From Crimson Lotus Tea

Bai Ying Shan, or White Warbler Mountain, is a remote high altitude tea growing region in Lincang Prefecture. This mountain has more than 10 unique varietals of camellia sinensis. This puerh is a special blend we perfected while we were living with the farmers this year. We blended from a few different varietals with the goal of maximizing flavor, aroma, aftertaste, and energy. We worked with them ourselves to pick and process this puerh. The picking and processing is 100% done by hand. This puerh has been direct sun dried for 2 days.

We chose to call this puerh "Hidden Song". The mountain is named for the white warbler songbird common to the area. The bird is often heard, but rarely seen. This hidden song was the inspiration for the name of this puerh.

This puerh is sweet and vegetal with an aroma of edamame.

Was really happy to give this tea a try along with the Slumbering Dragon, thanks for the samples Glen and Lamu :).

This tea had a really pleasant aroma that was both sweet and vegetal and I also was able to pick up the aroma of edamame that was mentioned.

As for the taste its quite easy to realize how fresh this tea is, the first couple of steeps reminded me a bit of a fresh green tea but I was able to pick up some nice sheng flavors that became more pronounced after the first couple of steeps(was able to get a total of around 10 steeps). I was quite surprised at how smooth this tea is for being so young, but it wasn’t too flat either as it had some nice tangy/bitter flavors as well. I would definitely consider buying this cake and would say its definitely drinkable right away.

This was a second sample I got from Glen and Lamu. How nice of them!

When I opened the packet, I was amazed at how sweet this tea smelled on its own. And it really is. It’s probably the greenest tea I’ve ever had, and definitely the greenest sheng I’ve ever had. It tasted really green, but also sweet and kinda almost creamy. I really enjoyed it. It’s very energizing.

Thank you for the sample Glenn and Lamu!

I don’t think I have ever had a sheng this fresh before. The dry leaf scent reminds me of a fresh green with just a hint of that fruity vibe shengs can have.

Early steeps are like a cross between a fresh green and a sheng. Nice and sweet and vegetal with a shengy tanginess. It leaves a long lingering taste in the back of my throat. Definitely tastes like spring!

I might be imagining it but I got the FAINTEST hint of smoke from an early steep. Really enjoyable and gave me lots of energy today :)
