drank Rooibos (Organic) by DAVIDsTEA

I’m pretty sure there has to be another entry for this tea somewhere but after five minutes I couldn’t find it, so I’ll be the first to rate it and note it here.

This is my first time drinking straight rooibos. The closest I’ve come before this was some horrid Tetley vanilla infused “red tea” bag over a year ago that was so bad I tossed the container after one cup.

Drinking this as a straight, I can definitely now realize where the rooibos flavour is in all the blended versions I’ve tried. This is deep and earthy and unique, and yet lovely at the same time. I can see why it blends so well with cinnamon now, because I just want to sprinkle some across my cup before I sip.

Since this is my first straight red rooibos, I can’t judge quality, but it definitely seems to me to be a good one, compared to the flavoured rooibos I’ve tried before. For drinking it straight, though, I think I prefer it in green form.

First thought in my head at first sip? “OMG I don’t hate it!”

Yeah, I expected to loathe this one, but I didn’t! Granted, I didn’t finish the cup and it isn’t something I see myself buying again, but I can see someone who likes a kick adding this to a chai and loving it. I can see it being great in Indian cooking too, or just adding a bit of a flair to something.

So no, I didn’t hate it. Hurray!

Despite having the last 9 teas of David’s wall I have yet to try in my possession, I made this one when I got home from work. I needed a comfort tea since I fell in the mud, and this did the trick. Happy teas for the win!

Another tea I got in-store to sample. This time the girl knew how to brew a green and didn’t burn the leaves, something I was extremely grateful for when I took my first sips. This one is definitely vegetal, but less so than others I have tried. The flavour was a delicate one, not overpowering like I expected it to be, which was a pleasant surprise.

Not my favourite straight green, but I did finish the cup of this one.

drank Happy Kombucha by DAVIDsTEA

Mmmm, a peachy flavour with a hint of something else. Nom. I have no idea what a kombucha is or what it tastes like, but if this tea is an example of it, sign me up? I love sipping this one with a dash of agave. And it doesn’t matter, hot or cold, it is always delightful.

I just googled ‘kombucha’, and it’s probably best if you DON’T know what it is…. ugh! wow, learn something new every day…. glad this stuff tastes good though… hopefully nothing too scarey in it….. hopefully….. for some reason, the Adams family comes to mind…. hey! here’s a great tea for Halloween!

Erin

I also love it, and will NOT google it lol I’ve never tried this with Agave, maybe I will give it a go. I usually add Milk to mine.

enjoy_the_pure

I prefer stevia to agave anytime

dee

real kombucha isn’t bad! the only freaky part is its a type of fungus, but it’s supposed to be really good for you if you drink it. helps with digestion and stuff… it IS a pain to make and it has a little alcohol in it because it “brews” for a few days. :P

Daddyselephant

XD I’m with fleurdelily, I liked this tea until I looked up what Kombucha was and it…yeah. Now all I can think of is that and so now I can’t drink the tea anymore >.<

Aisling, yogurt is made very similiarly . . . just think of it as a yogurt?

enjoy_the_pure – Stevia is one of two sweeteners on my “avoid if at all possible” list. It does funny things to my body similar to aspertame, and I really don’t like how it tastes. :( That’s why I adore the agave, it’s delicious, and I only need a little of it.

A friend told me this was her favourite tea, and she was curious what I’d think of it, so I promised her I’d try it. She warned me it is a love/hate thing, so I went in forewarned.

Dry, omg I love the smell of this. Campfires and woodsmoke and I just want to sit and smell it and remember my summers spent camping with a fire every night. I was very excited to try this after smelling that!

I set this to brew on the counter and went back to my computer where I was chatting with friends. Soon I started smelling . . . beef jerky? Clearly my apartment was getting scents from another apartment down the hall, so I didn’t think anything more until my timer went.

But nope, it was the tea that smelled of jerky. I brought the cup over to the computer, and the smell started doing funny things to my stomach. Determined, took a sip, and tasted jerky. Curious, I plugged my nose and tried again, and there, finally was the taste of the tea. I enjoyed it, but two sips and my stomach was saying I couldn’t keep the cup next to me.

So sorry Lapsang Souchong Star . . . my stomach apparently doesn’t like aromatic beef jerky tea.

It is a very rare tea that has me gifting away my entire bag without even brewing it twice, but this was it. I went in hoping and expecting a slightly spicier version of Creme Caramel and got . . . I’m not sure, possibly a clove patch sprinkled with orange juice and dirty feet water?

The person I gifted it to enjoys it, so it has found a better home. Best wishes to it.

If you’re looking for a tea that tastes like biting into a Dairy Milk, this isn’t your tea. But if you want something that definitely has strong chocolate tones while still being a tea, then this is one for you. I always find that my first couple sips have me going “huh? Weird!”. But as I keep sipping the chocolate taste overpowers and I don’t remember the other notes, just the chocolate. Which is good, since that’s why I’m drinking it in the first place :)

drank Elf Help by DAVIDsTEA

After almost a year, I still can’t decide if I like this tea or not. One day I’ll only get through half a cup, the next time I’m almost craving a second. I drank it today to take a break from all my bagged teas, craving something green and flavoured. Got more coconut in this brew than I usually do and I liked it more. Maybe that’s the flavour that’s missing when I get a less-awesome cup? I’m going to have to watch it next time and figure this out! :D

drank Green Tea by Teatulia Teas

Finding this one a pretty average blandish green bagged tea. Of course, I’ve been spoiled by drinking some really excellent greens lately. Think this will be a “keep at work” tea.

Bio

An avid tea addict in the GTA, Ontario, Canada. I’m always looking for new teas and new tea addicted friends!

My preference is loose leaf of all varieties, however the occasional bagged tea can come along and charm me. Flavoured or straight, there is a good chance that I will be falling in love.

My ratings system is based on the smiley faces above the ratings scale.

0-10 — This tea didn’t get past the initial sip process. I just couldn’t bring myself to drink more, I found it so horrible.

11-50 — It made it past first sips, but as I drank a bit more I realized I really wasn’t enjoying the tea, and would never drink it again.

51-60 — I probably made it through the cup, but won’t be trying another one.

61-69 — Either it’s a mystery tea and I can’t decide if I like it or not, or it is one that I felt was purely adequate.

70-85 — These are the teas that I appreciate and/or like. If they are falling in this area they are ones that I would definitely re-buy, however are not ones that I must always have on hand. The good, but not the amazing.

86-94 — These are the favourites. My cupboard feels empty if they aren’t inside.

95-100 — Tea perfection!
