This tea is roasty and toasty with notes of coffee and caramel. The dark chocolate notes are far away in the background but make an appearance every once in awhile. The vegetal notes are minimal. There is a slight underlying sweetness and smoothness to this dark oolong. The leaves once brewed remain slightly curled up and very dark.
Resteeped at 7 and 10 minutes.
Preparation
That one is probably one of my favorites from Whispering Pines. I’ve yet to find a darker oolong like it. Most of them have either been too char like or too salty (if that makes sense).
Thank you for the sample Brenden!!
The pretty gold leaves went into my infuser with an earthy aroma of creamy dark cocoa and a hint of fruit. This translates well into the taste as well. The flavours and cocoa notes are a little lighter than the other pu’erh I tried but I don’t mind to have on days that I want something a little on the lighter side. I enjoyed this cuppa and have more for another cup or two.
Resteeped for 4&5 minutes.
Preparation
These dry snails are so pretty and it is an experience to watch them unfurl.
This tea smells amazing.
The taste is pretty spectacular. It is sweet potatoe and honey bread. There are slighter notes of malt, chocolate, and molasses. I didn’t get any gardenia notes as in the description, but it does have a creamy mouthfeel.
I am really loving these yunnan black teas.
I resteeped for 5&8 minutes.
Preparation
I am really enjoying my Whispering Pines order! All the teas seem to be very high quality!
This kind of tea is quickly becoming my favourite…malty chocolate.
This tea is malty chocolate with some caramel in the forefront. As the tea cools, the fruity notes take over, primarily plum and raisin (it says current in the description though). I have no idea what longan fruit is, so I can’t pick that note up. I also don’t really get the salted caramel but that’s ok, it’s probably just my palate. It isn’t that refined.
Resteeped at 5&8 minutes.
Flavors: Caramel, Cocoa, Malt, Plum, Raisins
Preparation
I was surprised by how dark this brewed up. The smell is amazing. Cinnamon is the strongest smell and taste. The berries add a nice note to this, slightly tart/sweet. I think it is the basil that it giving it a minty feel. This tea feels like sitting by a cozy fireplace after a walk in the woods.
I resteeped at 7 and 10 minutes.
Note to self: don’t use the glass infuser and mug because the small bits get stuck and are hard to get out!
Preparation
Ooh this is good. It is creamy and tropical with notes of pineapple and mango. The vegetal notes are a little more prominent than I was expecting, but that is ok. I find be that I got quite a bit of the plumeria notes as well, although I likely would not have picked out the particular flower, but it was provided in the description! I guess I cheated a bit. I resteeped per recommendations at 2,3,5 minutes. It holds up very well through the resteeps.
Preparation
I really enjoyed this one today. Honey oat bread comes to mind when I drink this tea. Stone fruit was also a fairly prominent note. I didn’t really get the salted caramel notes. The eucalyptus showed up for me more in the second and third steeps.
Resteeped at 5&8 minutes per the websites’ recommendations.
Why does it default to 1tsp when you enter in 1.5?
Flavors: Bread, Honey, Stonefruit
Preparation
noms! farewell tasty tea. Momma wants some more sipdowns so you were had today haha. Enjoy this one, not sure if i’ll pick it up again since it fell a little flatter for me than others who seemed to really love it.
edit: 135 roswell! (not that i have a lot of sipdown reachable teas lol)
Pulled this one out again today as i wanted some puerh but wasn’t up for 10+ sessions. With this one i can do 1-3 and still feel like i’ve given the tea a chance to be. I enjoy this tea – a nice blend of shou and cocoa…as it cools, it becomes even more of a hot chocolate like cup of tea.
Pulled this one out again today after a long hike in the woods with rental dog and other half. Sadly, i’m not getting the depth of flavour that others are, even though it’s still an enjoyable cup. I’m hoping the second steeping will open things up and make for a tasty treat.

My first tea from the Pu TTB!
The dry leaves are tippy and medium brown to gold. It’s a very creamy shu with mineral, moss and cocoa notes, and it gains a bit of fruityness as it goes on. A nice young ripe that could definitely benefit from further aging
Flavors: Cocoa, Cream, Mineral, Moss
Preparation
This tea is really solid. I was drinking with it with a friend whom I’m trying to get into tea, so I decided to do one of my favorite blacks. We were talking and all of a sudden he says, “I feel really relaxed…Like abnormally relaxed. Is that the tea?”
I laughed and said, “Yeup, that’s the tea!”
I proceded to give him some of my tea in hopes that he’ll get into it and share with his friends and family.
Tea is good!
Wow, this tea! It is a very comforting cuppa. The vanilla is very smooth and pure. I get a sweetness that lingers, which is a likeness toward the cherry notes. The cocoa notes develop slowly and almost “roll” onto my tongue.
I feel like this tea has a lot of layers.
Resteeped for 5 and 8 minutes per the website recommendations. The third steep was starting to lose that wonderful vanilla, but it was still delicious
Flavors: Cherry, Cocoa, Vanilla
Preparation
This is a very good for me to ease into the world of pu’erh. I am still developing a taste for the earthiness and fermentation. The cocoa nib adds body and depth to this tea without overwhelming the pu’erh taste. I don’t know much yet about this kind of tea, but to me, the base would likely be a little sweet on its own.
I resteeped this for 5 and 10 minutes per the websites recommendations and both steeps were just as delicious.
