First off, I am surprised there are not more reviews for this blend. I remember when DAVIDSTEA released new blends and countless reviews would go up within hours of the tea being released…oh the heyday of DAVIDs…and steepster. Sometimes I worry that the time of tea has passed since so many stores/companies have closed over the years and it just seems like interest has faded sometimes.
Anyways, I got this blend from *Roswell Strange.” Thank you!! My plan was to use my free 50 g for this but it wasn’t put on the website soon enough and I didn’t have time to get to the store. However, I have it now and it has been used for my daily eggnog latte.
I figured it would have a strong enough flavour to hold up to latte prep method and the eggnog. While I hadn’t tried it before, you can just smell the strong flavouring. Plus my friends in Montreal got very excited when they saw all the tea Roswell Strange so kindly shared with me and they wanted to smell it all…and try some of the more interesting pieces of the dry blends. One of those interesting pieces was the little glitter cubes in this which ended up being a whole lot of glittery cinnamon. While it is sweet cinnamon, the sheer amount packed into the cube made it simultaneously spicy which made for a weird flavour experience. So, while I haven’t actually tried this tea before, based on the smell and that tasting, I knew it would work for a latte.
Taste wise this is sweet. Very sweet. And cinnamon heavy for sure. Sweet yet spicy cinnamon like red hots. Do I like it? I honestly don’t know. Maybe? Like as an eggnog latte it isn’t bad and a nice change from more subtle flavours. However, I don’t know how good it would be plain…and that’s how you’d need to make it to truly enjoy the glitter aspect. I think this is one of those flavours that is so strong that to truly enjoy it, you’d need to really be craving it. And when those cravings come up, only this will satisfy.
