336 Tasting Notes
I have these strange cycles: I drink green tea only for some time and then switch and drink blacks/dark oolongs only. Why this happens I have no idea. After drinking Japanese greens only for 3-4 months I have changed my habits yet again. The reason: Adagio’s new Master collection. After trying the samplers I was sure I would buy a larger amount but which one to choose as they all were so good?
I was torn between Golden Curls and Wuyi Da Hong Pao. Finally went with Wuyi. “Roasted vegetables” or “peach” doesn’t in my opinion describe this tea properly. It’s so complex, rich and absolutely wonderful. It certainly brightens my day. Worth every penny!
Preparation
I love ordering from the Strand Tea Company – the tea is great, shipping fast plus you get a free sample and even a cookie.
This blend looks really pretty: Dragon Well-type leaves, rose petals and Sunflower Blossoms. The description says it’s mango flavored but to me it tastes more like sweet citrus. This is one of my favorite flavored greens.

Preparation
Inguna….I just saw that the Gemini blend is sold out….is it still being blended, or is it gone for good? I love that blend (and the hazelnut/vanilla oolong/irish breakfast one)…
I believe it’s just temporarily out of stock. Adagio said that most missing blends should be be back by the end of the month.
Strangely I have never tried this tea before. The leaves look beautiful: a combination of dark and light green crumpled in interesting and exotic shapes. The smell is light, fresh a bit grassy, reminds me of countryside.
Here’s what Wang Mei Rui, the farmer growing this tea, says: “It is very important to enjoy tie kuan yin with heart. First we need to be calm and quiet. Second it is very important to use natural water and gong fu tea set to brew teas with friends. The natural water includes mineral water, well water, and mountain spring water. Distilled water and tap water cannot be used.”
The last part makes me smile. This tea is part of the Roots Campaign by Adagio, directly benefiting the farmers.
Taste: it’s light (lighter than I imagined) complex, floral. Our family poll – my husband liked it a lot, I liked it and my daughter: not so much.
Preparation
Today I have had perhaps 7-8 cups of Sencha and in fact I’m going to have some more!
