39 Tasting Notes
You can smell the pineapple flavor from this tea as soon as you open a Butiki package. Once brewed, I could smell/taste the floral notes, which I did not notice as much when smelling the dry leaf. I am not the biggest fan of floral teas, but the floral notes in this tea are not overwhelming and blend well with the fruit. :)
Preparation
This is my first experience with guayusa, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I also tend to steer away from minty teas because I find peppermint too strong for my tastes. This tea is really interesting. I get the vanilla, and feel soothed by the lavender (if that makes any sense). The spearmint is subtle. I’m not sure which part is the guayusa flavor since I haven’t had it before, but overall I am happy and intrigued by this tea.
So I ordered this as a sample, but since DT didn’t have enough to send me a full sample (they sent me an additional full sample for free), I only have a bit of this. I am really enjoying this tea. It’s creamy and buttery, and I wish I had more!! Hopefully I can get a few more steeps out of this.
This is my second time trying this tea; I just got it last week. I am really enjoying this blend. The strawberry flavor is great, and there is a hint of spice and a taste resembling pie crust/creaminess. This will go in rotation with Lemon Chiffon by DT for my nighttime caffeine-free tea. :)
I finally broke into my sample of this tea tonight. I can totally see what the hype is about with this tea. It’s malty, roasty, and dark but not too heavy. I didn’t even need sweetener with this but I wanted to treat myself with a teeny bit of brown sugar. :) Hopefully I can get a few re-steeps of this so I don’t go through my sample too quickly!
