From DAVIDsTEA

Drink it fireside

Traditional Chinese medicine says walnuts are a warming food. Which makes sense, because this is the kind of tea you spontaneously want to cozy up to on a cold winter afternoon. The comforting, lightly bitter taste of toasted walnuts is sweetened and deepened with dried pineapple, coconut, almond and organic green tea. Sip it in front of an open fire and chase away the cold.

Ingredients: Chinese sencha green tea, nut brittle, candied pineapple, coconut rasps, almond flakes, walnut bits.

So good…I love how it’s sweet, but mellow, but also slightly bitter at the end.
I love the smell of it dry, but it tastes even better – a bit of the nuttiness, and sweetness from the pineapple and coconut. Really yummyy!

I think I scorched the leaves the last time, because the flavour was very bitter and dry. This time, however, it was absolutely delicious. This is such a calm, warming tea. I love the smokiness of the green tea and walnuts with just that bit of sweetness from the fruit. Bumped up my rating and will be indulging more often.

tried this without adding anything to it. big mistake. it was like having a mouth full of old walnuts:dry and bitter. maybe i’ll try it again sometime with something sweet in it.

This tea smells absolutely divine, it was all I could do to keep from eating the leaves outright in the store. I respectfully disagree with an above poster; I think the aroma, while slightly diminished, is still very much present after brewing. That said, I was a bit disappointed with the taste. There’s a bit of a backlash with what I’m smelling, and what I’m actually drinking. It isn’t a bad tea, not by a long shot, just a bit too subtle for my tastes. Maybe I’ll warm up to it the more I drink it.

I’m not sure where the negative reviews of this tea are coming from – this is hand’s down my favourite tea.

It’s perfectly balanced, allowing you to taste all of the different flavours – the green tea, coconut, and yes, the toasted walnut. It has a comforting, relaxing smell and is simply delicious.
