Cold Brew Sipdown (265)

This is a poor man’s Mango Fruit Punch. Thanks Roswell Strange for sharing but I wasn’t overly impressed here.

This made an awesome iced latte. No chocolate syrup or whipped cream needed.

Sipdown (266)

After lunch, I took this as a hot tea and Monkey Chop as an iced latte back to the office with me…and by that I mean to the desk upstairs. It was nice and even as it cooled I enjoyed it. It was peachy and fruity and just a nice afternoon tea as I listened to did video training.

My morning tea during the first of several video calls. It’s nice to be getting into work but I hate video calls so it was nice having a little cup of tea to keep me company.

This was so good as an iced latte the first time I had it and then last night I made another and it is was overly woody and nutty. It got dumped. Weird how the two were so vastly different and the worst part is I didn’t keep track of my steeping parameters so I don’t know if I did anything different. Boo.

Iced Tea Sipdown (267)

I made this two days ago but drank it yesterday after I got home from work and baby stuff shopping. It was not my favourite. A bit watermelon-y but with an added green tea component I didn’t love.

Today’s smoothie was strawberry, mango, peach and banana. I don’t pick the fruits, my sister does and then I’m left enough smoothie in the blender for me to doctor up with whatever matcha I want. Since today was the first time they used peach, I decided to highlight that flavor with this matcha.

Tbh I just used 1/2 tsp and I wasn’t actually expecting it to come out that strongly through all the fruit. So, I was super surprised when my first sip of smoothie was not just a whole lot of peach but copious cream notes as well. Like this matcha must be extremely strongly flavoured because it took over. The grassiness of the matcha came through one but mostly it’s the flavouring. It’s nice and I now look forward to trying this plain.

I loved this in the past but overtime I grew slightly tired of it because I had so much of it. Then Evol Ving Ness bought me a large amount of it and while I don’t reach for it often, tonight I pulled it out. I used it for an iced latte when I couldn’t find my tin of Candy Cane Crush. I was disappointed initially because I wanted mint but this ended up being really awesome. Nutty but with a whole lot of rich chocolate too. It was a nice reminder of why I loved this tea to begin with. Thank you Evol Ving Ness!

This was a tea lemonade from earlier. I was worried about the chamomile in this one but it ended up being a nice afternoon drink. It was hot outside and this was refreshing, mostly due to the lemonade, I think, but this added a sorta peach sweetness. It was nothing so unique that I’d need more of this but I’m less scared of it now than I was before. Also, check out the photo of this tea lemonade (with a sneaky surprise guest) here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CBYsra2gkuG/?igshid=11sdvglymryxd

My cupboard has grown exponentially since joining this site and I have a lot to share. Feel free to snoop through my cupboard and message me if anything interests you – I am always happy to swap!

For me, flavored teas are definitely my sweet spot. I will most often reach for black teas and rooibos or honeybush blends but I do keep some flavored whites and greens around for when the mood strikes. I have a few herbals/tisanes but most of the time I find myself disappointed by them as they often smell deliciously sweet and then end up tasting tart/sour. I have a little bit of an aversion to pu’erh and oolong teas. I am also wary of florals, earl greys, and chai teas. I do not like overpowering citrus flavors nor do I usually like hibiscus, licorice or chamomile. I love dessert teas – caramel, vanilla, toffee, cookie, cream, and other sweet flavors make me smile. Fruits like strawberry, peach, mango, and pineapples will often catch my attention as well.

I have also realized that although I really enjoy adding frothed milk to some of my teas, if I do not like the tea with zero additives (just in plain water without milk or sugar), I probably won’t drink it. The one exception is flavored matchas which I will happily drink in cold milk if I do not like it mixed with hot water. My theory is if the tea can’t stand on its own then it is not for me and I will more than likely try to swap it out for something else.

Tea Ratings Guide (as of December 10, 2017)
90-100 Teas I NEED on hand at all times
80-89 Teas I want to keep around for a cup every now and then
70-79 Teas I am glad I have around and can experiment with but probably don’t need more than what’s in my cupboard
60-69 Teas I would not turn down a cup of from a friend but that would probably be enough
50-59 Teas I can see why someone would enjoy but are not for me
Under 50 Teas I really did not like and most likely got dumped
