336 Tasting Notes
I was so exited to try the new and improved Zodiac Series, which you can find under “gifts.” It is definitely an upgrade from the previous version.
The tea looks amazing with the bright marigold petals and cornflowers. It is delightfully complex, yet light: green and white tea blended seamlessly with apricot, pear, rooibos and chamomile.
Very calming and refreshing.
Preparation
This quite mild and and quite smokey, perhaps a bit too much smokiness for my taste. Still pretty enjoyable. When cooling down even more smokiness comes through.
Made a Pinterest board matching Zodiac teas and books: http://pinterest.com/moodsappetites/tea-books/
Preparation
Working on a design for Antique Silver company selling unique 19th century silver pieces (many tea sets as well) so it seemed appropriate to brew some Rose tea + had a small piece of cranberry scone.
Wondering why my butler doesn’t show up …
Preparation
One of my favorites. It has a lively “bite” and sparkling character.
Just checked Spring Darjeeling from MARIAGE FRÈRES. 30,00 € Hmmm … I’ll stick with Adagio for now.
Preparation
I believe Adagio is selling their Spring Darjeeling for USD19 for 2 ounces. If you do the math, the prices of Mariage and Adagio comes out about even. 4 ounces is about 100g. 30 Euros is USD38.
You can find two great Darjeelings from Mariage(Jungpana Spring, Bloomfield Spring) for 28 Euros, which is a lower price than Adagio’s Spring Darjeeling. You can also find Mariage Spring Darjeelings (Orange Valley, Geille, and Princeton) all of them be less than 20 Euros.
One thing I hhate about Mariage Freres is they do not offer free shipping regardless of how much you order.
Thanks for the input. Shipping makes a difference + with Adagio you get customer loyalty discount and it all ads up. I still like Marriage teas; I think they are great. Do you know any other vendor that sells Spring Darjeeling?
I’ve had some good ones from Tea Trekker. They have great customer service. Thunderbolt also have some good Spring Darjeelings but sometimes it takes up to a month to receive your teas from them.
This is somewhat contradictory tea: it’s earthy but light at the same time. It also has a “clean” taste. It’s a perfect after dinner tea. I had vegetables from the farmers market, black beans with herbs and feta and marinated tofu strips and finished it with a cup of tea. That was SO good.
Sadly this was the last cup left. Everybody in my family likes this so it did not last long.
Preparation
This is complex, rich and at the same time light tea. It has also what I can describe as “mineral” taste that I find so appealing. I’m having a piece of raw, extreme dark chocolate with my cup. So good ….
Preparation
Amazing. Turns out I love this kind of Pu-Erh. It’s not funky or fishy at all. The underlaying flavors I can detect are apple and honey. I had this with a small piece of raw, extra dark chocolate: what a perfect pairing. Will certainly reorder.
I just saw that Adagio teas now has a tumblr and they have posted the new Zodiac Series tins. I worked on the design in December and finally I can see the finished product. So exited!
Preparation
Wuyi is one of my favorite teas ever. I almost always have at least one variety in my cupboard. This was less dark/toasty than I expected, still very nice. I did detect some herbal (rosemary?) undertone. However, the tea magically transforms when cooling down – all the lovely toasty flavor shines through.
This sounds nice and quite appropriate for the Cancerians (of which I’m one). I also liked your post when you paired all of the signs with books :)
Thanks. i appreciate that.
IMHO books and tea = a perfect gift. Cancer is not my sign but I chose it because it’s hot and humid here in NYC so I was in a mood for a lighter tea.
The credit for the new blends goes to Cynthia from Adagio Teas. Some of the Zodiac blends are an upgraded versions but some are completely new.
