Chocolate Chip Cookie

The first thing I taste is a bit of pepper, which doesn’t seem to fit. I guess there’s some chocolate flavor, but it tastes sort of like low quality Easter chocolate. It all combines to taste sort of…meh? Pepper, low quality chocolate, and possibly a little of something else, but this really isn’t great. It tastes better after it cools to room temperature. I get a little bit of salt, like in a raw cookie dough. It’s also pleasantly desserty. It’s still not too special, but I sort of like it.

This one was delicious and I drank it without any milk or sweetner. I’ll try my next cup of this with milk since I have a little left. It’s a sweet dessert blend and was chocolate-y and nutty. I don’t mind the stevia in this one but I’m not exactly sensitive to stevia either. This one has chicory in it and I tend to really enjoy DavidsTea blends with chicory. I’d purchase some of this one. Glad I got to try it because otherwise, I don’t know that it would have made it into my cart.

At this point I’m like a broken record. Another one I really wanted to like, but it didn’t quite work for me – and I think it’s because of the stevia. The tea actually smells really similar to a home-baked chocolate chip cookie, especially with slightly crunchy edges. The taste just doesn’t quite nail it though, and my best guess is that sweetness factor, but I’m not certain.

I plan to try this as a latte as I think there is some good flavour in here, and it might work, but it won’t be a repurchase for me.

HELL YEAH COOKIE TEA!!

I apologize for my excitement – but one of my dream collections for DT is a “Christmas Cookie” collection because, not only would that be exciting, one of the long standing Christmas traditions I had growing up was an insane level of Christmas baking over the holidays. So I am personally considering this the first step in maybe someday having that dream collection become a reality. I also desperately want DT to do a holiday twist on a cookies and cream profile called “Milk and Cookies” – so just putting that idea out into the world…

If you didn’t pick up up from my excitement, I do like this tea!

It’s kind of a hodge podge of different sorts of cookies – growing up my step mom made these “healthy” no bake cookies she called “Hillbilly Cookies” with oatmeal, raisins, shredded ginger, and dark chocolate chips and this tea reminds me a lot of them. I didn’t appreciate them when I was, like, nine years old – but as a twenty five year old? Definitely my kind of cookie! Now, there’s no ginger in this tea – but the oatmeal and raisins? Big check, along with the obvious chocolate chips that are in the name.

Aside from the similar chocolate profile to teas like Chocolate Chili Chai, both the oat and raisin play big parts in the profile – the oats add a starchy quality that helps more strongly convey the baked elements of a cookie, and the raisin contributes a fruity sweetness. Another ingredient that leans into the baked element of a cookie? Rooibos! It added a honeyed sort of sweetness alongside hints of nutty undertones. I will say, there is stevia in this blend – and I know that’s a polarizing ingredient. Baring in mind that I don’t have a strong sensitivity to stevia, I do taste it a little – but barely…

My favourite way to enjoy this tea so far has been as a latte or with a hearty splash of milk, but it’s nice straight too. It’s a dessert-type tea that I’ve definitely grabbed a generous amount of for myself.
