Champagne Mojito Green

This is my fave tea from 52 teas thus far. (I haven’t been brave enough to try the maple bacon but it is sitting on my counter just waiting patiently for me.)

This is a lovely green tea with such a smooth, creamy flavor with a delightfully refreshing taste of mint. I made a pot for a friend and I this morning and I don’t think she liked it much as she only had one cup (I had at least 5, but they were from the traditional tea cup, not a big ol’ mug). This may be one of my new faves.

The scent of this is VERY strong, almost overwhelming, and it was hard for me to even get the courage to steep this based on that scent – I’m not sure how to describe it but it wasn’t pleasant. However, I’m really glad I made this because it is really, really good. I’m teetotal so I don’t know what champagne tastes like, but there was definitely a note to this which I couldn’t identify, so I’m guessing that was the champagne. The mint is the most forefront taste, but the key lime makes an appearance as well.

Okay so today has been such a beautiful day here I finally got to throw on a pair of shorts! Yes I said SHORTS yea! So feeling the early onset of spring I thought to myself jeez I wish it were Friday already. Because if it were Friday I’d grill us some burgers for dinner but then I thought nope it’s only Thursday and my son has soccer practice tonight so that pretty much ruled out grilling burgers :( (Maybe tomorrow crossing my fingers).

So I then remembered that I got a lovely package in yesterday from my tea buddy MeghannM and that reminded me that she sent me some of this Champagne Mojito and so I quickly open the bag and was hit with mint hey if I can’t grill burgers I can at least enjoy a mojito (right?) anyway the spearmint smell is really great smelling, the taste I’m expecting to be strong like a mojito but it’s actually very soft more of a champagne with mint flavor than mojito I think I might have enjoyed this more if it were one or the other but the combination has my palate confused. While it is decent it’s not what I had hoped it to be. I will try the rest iced and see what happens. I unlike Meghann would have preferred a true Mojito. Thanks again for sharing it with me Meghann :)

This was fun. I don’t think I’d drink it more than once, but for a one time cup, I enjoyed it. It’s a little out of the ordinary and the mint smell reminded me of one of those pine tree air fresheners in a taxi cab.

This tea feels so complex… let’s start at the beginning.
The leaves smell odd. It kinda reminds me of the mintiness of tooth paste and pinesol. Or a minty Christmas tree… But luckily the brew smells lighter and sweeter than that. Cause that wasn’t the most pleasant thing I’ve ever stuck my nose into.
The brew is a nice light amber. If you can’t tell I’m nervous about this one mostly cause I don’t like spearmint.
And taste… This is where they pull the rug out from under you. There is some kind of crazy undertone of vanilla or cream or something. I believe this is due to the champagne portion of the flavoring and champagne is an amorphous enough of a flavor that it has to be blamed for the creaminess and some kind of sparkly tingle flavor. Weird/NEAT!
On top of that is a light amount of lime. The lime seems like the binding flavor as it is there but everything else radiates around it. Really it’s like a lime cream soda. Delicious.
And somewhere sitting in its own little dark corner (yea! it’s not prominent!) is the spearmint. The rest of the flavors are very bright so I agree that a darker flavor in the blend is good and necessary to provide the bottom of the blend and let the other flavors spring board off of it. It’s not over powering but as my tea is cooling off it is masking the other flavors a little more. This is where the crazy interplay of flavors come in… mint and champagne must equal “sparkly”! I don’t know how they thought that up but it works with the spearmint flavor coming out so late in the game that you really register sparkles before mint.
After almost finishing my 2 oz. I feel that the interesting points in the blend are a little too much. Cup one is all about discovering and as you can see there is a lot to discover and experience… and then cup after cup you kinda get used to it and the excitement goes away and you’re left with a very complicated tea that you’ve picked a prodded at so it has lost its shine. I really wish each cup brought about the same excitement but… I guess it doesn’t have any staying power for me.
I think 2 oz. for a party where many people will get to experience something new in exciting is a great idea for this tea… but for personal everyday drinking it’s not staying wonderful.

Wow is this a great tea. Smells just like fresh doublemint gum. The taste is even better than the chewing gum…love this both hot and iced. Really like the hint of lime with fresh mint and premium green tea.

I was drinking this tea last night while working on the computer. I was unsure what I would think of this tea, as I am not a champagne drinker, nor do I like mojitos. I was pleasantly surprised at this tea! The hint of champagne adds a nice tone to the mint/lime mojito flavor. I am glad I have two pouches!
