From DAVIDsTEA

How it tastes
Smooth, full-bodied black tea flavor with sweet honey notes

Good things are brewing in the Highlands of Nepal. Like this handmade black tea, a DAVIDsTEA exclusive from a family-owned tea garden named Jun Chiyabari. From the first sip you’ll notice the tea’s rich, sweet, honey-like flavor. Even better? This little tea garden has set up a ton of community programs to benefit local schools, underprivileged families and the elderly. Now that’s good.

Strange VariaTEA TTB #9

Not sure if I’ve had a Nepalese black tea before or not. It took me a while to figure out what this tea was reminding me of, but eventually I realized it was a honey oolong that TeaSource used to carry! Unlike my typical robust, full-bodied Chinese black teas, this one is very smooth with a light, slightly sweet mineral flavor and an astringent finish. Interesting to try, but probably not something I’d personally choose again.

I had to grab a sample from a previous TTB after I smelled how rich and chocolatey this tea is. Then I accidentally left my mug at home and didn’t realize until I’d gotten to work! It was tasty despite sitting on the counter all day. It just has a lovely, deep, rich flavor. It has a lot going on despite being unflavored.

If you want nuanced flavor profiles for this tea, there are more than 150 tasting notes to check out; most of them are much more descriptive than I can be.

At 3.5 minutes steeped, this is a smooth black tea that is only a little bitter on the edges. I drank about half the cup with nothing added, mostly reflecting on how it would make a fabulous iced tea. Something in the scent was giving me the slightest of citrus vibes, but I am not sure whether to trust my nose most of the time.

I finally conceded that I was not going to be able to describe it much past this, and added just a little bit of pumpkin honey. It took those bitter edges off and just made it more pleasant for me as I finished the cup.

This is a full-bodied black tea. The leaves are a lovely length, but I wouldn’t steep this for too long as I suspect it might become totally undrinkable. It’s earthy, malty and a little smoky. It’s got quite a few layers to it and I enjoy drinking it black as I think you can taste the subtleties best then. I would consider repurchasing it, but it’s one of the brand’s more expensive teas, so probably not.

A smooth, creamy, bold black tea with a bit of honey flavor. I guess I should listen to my friend’s recommendations. I absolutely love this one even though it is a bit pricey for me as a college student. While I love it and would accept it gladly as a Christmas gift 16 dollars for 50 grams is just not in my budget. However, I’m so happy I tried it because now I know to explore more straight black teas.

Delicious! Malty and sweet, but bright. Several layers of depth to the tea… robust instead of flat. Thirst quenching without being lubricating. leaves unfurled nicely during brew time. Perfect for afternoon. Refreshing and light.
My parents both drank this tea (while eating King Cake) and enjoyed it!

Sipdown #6

Decent. Honey and malt, a little chocolatey, some bitterness, and just a tad too astringent.

Platonic ideal of a black tea. Strong but not bitter, with some very mild sweet notes and even some creaminess. Perfect for starting the day.

I don’t have the words to describe the taste of this tea, but it is wonderful. I got multiple teapots worth out of two perfect spoonfuls. Although I oversteeped my tea leaves a lot, I didn’t notice any adverse flavours.
