of vanilla-esque flavor. Then there’s something that reminds me of a mildly fruit flavored hard candy. This is extremely sweet, and anyone who doesn’t enjoy rooibos is certainly not going to like it. I happen to like rooibos, so I am finding it very tasty. I’ll definitely play with steep times just to see how it affects the level of rooibos versus flavor.
