White Chocolate Frost

We’re getting pummeled by an epic snow storm … again. This is probably the fourth big, bad, world-ending snow storm we’ve had in two months and, once again, my fiance and I are at home to ride out the storm. (Little cars + long commutes + blizzard = snow day to avoid commuter-death)

The bright side to this snow day is that I have access to all my teas! I’ve been happily sipping down all day long! I used the last of this to make a pot of tea.

I added some sugar to this just to see if made the chocolate pop more. Sadly it doesn’t. The mint just overpowers everything else with the chocolate relegated to the background — providing a lovely creamy finish. The sugar kind of mucks everything up here, this is one I like so much better plain.

I wish this tea had not been a limited time kind of deal! I actually really like the balance between refreshing mint flavour and the smoothness of the chocolate underneath. Also, the stevia in this one lends a nice hint of sweet without getting ridiculous. Overall, a great chocolate mint that is different from the usual black based mint chocolates. However, I have yet to work out what the presence of the peppercorns is supposed to do for me…

It’s so minty and sweet and creamy. I wish I could taste more of the white chocolate though, but that’s ok. It’s still pretty tasty.

Alright, so this one smells nice. It’s mint. The peppercorns add an interesting flavour. I didn’t really taste the white chocolate though.

On the plus side… there was no liquorice.

Almost like a Winter pick-me-up. While shopping around for holiday ideas and taking some pictures of the decorations this morning I was reminded of how lovely this tea was. The heat of the peppercorns seem to elevate the flavor of the mint to a frosty quality. The white chocolate rounds out both notes with its creaminess and gives the tea a smooth quality. It’s a great way to have the peppermint bark candy of the season without the guilt and well worth trying. I highly recommend it.

This cup I noticed the peppercorns much more, which isn’t a bad thing. I like a bit of spicy pep in my tea. I love the texture of the tea, and that I don’t need to put on lip gloss when I’m done the cup. Yum yum yum.

Hopefully I can still buy this because I finally finished a tin of something else. Woot!

My mom brought this home so I thought I would give it a try! I don’t like stevia or peppercorns particularly, and I’m hit and miss on white chocolate, but I do love mint and anything Christmas-y, so it’s a tossup. About halfway through the cup, it is alright. The immediate, initial taste is not my favourite, but the flavours come together nicely in the after taste. Will need to try a few more times!

I thought I would love this more – I will have to give it another try. The dry leaf smell is just like peppermint patties, which I love. And the tea is very minty. I don’t get much white chocolate? And it is oily, as others have noted. I think I like a plain strong mint tea, maybe doctored up with extra peppermint syrup or mint stir sticks, better than this. But, only had a quick cup, will have to try it again.

Ah yes, another tasting note during the end of term exams week. Looks like procrastination at it’s finest!

This one falls on the same scale of Cocomint Cream to me (Cocomint cream changed my world last year, go see my tasting note for it). Although the smell of it is much nicer by dry leaf, I find the taste to be somewhat similar, except this one might be slightly better than cocomint cream as a straight tea. My initial taste/thought of it reminded me of a muted “Cold 911” minus the eucalyptus and citrus notes with a touch of creamy white chocolate. (This was after I remembered about Cocomint Cream existing, I know, how’d I forget?!)

Not sure if I will repurchase from my 30gram bag, maybe I’ll try brewing a thing of cocomint to compare to this one and see if it’s a tin worthy tea. Overall it’s nice, but like others have mentioned, the added stevia, oily film and globs of green are a little weary.

Stopped by DavidsTea today, mostly for some pumpkin chai. Apparently, the winter collection is in full swing already! I don’t know about you, but in my book it’s still pumpkin season until thanksgiving…

I tried a sample of this one, didn’t pay attention to it much, mostly enjoying having hot tea after walking through the rain… and then I very suddenly realized that the tea in my hand was really good. I don’t usually like peppermint tea, but I think the white chocolate really gives it the something extra it needs, and I love peppercorns in any tea! It was the first tea I made when I got home (although picking one was quite a challenge…). I’ll have to stock up before it goes out of season.
