This is ok, nothing outstanding. Although I’m not getting much fig flavor at all. It’s coming out a little bit as it cools but I don’t know that I would have been able to identify the flavoring if I tried it blind. There is nothing offensive about it, just a nice comforting cup. I won’t reorder though.

did you get Jardin Blue? I have it at home, it’s yum, and a very close resemblance to MG Marco Polo…
enjoy all your teas!! Seems fun to be trying out so many new tastes :)

Marzipan

I haven’t tried that one, but might need to order it now.

I was curious about this tea because I tend to appreciate plain black teas that have a figginess about their flavour already. This tea is kind of like that, turned up to eleven. To that end, it’s really lovely – lots of what I like in a black tea. This review is late so a lot of the finer details have escaped my seive-like memory, so further notes, I hope, will be better on the whole detail thing. But I quite liked it! Thanks to Ysaurella for sending this my way!

This is my very last sample from Dinosara, d’aw! I don’t have a lot of experience with figs, only having had dried ones before, but I did enjoy the experience I had. And this just sounded interesting! Dried fruit is one of my favorite flavors in straight blacks, so I figured one specifically flavored that way would be fantastic. The leaf itself has no visual indication of being flavored, which is actually a nice change of pace after trying so many teas with flower petals in them. Dry scent is very sweet dried fruit with honey, yummmm! I did my usual 3 minute steep at 200 degrees.

The brewed tea also smells quite sweet with a syrupy dried fruit aroma. I must admit, I am always hoping that the sweetness in a tea’s aroma will carry over to the taste, though it rarely does. I miss my sugar! :P Anyway, this tea is quite good! The base tea is mellow and somewhat malty, flavorful but unobtrusive. There is a lovely caramelized dried fruit flavor – I’m not sure that I would specifically call it fig, but like I said, I have little experience with the fruit. It’s quite rich and nonspecifically fruity, which seems a good description for dried figs to me. The sweetness is augmented by a lovely mild honey note with the slightest floral edge, like wildflower honey. Overall, this tea is quite delicious and I’ll put it on my list to order. Thanks Dinosara!

I don’t think fig is my favorite flavor. This is a little too raisin – esque for me. It’s not offensive, but there are so many more flavors out there that I prefer.
If you love fig, and like sweet fruity, jammy, thick teas – then this would probably be a good one to try. For me, just ok…

Sample from MissB!

Okay this definitely smells like a tea that I wouldn’t necessarily enjoy, but I was smelling the teas that I brought with me, and this was a bit intriguing. I normally don’t enjoy fruity teas, but this one smells a bit mellow and nice! The smell reminds me of a thing… a nice thing. Dude I don’t even know. This tasting note is a complete mess.

But umm… this definitely smells better than it tastes. Aww darn. It smells so nice and the fruitiness smells like it’s well balanced with the base, but tasting it, the fruit comes up and it tastes mediciney again :(

MissB

Ah boo. Medicine begone!

From a sample Ysaurella so kindly sent me, MONTHS ago. And which i have had before with a lot of pleasure, but without writing a taste note. Maybe because I do not know what to say about it. Black tea, Dammann usual black tea base (if that means anything to you) flavoured with fig. Precisely what it says on the package, so to speak. No less, but also no surprises.

It is a lovely flavouring, tasting natural to me and making me feel like summer is closer (the ads for garden furniture have started! Though it is going to be months before anybody with sense would put it out). For some reason, I think this flavour is one to which Dammann´s one-size-fits-all tea base really works perfectly. A very good example of a solo-flavoured black tea, surely one of Dammann´s best.

I’m glad you liked it even if I almost forgot I sent it to you !
To me it is Figolu tea, not Fresh fig.
