Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – June 2024 Tea #4 – A tea you bought multiples of

This is THE tea I think of, when I think of “multiples” as I bought maybe eight sample sizes when I knew Tiesta was discontinuing it… eight probably wasn’t enough as I love this blend.  Coconut! Pineapple!  On the perfect oolong base!  It’s even a dark oolong.  So, as usual, happy it isn’t a sipdown yet….

Sounds perfect for summer!

Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – June 2024 Tea #3 – A tea from Africa

I didn’t think I had tea with me from Africa, and then it clicked that rooibos is grown in South Africa, so here we are.  Not a sipdown!  But it’s another one I’m glad won’t be finished any time soon.   Rhubarb and cream and rooibos!  It works, it really works.

ashmanra

Rooibos is a great choice to represent tea from Africa!

Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – June 2024 Tea #2 -A refreshing summer tea

This tea is one I usually save for the hottest summer days.  And whoa, these few days here qualify as HOT.  This tea never fails!   Glad it ain’t gone yet…

drank Cold 911 (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA

Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – June 2024 Tea #1 -June 5 – World Environment Day – drink an organic tea

It’s almost hard to believe this is “organic” as the flavor here is so strong and fierce!  I did use an entire sample, but still.  Maybe it is a blend that is supposed to cut through stuffy noses and sinus problems. It’s a functional tea over a “wow, I enjoy this flavor” tea, for me at least. Luckily, I very rarely get colds, so don’t really feel the need to stock up on this one.   It does remind me how much I miss David’s Eucalyptus Mist though. :/  Someone tell me if that one ever comes back…

I was surprised at how many of my teas say they are organic! I guess the good companies are trying.

Roswell Strange

100% meant to be a functional tea specifically for congestion/colds. We actually even upped the intensity (ie. more eucalyptus) a few years back to be even more functional.

Good to know!

drank Jasmine Dragon Pearl by ZenTea

Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – May 2024 Tea #6 – A floral green

Another jasmine tea, this time GREEN.  Got to love these little pearls, even though I oversteeped both times.  Still quite good.   Ancient, yet very fragrant.  I would say 90% of my teas probably have 2-3 teaspoons left… but this isn’t a sipdown quite yet… happy weekend everyone!

Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – May 2024 Tea #5 – A floral black

This’ll do for this prompt.  I LOVED this one when I originally received it… it was probably already old, so now it has just faded so much.  Such a shame.   Looks like the shop has forever closed.  Double shame.  A perfectly done jasmine/vanilla tea would be a cupboard essential.

ashmanra

Have you tried Golden Moon’s? It is really good!

tea-sipper

I DO have the Golden Moon. Not sure if I tried it when it was already older though. I enjoyed it anyway!

Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – May 2024 Tea #4 – May 20 – Pick Strawberries Day

Forgot to post a note for this prompt yesterday!   I didn’t have a strawberry tea, but I went with a cherry one!  From Frank’s era of 52teas, so this mostly just tastes like plain marshmallow treat at this point.  But that’s always a good thing!

Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – May 2024 Tea #3 – Your oldest non-puerh

This was definitely one of my oldest teas. It was time to sip it down. I swear this had hibiscus in it. I was going to say: It wasn’t my least favorite hibiscus riddled blend, but it was drowning in it by the end. Which the ingredients aren’t even listing hibiscus, so it must be the beetroot. But in my experience, the beetroot doesn’t get this tart. hmm. I mean, I gave this herbal a rating of 94! Wow! And that was even 12 years ago, before I had my basket infusers and was only using tiny infusers. Possibly overleafing the last of it transformed it into a hibiscus blend….or just keeping a tea around for 12 years…. hilarious, but I WOULD stock up on this blend again.

Also, there isn’t a dashboard stall this weekend?!?! It’s Sunday!

This single teabag was from Cameron B – thanks very much! Since it is in a teabag, I don’t think it has the “full rose buds” that the loose leaf description claims, but the cup was tasty anyway. Hints of rose, hints of fruit, but I really can’t tell what type. I would guess raspberry. It’s decent for a teabag, but I bet the loose leaf is much better.

Ashmanra’s sipdown challenge – May 2024 Tea #2 – Your tea closest to sipdown

This one was closest to a sipdown… because I just sipped it down. :D What looks like a small amount of leaves sure unravels A LOT.  This was an okay tea, but I expected more aromatic, if it’s in the name.  And the flavor really wasn’t very strong for the infuser basket being half full of leaves.  I have liked other snails more than this one.  But this certainly has the characteristics and flavor of keemun…. but very very light keemun.

Most of the teas listed in my cupboard are actually sample sizes. I don’t really have 2,000 ounces of tea around here! Many of my teas have only one teaspoon left… maybe two. But I like keeping them in my cupboard list for reference to what I could be sipping. Usually, I write tasting notes once for each tea. I’m still drinking them, just not writing tasting notes each time!

I’m always in search of: Hattialli, Qu Hao black, Jin Jun Mei, teas using marshmallow root.

My dislikes: hibiscus, ginger (unless in chai), turmeric, bee pollen, charcoal type flavors

My ratings:
95-100 – Super awesome deliciousness favorites – cupboard essential
80-95 – Also pretty delicious
65-80 – Pretty good
50-65 – Okay
1-50 – Probably won’t want to sip it again

I’m planning on being a Steepsterer as long as there IS a Steepster, so if you’re not hearing from me, that means something happened to my health… if you know what I mean. (Or as evidenced by the great computer hiatus of 2019, something happened to my computer… I have a dumb phone so can’t access internet on that. As of 12/20/21 my wifi might start getting unreliable.)

Happy sipping!
