Next in the line of experiments to see what the kids might like. I was rather surprised that neither of them had any love for this, as it is a very smooth, vanilla-y lemon. However, I wasn’t really feeling the love much myself this evening so I suppose I’m not one to talk.

It may be that this hasn’t aged particularly well, so I hesitate to mark down its rating, but I think I’m putting it first in line for sipdown status among the various herbal blends we’re revisiting now.

I am in serious need of some soothing tea today. Having an annoying day and don’t feel so great. This tea hits the spot. I always expect the lemon to be too lemony but it’s not. It’s somehow a mellow lemon flavor, like pie or lemon cookies. It’s consistently better than I expect. I have a big bag of it in the drawer which I always avoid… never understand why. I must forget how tasty it is.

MandyB sent me a bit of this! I’m so excite about it too!

It smells just like Lemon Meringue pie or lemon chiffon, yes! It’s creamy lemon at it’s best!

Mel

That sounds amazingly tasty!

Had this last night to test my new Perfect Steeper by Eight Cranes to see how well the filter worked with the tiny rooibos pieces. And it reminded me why I love this tea. Lemony and creamy and just darned good.

And the Eight Crane’s Perfect Steeper worked REALLY well on the Rooibos.

I don’t like Rooibos. As a senator from Minnesota used to say, “I deserve good things. I am entitled to my share of happiness. I refuse to beat myself up. I am attractive person. I am fun to be with. I’m good enough and I’m smart enough” and I can still not like rooibos. It’s taken me a while to admit it. To realize that all those unfortunate tea episodes had to to with rooibos. From now on I’m going to use decaff teas or straight herbals without this sawdust.

I got some of this tea because of the good reviews. I got myself a really nifty ice-tea maker from Lupicia and made this. It’s got lemon shining through the saw-dust. The predominant taste, for me, is the rooibos. As you can tell from the other reviewers, I am in a minority. This iced tea makes me want a pure lemony black decaff ice tea for my next pitcher.

I agree. Rooibos is hit or miss for me….

Kristin

Oh, so sad. I loved this one. But, I only drank it hot.

Miss Sweet

I hardly like any rooibos, but green rooibos seems to have less of that sawdust taste, if you haven’t tried some already? It seems to taste better with fruity/herbal bits anyway, the few red rooibos blends I like are spicey/chocolatey.

Stephanie

Thank you for killing my lemming for this tea! :) I too am not fond of rooibos but had this on my wish list because of all the rave reviews. I’m happy to read that it’s not “all that” —especially for a non-rooibos person. :)

There are few flavorings I know of that can put the flavor of rooibos in the background, so if you’re not a roo lover, this isn’t for you. But if you are, this is so nice and smooth and mellow and desserty!

Tried my first cup straight up, 5 min steep, water just below boiling. Next time, I’m thinking a little milk and, yep, lemon meringue in a cup.

I totally understand why everyone is raving about this Rooibos. Personally I find red Rooibos bitter so I often choose green rooibos instead. However, every sip of this I can’t ignore the perfect balance of lemongrass. It actually makes me forget why I don’t typically drink red rooibos. I agree with what everybody says here. I love this tea!

In the bag- delicious lemon meringue pie. I wanted to tip the sample pouch back and chew on the rooibos. But, trying not to appear shifty, and like the type of person who does such things, I put on the kettle. I brewed this at double-strength the first time because I wanted to absolutely submerge myself in its lemony-sweetness. Brewed, this is as good as I’d hoped. It needs no sweetening, I think- but I don’t often sweeten anything other than chai. It’s lemony, but with a sugary kick to it…. I expect I’ll be ordering more than a sample size of this one!

I find your ‘I don’t often sweeten anything other than chai" statement interesting. Do you sweeten it cuz it needs it, or cuz it’s “supposed” to be sweetened? Just curious:) I’ve sweetened chai once, and once only, and found that it actually damaged the flavors… ok, not really damaged but deminished- and in my opinon deminished tea flavors is damaged tea because it’s not as good as it should be.

Lisbet

Traditionally, it’s brewed with milk, honey, and spices- and that’s still the way we often make it at my house. :)

Cofftea

I want to try ROT’s chai honey, but I really think that’s the only sweetener I’d ever use.

Kristin

On the other hand, I sweeten everything! :)
