I’ve only had a couple of genmaicha varieties; this is definitely the better one.
I was a little suspicious since the hibiscus was the first on the ingredient list, but lazy and in a hurry (are those terms contradictory?) so I just dumped the bag in the cup and stuck it in the work microwave.
Nice surprise. No tartness! Just good and fruity. Kudos to CS for a fruit tea that doesn’t break you out in a sour sweat.
It’s fun to get a tea treat (thanks, Doulton!) that you have no preconceived notions about and then to be absolutely blown away by how good it is. As good as getting a birthday present.
This is an excellent pairing, It steeped almost a dark walnut color; smells fruity and barky. The first word that popped into my mind when I tasted this was “clarity .” It’s not murky or bitter (Darjeelings can turn on you if you’re not careful); must be the snappy Yunnan keeping it in line.
A lovely warm-me-up after being out on a chill and soggish day.
Rereading the descriptions and ratings attached to this one…tobacco and leathery adjectives keep coming up. Yep, it’s in there.
Perfect for an honest-to-pete, bona fide rainy day (we haven’t had one of those in a long while). No milk or sugar—smoke and dairy just don’t go together for me.
I really, really, really want to like Earl Grey because so many of you out there have such lovely EG experiences. (Hello, my name is __ and I am a people pleaser :) However, what happens most of the time is that I am enchanted by the lovely bergamot scent, then deeply disappointed that what I’m drinking tastes like floor cleaner.
So this is a landmark occasion—-I like this one! The bergamot tastes natural, not chemical, and isn’t so annoyingly cloying you can’t taste the black tea.
Nicely done, Numi.
I got distracted (doesn’t take much these days) and let this sit way, way too long. Fortunately, you can’t over-roo rooibos, so the only effect that was it was extra thickish and yogurty and milky. I always thought tiramisu had a little maple in it too, which isn’t present here, but it’s a nice sweet dessert tea.
Was tickled to find a bag that survived the tornado tin from my office … doesn’t look like it’s available any more.
Since my supply is dwindling, I didn’t want to ruin it, so was v-e-r-y cautious with time and temp (low on on both, so the green half didn’t go bitter) and it turned out just perfectly. A little sweet, a little fruity, a little vegetal—a nice little tripod of flavors.
