14 Tasting Notes
Bought this over the weekend and really loved it. Here’s why… It doesn’t have that “medicine-y” or astringent taste some other chai mixes seem to have. It’s sweet, it’s cinnamon, it’s rich and most importantly, I can actually TASTE the black tea in it. I guess that’s typically my beef with chai, you can taste the STUFF, but not the tea. This is a great TEA that is flavored perfectly.
One of the best chai teas around.
Preparation
Okay, the smell of this one SOLD me at Teavana. Those sneaky salesmen are pretty intense in OKC. Geez… Anywho…
I brewed this bad boy up and found that I’m just not a huge fan almond in tea. There is a dough taste, an almond cookie (duh) taste that is just too watered down to really be enjoyable. Side note, I took this with sugar only, no milk
This tea will taste fantastic with cream and more sugar, I used 1/2 a teaspoon for eight ounces. This review is, however, only covering water and light sugar.
So, in my opinion… This tea needs to be richer, a deeper black tea would have suited the other components quite a bit.
Nice clean taste, not soapy but floral and fresh. The citrus smell is stronger than the citrus taste though. The blossoms add floral notes in the finish.
This is a tea to smell and drink at the same time. It gives a great throat coat on these cold icky days.
