Maple Vanilla Earl Grey

I used this and a vanilla frosty to make one delicious tea affogato. I don’t know if I made it right but it was deliciously vanilla, with a distinct maple flavor, and a bit of brightness from the bergamot to round things out. Yum!

This smells like a maple bomb, and I am so excited because of it! Maple is one of my very favorite flavors, and it’s often too subtle for me in tea. This is like sniffing a bottle of pancake syrup…

Hmm… I’m not sure how I feel about this one. There is a nice amount of maple, which makes me very happy. There is also a nice amount of bergamot, which normally I also enjoy.

But I’m sipping on it and trying to decide whether I like the combination or not. I will say, I don’t taste the rooibos at all, only the black tea part of the base. It’s somewhat tannic and seems like a generic Assam.

I am definitely wishing that I got more creamy vanilla here, I think that would really help to tie the bergamot and maple together in a London-Fog-with-maple sort of way. As-is, I feel it’s perhaps slightly discordant?

That’s not to say I don’t like it, but I’m not sure I like it enough to drink it again.

This tea was SO Fragrant in the little sample bag that it rubbed off on the other sample bags as well.

I added about a teaspoon of almond milk for creaminess.

Flavorwise- This is a nice Earl grey. The bergamot is powerful which is often how I prefer my earl greys. The maple adds a nice sweetness keeping the bergamot from making the cup too bitter. I think the rooibos also does that since it’s not just a black tea base. I have to say that I was on a real earl grey kick last summer and now I’m definitely wanting other teas a lot more. I do enjoy this but wouldn’t buy more for my cupboard ATM since I’m still slightly sick of earl greys. It’s definitely not one of my favorites out of all the teas I’ve tried from AQ2T so far. This one is definitely less unique but is still nice.

This one redeemed the peach crostata I had yesterday which I honestly did not care for. The name fits perfectly. It tastes exactly like a maple vanilla eg blend.

Woo hoo this is sipdown 42, with a week left in my sipdown challenge.

The base is malty (though a bit tannic). Lots of nutty pecan flavour, some vanilla, lots of maple (the best part!). I don’t taste any bergamot, but I love the vanilla maple flavour instead. It reminds me of maple brown sugar oatmeal.

nope-nope-itty nope nope. unlike the other EG – this one is a little too strong in the blerg for me. I LOVE the maple/vanilla….and then the BLERG hits..and it’s all NOPE for me haha. however, if blerg is your thing – this should be a really nice one for you :) (obviously not rating since i know blerg and i are not friends)

I wasn’t sure about this one at first- the maple and vanilla cream are decadent and then I the bergamot (and rooibos) step in. The mix of cloying sweetness with floral citrus continues to grow on me though, in the same way that sour cream on pancakes and whipped cream steak grew on me (Czech food is fun). I even like how the rooibos contributes to the blend; it adds extra dimensions to the maple flavour.

The sweet spice of the cinnamon, salty-sweet calendula, and the mouth drying astringency provide additional contrasts and highlights.

This is definitely a contender for repurchase, but it’s a mental hurdle. I want a permanent maple tea and an earl grey but this challenges my (now problematic) binary tea utopia.

Not sure how I couldn’t distinguish this and Star Crossed Assam before, but this time I think it’s fairly clear. This tea is pretty clearly mapley with vanilla, although the earl grey aspect is quite weak (probably missed it the first time around). The base is unremarkable; I’d prefer it wasn’t a rooibos but it seems not to be bothering me, so it’s fine. I’d drink this again as a tasty lower-caffeine option.

This tea is one of the best earl grey teas I have ever had. It has the perfect amount of bergamot and paired with the maple, this is incredible. I don’t get the vanilla as much though. I even find it has great flavor for a second steeping.

Not sure why, but lately Earl grey teas just isn’t something that I crave like I used to. I used to want to try all the earls. Not sure what is up with that. Oh well
Anyway, I was in the mood for some Earl grey and this is definitely a good one! The maple actually tastes fairly natural, not sugar candy sweet which is nice.
