6444 Tasting Notes
The other day we made Dalgona Coffee (whipped coffee that has gone viral this month) and it worked well so today I decided to try Dalgona Matcha. It didn’t work. Instead of whipping, it became a thick syrup that sunk to the bottom of the iced milk as opposed to sitting on top. Here are pictures: https://www.instagram.com/p/B-PwSjCgGV5/?igshid=828e65c8ocbe
Tastewise, I was sort of worried about this because (1) I usually use 1/2 tsp of matcha in 8 oz and today I used 1 tbsp of matcha + 1 tbsp of white sugar and (2) ginseng and mate are not something I typically enjoy. Despite the failure of my experiment, this tastes alright. It’s very sweet fake blueberry more than anything. Definitely too sweet and didn’t need the sugar. It’s not my favourite prepped this way but that could be due to the sheer amount of it used and the added sugar. I think it could be good made my usual way though so thank you Roswell Strange! for sharing and being so generous that I could experiment.
I set this up to cold brew last night and even then it smelled sort of waxy and artificial. Today that is coming through in the taste with a lot of acidic apple and some citrus. It’s tolerable and I’ll likely finish the cold brew today but I won’t be seeking this out again.
White Chocolate London Fog Sipdown (327)
I’m still on my white chocolate kick, inspired by the white chocolate matcha latte I had at the coffee shop in London before corona-crazy hit. So far I’ve made a white chocolate chai latte, a white chocolate latte with strawberry matcha and now this. I debated about using my Pumpkin Chai tea but this has been sitting in the swap box from Evol Ving Ness (though I’m not sure if it’s from her or Sil – thank you to both of you for getting it to me!) for over two years now and just seemed like a better choice. Since I don’t love earl greys, I always am happy to find ways to dilute them down a bit and a white chocolate london fog seemed like a good way to do that.
The bergamot smelled soooo strongly when I was making this which made me nervous and led to me adding a bit more white chocolate than I originally intended to add. Thankfully this time it wasn’t too much white chocolate but instead ended up being quite smooth. The vanilla and white chocolate are coming through most strongly as a top note, with the underlying bergamot leaving a crisp finish at the end of the sip.
It’s nice prepared this way but I just know this would have been too strong of a bergamot flavour for me without all the additions. Even as a plain London Fog it might have been too overwhelming. Still fun to try though so thank you Sil and Evol!
Sipdown (328)
I’ve had this since June 2017 and just haven’t gotten around drinking it until now. I debated if this should be made as a latte, mostly because I want more white chocolate lattes but I decided just to make it plain.
This doesn’t really taste like rum or cola though. It’s quite the letdown because it’s mostly a so-so black tea base with some lemon. That and cinnamon. I’m not really a fan so this went into my swap box.
Cold Brew Sipdown (329)
This is one of the teas from my swap with Evol Ving Ness back in 2017 that is sort of just lingering around. Thank you Evol! It’s been a while since I have seen her on here though so hopefully she see this…and perhaps I shouldn’t take forever to go through swaps
This tea is the same as the blend that I really enjoyed from Tea Desire. I had a lot of that and grew tired of it. Plus, it got sort of bland so I mixed it with things near the end of my stash. It was nice to have just enough for a few cold brew cups to revisit it.
This is not punch-you-in-the-face flavorful but it does have flavor. It is soft, light, and refreshing with a fruity sweetness. I actually get more goji berry than anything else but overall it is like a generic fruit flavor with a goji note at the tail-end. Nice and definitely different from a lot of the other herbal/fruit tisanes out there…except for the Tea Desire version which is the same tea.

I saw Banana Bread and had high hopes for this but it didn’t deliver. There is a spice that hits the back of my through which could be warming and nice if it was accompanied by anything other than rooibos. Something about this is coming through almost lotion-like.
Cold Brew Sipdown (331)
I cold brewed this and while I’m glad the coconut hasn’t gone rancid despite being almost two years old, that’s the only thing I’m glad about. It’s not bad because it’s really not much of anything. It’s sorta fruity water and that’s it. Meh.
