193 Tasting Notes
Mmm, I forgot how much I loved this one. Almost a sip down for me, I have just enough left for a bowl brew. I’ll have to add this to my re-purchase list though. This is one of my favorite Jin Xuans. Not the creamy floral type ( à la Green Terrace) I love so much, but the delicious fruity style. Lots of tropical fruit notes swimming in a custard. So so good. Not my everyday preference but I certainly like it enough to keep on hand for times I crave this style.

Oh, god. This is truly awful. I usually stay away from Red Leaf’s fruity flavors, but I thought this would be okay as it’s also a cream flavor which Red Leaf positively excels at. Unfortunately I was very much mistaken. Not only did this taste absolutely nothing like strawberry or cream, it was so rancid smelling I threw away the tin without even attempting to clean it. Saving it wouldn’t be worth breathing in that awful odor.
Not the worst tea I’ve had from them (I’m looking at you watermelon matcha), but it has reaffirmed my decision to stay away from fruit flavors offered by Red Leaf.
Sipdown! Although I probably shouldn’t count it as I picked up more… a lot more in Tealux/Tealyra’s Halloween sale. But It’s not here yet so I’m marking it down.
This tea is honestly so damn good. Brown sugary sweet with notes of sweet potato, strawberry, apricot and malt. It really shines gongfu, but western brewed it does just fine too. If you haven’t tried this one yet, I definitely recommend picking up a bit to try. It’s one of the best teas I’ve had.

This one is so yummy! I don’t gravitate toward Darjeelings, and to be honest I don’t even remember why I picked up a sample in the first place (on sale probably), but as soon as I had my first cup I was already plotting my next What-Cha order and soon after came away with a full 50g, as well as a few more Darjeeling samples. I think what I’m finding is that I greatly prefer the 2nd flush Darjeelings.
This one is just lovely. Medium bodied with that spicy note I find in a lot of Darjeelings, a lovely malty flavor and some sweet dried fruits. Fantastic. Glad I tried it.

I finally finished off my 2oz of this one. Took me ages, but it was a satisfying sip-down. I have to say I didn’t find this as interesting as others did. It was a pretty middle-of-the-road shou. General earthy flavors, but with a nice thick mouthfeel. No noticeable qi. I relegated this one to helping with occasional after-dinner bloat, rather than drinking it for pleasure.
Overall, not a bad shou. Nothing particularly offensive about it, just a bit dull.
Flavors: Earth, Wet wood
Tropical fruit swimming in custard? Sounds delicious!!
It’s really good! Tealyra is always having sales too, so it’s especially nice for the price.
And Canadian too. Especially of interest to Canadians now that our dollar is suffering so badly. Thanks for this!
