6444 Tasting Notes
I am fascinated that Roswell Strange found this was too tart because for me, this is crazy sweet. It smells like mango and tastes a bit like dried mango that is often sweeter than the actual fruit. Plus, the candied pineapple is really coming through. It’s very sweet and very juicy and my experience, at least in this first cup, is the opposite of Roswell’s which is interesting since she is the one who gave me the tea so it’s not like we got drastically different batches.
Thanks for sharing, Roswell Strange!
ETA: This is a sipdown (358) since I drank the entire cold brew bottle. It was sweet the whole way through so I am fascinated what made my batch so sweet while Roswell Strange’s was tart.
I know this is loved by Roswell Strange but I apparently have not tried it yet. I like when AQ2T uses this base tea though so when I grabbed it and saw the base and the giant peach slice, I was intrigued.
This package claims this tea is hot and perhaps it is because of the age but I get no heat and no honey. The lack of honey is more surprising given AQ2T has a particular honey flavor that pops up in a lot of teas whether it is supposed to be there or not. However, this is peach and base through and through. The base is bready which combines nicely with the peach. It’s enjoyable but not earth shattering. Perhaps I waited too long to try it and its lost some of its pizzazz. The dangers of a giant stash. I feel like I need to learn how to balance drinking down old teas while making sure I try new ones when they are still fresh.

Thank you Roswell Strange for sharing! While I was wandering around Mtl in December, I passed by this shop but was with a friend and didn’t go in. I was a bit sad about that and apparently it is permanently closed now and these chais are being sold through Camellia Sinensis. So, it is nice to get a chance to try this despite not going to the store.
Of course I made it as a latte because that’s the best way to make a chai. Plus it is sunny but very cold out and chais work for a cold day. However, I am debating if I want to brave the cold and go sit through student presentations for a few hours or if I want to just hang out in my apartment and chill. The prof told us we only need to show up for half the student presentations and I have shown up to all of them so far so I can take the day if I choose.
This chai is more peppery/gingery than I normally like. It clearly is good quality though since there is no muddiness that sometimes happens when chai ingredients are not properly balanced. However, I topped it with some chaiwala chai sprinkles which is a combination of maple sugar and chai spices. The sprinkles add a nice sweetness to this to counter the overly spiced ginger/pepper. While the balance of flavors is not to my preference, I can definitely see this being appealing to many and I am glad I got the chance to try it out. Thanks again, Roswell Strange!
This is one of those weird teas that doesn’t pop up in searches properly so it was never added to my cupboard but today I was going through the teas I keep at my sisters and there it was. It sounds good to me but mostly it was hibiscus to add sour to the cherry flavour. While that was fine, it didn’t really have marscapone.

I was a little worried when I steeped up the last of this and it was just yellow and not purple like my original cup. There was no butterfly pea flower obviously but the flavour is still there despite the colour being drastically different. Just a faint lemony tea that was light but had enough flavour to be interesting.
I don’t NEED this tea but I definitely enjoyed it more than I expected and would revisit it again in the future if it’s re-released.
I had two free 50g rewards from DAVIDsTEA I had to use up back in December and I had no idea what I wanted so I decided for one, I would just grab this tea for Sil. I confirmed she would be ok with that and let her know that I would be stealing just enough to make a latte.
Today I decided to make that latte to drink while playing Pandemic, my new favorite game that I make my siblings play many, many times. This tea, as usual had a very strong fragrance and flavor and while it hit the spot today, I know it is not one I will drink often enough to warrant keeping around.
With that said, it was nice to revisit this eggy and rich french toast tea. Sweet and syrupy and thick and basically french toast in a mug. It’s good and I think if I had to pick between this or a pancake tea, I would want this, but I know this will get far more love from Sil so the rest is off to her.
Roswell Strange is the only other person to review this tea and she gave it a 48 so that’s not a great sell. I honestly only picked it because I am at my sister’s and it’s snowing and I just wanted any tea for my tea photo and this is what I grabbed.
I also had no idea how to go about steeping this so I used 90C water for 2.5 minutes and one current perfect teaspoon for a Nordic mug.
With that said, I went in with low expectations and this just sorta meant them. It’s not bad but you get some tannins and a sweetness and that’s sort of it. It’s just pretty lacklustre in flavour with just the slight astringency from the tannins and that’s not what I want in a tea.
Thanks for sharing Roswell Strange but while this isn’t particularly bad, it’s not food either.
I decided to make this as a tea pop and while prepping it, I wasn’t paying close attention and read the instructions for a different tea that steeped for only two minutes instead of three. I then either turned off the two minute timer without paying attention or never set the timer in the first place so I don’t actually know how long this steeped for and I couldn’t say if its oversteeped or understeeped. This is what happens when you make tea while distracted, I guess.
Based on the flavor, I would say perhaps slightly understeeped since a lot of the front end of the sip is just carbonated water. Then I get a bit of ginger cola amazingness and then I get back to carbonated water. I blame myself but also think this is better as a cold brew or regular tea than a teapop perhaps.
I’ve done similar things more often than I can count. Being distracted is a great way to make bad tea.
This is one of my all-time favorites. I’ve never had it as Teapop, but it is very good as a cold brew, and the regular brew is a weakness for me.
That said, I have a tendency to either overleaf or oversteep because I love the flavor that much, and I’m a sucker for a good ginger “punch-in-the-throat” LOL!
