This one was nice and the banana and passionfruit were definitely present. The passionfruit is somewhat tart and acts as a nice contrast to the banana. The green tea base is present and I also tasted a very strong cream note on the second steep of this tea. It tasted just like the cream note in another 52 Teas blend specifically the amaretto pears with cream tea. This was yummy but an unexpected appearance in this tea.

This was a freebie from my last order, thanks Anne! And actually it’s probably my favorite tea from that order so far.

It’s a green base with banana and passion fruit flavors, which I really like together. The banana is ripe and slightly creamy, while the passion fruit is more tart and punchy. Truthfully, I’ve never had a real passion fruit, but the flavor in this tea reminds me of a sort of fusion of nectarine and pineapple with a nice juicy tartness to it. The base is a very mellow green tea with slightly creamy beany notes. I wouldn’t call it mineral but it does have a nice sort of clear spring water sweetness to it.

Overall, really good, and the flavor combo reminds me a bit of a tropical smoothie. I’ll have to be on the lookout for passion fruit at the grocery store, I really need to try a real one to compare with the teas I’ve had!

I admit – it’s the black, oolong, and white teas that I tend to get excited for from 52teas. I’ve never really been big on flavoured greens, and they are often disappointing from any company (and, well, herbal/honeybush/rooibos typically don’t taste great to me regardless of flavour). However, I was in the mood for something different, and this is what I grabbed.

Immediately, my interest was piqued when I opened up the packet, as the aroma was a delicious, tropical, banana-heavy fragrance. A great sign, and somewhat unexpected how tasty it smelled. To my delight – it also ended up being pretty darn tasty once brewed up! The flavours were a bit more muted than the initial aromas, but the banana gave the tea a nice sweetness/creaminess. Bonus, I could taste the flavour of the base tea, which I’ve now forgotten how to describe, but it was very much not metallic, or with any off-flavours that often end up being detractors in a flavoured green. Overall a really pleasant green, and it made me kind of excited to try some of the others in my box!

Oh I may recognize this passion fruit flavor from a different 52teas tea – Blue Star maybe? I really liked that one, so I’m excited to encounter it again. It goes well with the banana and the green base, though the banana could be a little fresher tasting and the green tea a little clearer. I preferred Blue Star, but this one tastes quite fresh and is an interesting new take on this flavor. And I’m drinking it cold instead of warm like the other one, so it’s a different experience. It’s not quite tasty enough that I’d order it again, but it reminded me to request a reblend of that other one sometime!

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the combination of banana and passionfruit before, but I really like it! It embraces those underlying tropical flavours of banana and creates something really fun with tangy elements as well as the comforting familiarity of the 52Teas banana flavour. I love that this isn’t too sweet or too tangy/tart – just nice and approachable. That said, I think the noticeably grassy and vegetal flavour of the green tea is a little intrusive of that beautiful tropical fruit medley happening – but I also have to acknowledge I’m simply more sensitive to those notes as well.
