From DAVIDsTEA

Daydream believer

At our annual staff party last summer, we invented the best drink ever: iced green tea with mango-flavoured ice cubes. It was totally refreshing and subtly fruity, like drinking a cup of green tea while daydreaming about tropical fruit. Hence the name: The Daydreamer. We’ve recreated it for you here, with a sencha green tea lightly flavoured with mango, guava and mangousteen. Steep a cup and dream a little dream of tea. Limited edition.

Ingredients: Fair Trade Certified Sencha green tea, mango, safflower, marigold, natural and artificial mangousteen flavoring, artificial guava flavoring*.

Mmm, I am much more satisfied with my second time having this tea . As I haven’t had it in a while – since I only acquired 25g or less. But it is good, I like the hints of mango and tropicalness. Although I am also getting a peach flavour- but there is no peach in this tea. I know I’m not the only one, so that’s okay. I’m really enjoying this though… I’m really loving green tea lately!

I tried this green tea when it was released a few years ago (I think it was 2013??) in the summer collection. I’m adding a tasting note because I remember it so fondly. I’ve never been a huge fan of green teas, straight or flavored, so this blend caught me by surprise. I wish I’d stocked up on it because it is everything I hope a flavored green tea to be – pleasantly bitter, flavorful and fruity. I love trying tropical blends, regardless of the base, so this tea, and its combination of guava, mango and mangosteen, was very well-received. It’s really tasty.

Another one I’ve had forever but haven’t drank in ages or logged ever.

I don’t like the smell of this one steeped. I did overleaf so that could be part of the problem, but my goodness it smells weird. Maybe it’s the age, or maybe it’s ‘cause it’s a green tea…? I actually have NO idea when I bought this one. I can’t remember if it was around last summer or the summer before that? I’m assuming it’s a summer tea.. I might even be wrong about that.

Some sugar added. Water was left to cool in the kettle for 5-10mins after boiling so I’m hoping it was cool enough for the leaves.

I’m not getting any bitterness to it. Yaaay! It mostly tastes like… green tea. I think the fruitiness of this one as faded a lot. It says there’s mango in it… I think it’s getting lost as the green tea is definitely taking the centre stage.

I think I’m going to bid this one farewell also as I can’t see me finishing it. I would have given it away if it wasn’t aged there a bit.. I seriously wish I knew when I got this one… oh well…

Apparently it is so good that I will be day dreaming about it all day haha. Not so accurate. What I mean is that it’s not terrible, but there are better teas out there.

It has sencha green tea leaves, mango, safflower, marigold, natural and artificial mangousteen flavoring, artificial guava flavoring. Personally, I like my tea to be more natural than this.

The main thing that you can taste when you drink this tea is the green tea itself. It’s kind of boring, I was expecting more fruitiness with all these ingredients!

I was surprised by the very mild aroma of this tea. I expected. The smell of mango to be more prevalent. Really the only specific scent I did pick up was peach, which oddly is not listed on the ingredients. The liquor is a darkish yellow with a green tint to it. Not a lot of richness present in this look of the tea. The favour and body are both extremely mild. The fruit flavour was mostly an aftertaste. No one flavour becomes apparent above the rest. It’s a very smooth blend. Vaguely floral after a few sips. Not as bitter as the more traditional green teas, but it gets more apparent towards the end of the pot.

The taste of the green tea is strong and there is a slight aftertaste of a fruity mango flavour.

Green tea with mango, guava, mangosteen. Mild and sweetly fruity. Overall, pretty tasty, but a little forgettable, too.

Nice, but only as an iced tea.

Got this as a sample & decided to give it a try even though I’d been thinking I’m not one for Japanese green teas. This smelled heavenly dry & steeped; lovely mango/tropical fruity aroma. The taste is more lightly green with a fruity undertone. Some astringency, but not bitter. Rejuvenated my curiosity in Japanese greens, but I think I’ll stick to the flavored Senchas.
