A dominant clove flavor, with cinnamon and cardamon not far behind. I was worried this was going to be more chai-like with the cardamon in there, but instead it’s a very mild, slightly calming blend.
There’s definitely the smoothness and very subtle flavor of vanilla here, as well as a pretty classic orange rind flavor. It isn’t a fake flavor, though, and adds a mulled spice feel to the cup. I’m not really tasting much in the way of almond, but the rose sneaks through just slightly in the aftertaste. Both add a lovely presentation effect though.
The black base is brisk and punchy and in balance with the spices and other flavors. There’s just a mild amount of astringency in the base, but no bitterness. I don’t think this is a cup I’d seek out, but it’s perfect for the season, and a good cup in its own right.
Thanks TastyBrew.

Oooh. This is nummy.
The tea part of this one is a medium-bodied base, with notes of cocoa and some fruit. The coconut and almond impart a roasted warmth and add a little bit of heaviness to an already creamy and rich mouthfeel. The vanilla, though, is easily the star of the cup. And it’s real, warming, flavorful vanilla. This is definitely one of the best vanilla teas I’ve had.
Thank you very much TastyBrew!
Preparation
This is one of my guilty pleasure teas.
Like, I know objectively it’s not much better than mediocre. But it was part of my first order to Adagio ever, and it’s had a place in my cupboard ever since.
The blueberry taste is subtle, and the white tea very lightly straw-like and flowery. Overall, it’s crisp and refreshing and definitely best iced.
Preparation
Brewed up a second run of this with milk and sugar this time. It tastes less like like melted cookie dough ice cream like I thought it would, and more caramel-ly and nutty and candy-brittle-like. It does taste a good deal less like cookie dough this way, though, which is weird.
Still. This is definitely the way to drink this one.
I’m not a big davids teas fan these days either, but this one is on the ‘less annoying’ scale. The taste is weak I agree, but at least it doesn’t turn funky? Hah idk. It’s nice to try. I have one friend who loves it. And I love brewing it for her :)
Admittedly, I like my cookies baked more than in dough form; so I’m probably not the target audience of this tea. But this does taste almost exactly like those cookie dough balls you find in ice cream — vanilla extract, the kind of not-so-great chocolate and sweet dough. There’s a little bit of smooth nuttiness tossed in there somewhere too. And I’d venture to say that milk and sugar would make cookie dough ice cream in a cup.
Unfortunately, like a lot of David’s I’ve tried, this one is a little watery overall, and I like how it smells more than how it tastes. And I really don’t like the chocolate flavors they use. At all. It always tastes like artificially flavored chapstick in the aftertatse.
Thanks for the chance to try this Shmiracles!
Preparation
While not a favorite, this is a nice dark oolong. Definitely some fruity flavors coming through, primarily nectarine and plantain. It’s not as sweet as peaches, and is definitely on the greener side of the fruits I tasted. Definitely a roasty element, that doesn’t taste like smoke, but more like crunchy fall leaves. It’s a very flavorful and warming cup.
Thanks Shelley_Lorraine.
Preparation
Made this with 2 oz of milk and 1 tsp of sugar and it’s just like eating/drinking melted strawberry ice cream. I’m bumping up the score a little bit because this is uncanny and a little awesome.
Would I buy this tea? Still probably not, but I might change my mind when I whittle down my stash some. It has a niche it fills.
Guayusa is totally something I wouldn’t serve to friends. Or maybe friends who totally don’t care that their tea is the color of murky water. Which is a-ok with me, because that just means I get more.
This was more lavender and vanilla today as I drank the whole cup piping hot. I find that as this one cools the spearmint flavors creep into the limelight, though the strong grassy earth flavors of the guayusa stay subdued throughout. I’m still finding the experience of drinking this to be extremely calming without putting me to sleep.
I need to get Fiance onboard the guayusa train, so I can justify having a couple different flavors. This should totally be my midterm and finals tea.
