78 Tasting Notes
Astringent and mildly bitter. Smelled like a nice strong cup of tea. Could go well for a cup of afternoon tea if you like to add sugar and the such. Still enjoyable, but would not buy.
Flavors: Astringent, Bitter, Grapes

This is delicious! So so smooth! The flavor is a yummy roasted oolong taste. Get the steeping right and you have a good cup of tea on your hands. I wouldn’t say its floral, but maybe a little fruity-sweet.
Flavors: Fruity, Roasted, Smooth, Sweet

This assam was not one of my “leafy” tasting experiences, but it was nothing particularly bold or exciting either. It tastes smooth, with some astringency afterwards. The flavor was pretty standard, a little sweet. Not bad.

Sweet darjeeling, be careful not to over-steep. Drank this a long time ago, but forgot to record my review. Still had a little left, I didn’t really believe everyone’s “grape” profile of it. But that’s actually pretty spot on for the sweet taste! Be gentle with this delicate darjeeling, it will yield you a refreshing cup of tea.
Flavors: Grapes, Grass, Sweet

I loved the dry and wet leaves’ smells, more unique than other assams from GTT. The flavor itself was more mild than comparable assams, but also with less astringency. I felt there was a more nutty flavor than the typical malt. Yummy, but not so bold.
Flavors: Nutty
Preparation
As the name entails, the dry leaf has pretty gold mixed throughout. Being an assam, it brews up with that familiar heavy, leafy scent. It has a very pretty blood orange color. It’s a strong assam. Some astringency and some bitter, nutty flavor. I do like the full-bodied-ness of it. Don’t think I’d buy this, but I’m gonna fool around with the rest of my sample and see if I can get a more pleasant brew out of it. Might be a decent base for you sugar lovers.
Flavors: Astringent, Autumn Leaf Pile, Bitter, Nutty

Hm, I didn’t think it was very bold myself, but for my relationship with green tea, this was a good thing. The vegetal element to it was very mild and pleasant, and the flavor reached some sweet notes. It was a refreshingly light green, I would drink it again if offered to me.

Sample from the 5 for $5 deal!
Gongfu’d it at 205 degrees and with the instructions on Verdant’s website.
Okay, so I enjoyed this with some friends in my dorm lounge. Everybody was very pleased with the tea! I also enjoyed it. It brews into a very light liquor with a sweet honey smell.
The taste was very refreshing. That being said, I’m not quite sure I get the fanaticism behind this tea. Its good, but Steepster almost seems to treat it like the epitome of Chinese blacks. To be fair though, looking at the price, this is a very admirable quality tea with a nice pricetag. I taste honey and chocolate. It has a very mild earthy tone. It lasted well under about 10 steepings in my little Yixing. I think this would be really good iced… Next time I order from verdant, I might throw in some of this just for that purpose! Give it a try!

It’s changed over the past two years with different harvests…I’d say a couple years ago it was much more than it is today heh. Imo there are better black teas out there but I very much like the flavour profile and the fact that it works well in a travel mug and at home, and no matter what I seem to do with it, it gives me a consistent cup. Heh but there are teas I love more…but they’re pricier and more finicky…
Good point! I didn’t know about the consistency factor since I just have a sample. That would be very helpful for a daily morning drink.. Thanks for sharing!
