71 Tasting Notes

Got a sample of this and several other Adagio teas in a recent knitting swap. I’m in love! This is a most excellent chai. LOVE the spiciness of it, the strong scent upon opening the packet, and the boldness even after adding milk! It’s got that lovely full-mouth feel, plus the warmth of the spices. Makes for a great tea when you’re cold, when you don’t feel well, etc. LOVE!

Had this one again this morning! I’m always afraid the first time I smell it after I haven’t had it for a couple of days, since it smells exactly like a yucky rooibos, but it never tastes like that. This one is a favorite of mine, still, with it’s pumpkin-y spicy goodness. Nice as a breakfast tea with some milk and sugar :)

Another cup of this one this morning- it’s too cold, but I love this weather. It’s still gingerbread-y and good. Yummy! Just thought of something: It reminds me of Ginger Snaps! Super yum!

Is this new? I don’t remember seeing it before.

Backlogging!

I’ve had 2 cups of this so far, and I love it! I can totally see what all the fuss is about, though I don’t understand why the brewing time is so low. I don’t like it much at 2 minutes, but at 3 or 4, it’s awesome! Reminds me of that Russian Tea powder I made in school in 5th grade under Mrs. Hutchinson, who took several trips to Russia as a missionary(I think). Anyway, I love the orange-y flavor and the spice, and it’s very comforting to me. Reminds me of my childhood most definitely. Thanks to all who sing the praises of this tea for making me want to try it!

Thanks for the reminder! I need to pull my box out and make some. It is a holiday time kind of tea for me!

TeaBrat

This was my favorite tea for a long time!

I remember that tea powder stuff! Funny, at the time I thought that was cutting edge and elegant :)

I’ve seen a lot of comments—myself included—that Constant Comment was the “gateway tea” that launched an ocean of addictions.

IrishBreakfastLass

It’s so good! I’ve been having it almost daily- love that orange-y flavor :)

This is a really good one. It’s not bitter in the slightest, and there’s cinnamon and pumpkin flavors that are prominent. Nice full mouth flavor. Yummy!

I had this one as my before-bed tea last night, and I have to admit that I was almost expecting it to be terrible. It smells like candy canes straight out of the box, and upon brewing, the scent is pretty close to that of a certain kind of melt away soft mint I like. The flavor is almost spot on for it too. It’s very tasty, at least if you like candy canes or those soft peppermint pieces. I found it quite relaxing, too :)

My first cup of the day. I was afraid it would taste too strongly of ginger upon opening the bag since the smell was SO STRONG. It made me sneeze. But, brewing, it started smelling just like these ginger cookies I like from Wal-mart. Alone, it’s ok, but with a bit of sugar and some milk, I get almost that exact flavor. Pretty tasty! The ginger is not so strong that you gag from it, but it’s most definitely a ginger tea. I like a tea that is what it’s supposed to be and carries it well. That can’t really be said for a lot of teas. I know, it’s just Celestial Seasonings, but it is still GOOD!

I got this in a swap with teataku- Thank you again!

So this one is great for today as the past few days I’ve been FREEZING. It’s a little warmer today, but still most definitely tea weather. The packets of this tea smell SO GOOD. Like spices. The taste- pumpkin pie! It’s very tasty. I’m not getting as much of the pumpkin as I would like, but it’s definitely there, along with some cinnamon and ginger warmth, and something else. Great cuppa when I want something quick and I’m being lazy- plop in a bag and wait!

I love all of Bigelow’s holiday teas. Eggnogg’n is my favorite and (after years of moaning and whining about limited availability) I can finally get it at a local grocery!

I needed a bit of energy this morning after last night’s Halloween antics with 4 kids and a husband in tow. So this one came out. It came from a sample box from KallieBoo, so thanks go to her :)
To be honest, I’m not really digging this tea. It’s too rooibos-y for me. It does have some redeeming qualities though. It’s hot, slightly sweet, and has some spice taste to it. Not one I’d buy for myself though.

I’ve never had much luck with Yogi teas. Too many funky things that distract from whatever the “real” flavor is supposed to be.

KeenTeaThyme

I agree with you both, although the Energizing Mint is pretty decent. There are usually a lot of funky (and not the good kind of funk) involved. Blech.

IrishBreakfastLass

Well now I know. lol Definitely don’t like that ‘cluttered’ feeling in my tea.

Backlog from last night! I had been neglecting some of the teas in my cupboard, and this was one of them. I totally forgot how wonderfully lemony and sweet this one was. It’s delicious, and totally what I think of when I think of lemon tea. I like to put a bit of sugar, and it transforms this into a kind of lemony dessert, like lemon meringue pie or lemon candies. Yummy!

Bio

I’m at-home mother of 4, married 10 years. Tea, like knitting, is therapy for me. It’s a short reprieve from things that frustrate me. And it’s much cheaper than actual therapy. I was raised by my grandparents, both of whom enjoyed a good cup of tea, and they were already set in their ways by the time I came along. They had their tea all picked out, and we drank the same thing pretty much all the time. I just recently started branching out after discovering some new teas in a Round Robin I participated in on Ravelry(my other safe haven where my knitting progress lives), and I’ve been experimenting ever since. I recently tried my first loose leaf, Twinings Irish Breakfast, and I’ve also been getting some samples from Chado Teas. Every time I get a box or packet in the mail it’s like Christmas!

Aside from tea, my life consists of normal mommy-type stuff, of course, and I have 2 girls ages 7 and 9, and two boys ages 3 and 5. But I also enjoy photography, knitting, reading, writing, making collages, and tending to the farm. Did I mention I have 2 horses, goats, chickens, a pig, ducks, working dogs, and a couple of cats? We LOVE animals around here. I also love Dr. Who, many British comedies such as Are You Being Served?, and sarcasm. I suffer from depression and anxiety, hence the need for things to keep my hands busy and my mind on task, and I also have a sensory disorder, which includes a strong aversion to jeans and jean-like materials.

My favorite teas so far:

-Heredia Lemon Verbena
-Chai anything(except Stash, which is, for some reason, quite bland to me)
-Twinings Irish Breakfast
-Twinings Pure Mint
-Numi Aged Earl Grey
-Twinings New Zealand Breakfast
-Twinings Lady Grey

I will add more as I come across them, and some of these will probably fall off the list in favor of others I may prefer.
