193 Tasting Notes
Thankful this tea is back in my life! I was glad when Frank said he would reblend it if I purchased a pound. Well Happy Valentine’s Day to me! (LOL) I ordered the pound and it arrived yesterday! WOW this was the first time I ever got a pound of tea at one tea (at least of one particular kind- That’s a lot of tea!!! I am in tea heaven! Thanks again 52TEAS!!!!!!! You are wonderful!!!! I enjoyed a cup of this at work this am!
For those interested in knowing, my mom LOVES this tea! She texted me while I was at work just to let me know how much she liked it and she posted a message of her love for it on my facebook wall! Think she likes it :)
I LOVE THIS!!!! I couldn’t wait to try the pineapple sencha after trying the apple sencha earlier this afternoon. I ordered the apple for my mom and the pineapple for me. This is so so good! I did use the recommended short steep time of 30sec. and boiling water and the pineapple taste is simply amazing! I think this would be great iced but I am enjoying this hot. It kind of gives me the feeling of summer but with warmth during these cold cold days here in Pennsylvania. This one will be on the reorder list for sure! I think next time I am going to order the orange sencha as well!
Thanks to Kristin for this sample! I actually sent her some Talbott tea Luscious Lemon Meringue and she sent me this one. I have to agree with her. These teas taste almost identical! So if you miss special teas Lemon chiffon try Talbott Teas Luscious Lemon Meringue
I placed my first Den’s Tea order and it came really quickly! I ordered the $3 sampler for novices and am really looking forward to broadening my horizons and trying them! My ultimate is to one day try matcha! Have been a little timid and nervous for some reason about Matcha. I figured a great place to start would be Den’s tea sampler to try some Japanese greens!
I actually ordered the apple sencha and pineapple sencha in addition to the sampler pack. The apple sencha specifically for my mom but I took some out of the pack to try. It is great…really taste quality in this. The apple is awesome. Now I can’t wait to break in the pineapple sencha! Really like this, too bad that pouch went home with my Momma! Can’t wait to see what she thinks of it!!
Preparation
Whenever you order, you can also request a sample of anything, just so you can try it out. But I warn you, you’ll probably end up ordering whatever it is! It’s their clever way to draw you in…. :-) (You can’t get sample sizes of matcha, unfortunately)
I took some of this into work today and after lunch I decided to make a cup. Well I had to step out of my office for something and when I came back in my office smelled DELICIOUS!!!!! (This would make a great scent for one of those plug in things!!!) Yummy
Thanks to Chi of Tea for the sample offer! This is the first of their teas I am trying. Smell from sample pouch=Orange. It is a pleasant orange! This has a hint of ginger taste but orange is the dominant flavor. Very nice! I am hoping the ginger and ginger root in this will help settle an upset stomach from eating a McDonalds Quarter pound cheeseburger last night. That would be great! This is a tea I could definitely see reordering!
Ok this time I steeped for appropriate time and still am getting a “weird” combo…I think it is the berry herbal and black thing that is not meshing well for me. Too berry like medicinal even at the correct steep time. This I must say is the first Harney’s tea I was not super impressed with. I can finish the cup but not something I would reach for again.
I buy chai by the pound all the time:)
How do you store it? I am looking for a tin/canister to store this pound of tea!
Just in the company packaging.
I usually just keep mine in the pouches frank sends them in too but this was just in one huge ziploc bag! Didn’t think it would be good to leave it in that….
Specialty Bottle has a 16oz tin at the bottom of this page: http://www.specialtybottle.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=25 , maybe you could split it into a few of those for better storage? (or something similar?)
Thanks, I currently separated it into a bunch of different tins but was hoping to find a big one to hold all of it in one tin! Probably should just leave it in the couple tins I have it in. It is super delicious…just want it to stay fresh for awhile…even though I know I will probably drink it up quickly. I already took a stash of it into work :)
@ Cofftea just curious… How fast do you go through your pound of chai?
My advice would have been (sorry it stayed in my brain til now lol) is to keep the 2oz packages sealed and away from light and open them only as you need them. I go thru a lb of Tipu’s instant chai in 30-60days depending on how heavy handed I am (it’s usually pretty heavy though lol) and I go thru Frank’s chai in about 42 days.
Kristen, I would have divvied this up into individual pouches, but I actually ended up making more than a pound, and since it was already a bit late, I thought I would just get it out to you.
No problem Frank…it is yummy and I am sure I will go through it quickly anyway. I just put it in a bunch of different tins.
Actually I like one massive pouch. I wish Frank’s Chai would come that way.
