1733 Tasting Notes
First time, I only used five leaves with two of them being large. First and last steep was creamy, green and vegetal. The second steep at five minutes was pretty good. The nai xiang or milk fragrance was nice and balanced followed by mango or pineapple, possibly, in the notes. I upped the leaves later and it was still creamy and green, but the notes were a bit overwhelmed. So, I’m close to finding the right balance.
Flavors: Creamy, Grass, Green, Mango, Milk
The perks of being the friend of groovy people: they know herbs and they know tea. A friend granted me a whopping ounce of a lavender, red rooibos, and holy basil blend and it is super lovely and balanced. Awesome on its own or with honey. Simply lovely.
I over-leafed last time. Only six leaves this time at about three ounces, 190, Western at 3 minutes, and this got a balance I’m digging more. Sweeter than last time with nice roasted nuts followed by a nice vegetal woody spectrum. The marine notes are more in the later steeps. Instead, I got a very strong roasted cedar taste, maybe even a pine. I like it so much more, and I am glad that I have 10 grams of it. Not too much, not too little.
