Twinings

This is a great product from Twinings, I would recommend this to another human. I just recently switched from drinking coffee to tea. I get more of a caffeine buzz without the bitter taste of coffee, less heartburn throughout the day and and overall, it is cheaper. If you are just buying this product in the teabags, all you need is boiling water and your favorite cup. I enjoy drinking this without any sugar or milk. I personally dislike sugary products of any kind. If I feel like bringing out other flavors I will add fresh lemon and honey. ;)

Thick and nutty, it make me feel quite warm, relax and comfort. Nice tea for daily drinking!

I’ve added a small lemon slice and sweetened it with half of a packet of Truvia; I’m disappointed, actually, that I’d never had Earl Grey before today.

I didn’t get around to making tea until after lunchtime today, so I decided to take a break from my recent steady diet of blacks to return to one of my all-time favorites. The subtle but entirely unique flavor of gunpowder green never disappoints. One of my perennial afternoon staples!

Another one of the teas from the variety pack I got for a guest. I just tried a couple mouthfuls to not upset my stomach, but even from that I can tell you I like this better than the Irish breakfast. That’s because this one’s a bit lighter and it has some sweet notes. I especially noticed this in my “sample” which was the second infusion of the bag. Overall a good choice to keep around for guests.

This is one of the teas I bought for a guest that’s staying over. I tried a small cup (not too much cause black tea can upset my stomach). I steeped it for a very short time in 200 degree F water, and the taste is a standard, only slightly bitter, strong black tea. I’m not as good at picking up subtle tastes in black tea (compared to green tea), so I hope this review is sufficient!

I believe my mouth had a seizure when I drank this.

However, if you spill this tea over a lunch box and leave it there for an hour it will smell like perfume for the next few weeks…

This tea bites.
I struggled to finish my cup.
Maybe I should blend this with some other tea?

Paid HKD103 (roughly GBP9, USD13.5) for 200g loose leaf.
I guess I shouldn’t buy generic Darjeeling tea, I was bound to be disappointed.
I wished I had saved my money and time for a more special single estate second flush Darjeeling.

For the amount I paid (HKD103, roughly GBP9, USD13.5 for 200g), I think this is very good tea. I think it’s better than some of the more expensive ones from other brands. I also like it that I can make this tea without care and know that it will still taste good.
I am still very new to tea, I couldn’t tell if the bergamot fragrance was from real natural oil or artificial flavouring, but I loved it in this tea, I found it refreshing.
I can drink this any way, plain black, with only milk, with only sugar, or with both milk and sugar.

Seems the main complaint with this one is its bitterness. Can’t say I disagree. It’s a very dry, papery, bitter flavor, but with a little sugar it mellows a bit. It’s not bad, and for a bagged tea it’s a decent option, one that I’ve purchased more than once. However there are better Orange Pekoes out there. Oddly enough I like the Stop & Shop brand OP tea better, it’s a little lighter and not as dry.

Tastes pretty good, I made it in a two litre flask and drank it iced. Beautiful honeyed green tea flavor with a nice mellow floral effect, but I can’t help but think it’s an artificial floral flavor because it’s so consistent with the aroma and frankly doesn’t taste very natural. Nevertheless, it tastes really, really nice.

This cup is tart but that’s exactly what I think of when I see pomegranate and raspberry. It does taste juicy but I’m not really picking up on any fresh raspberry flavor. Maybe this one is meant to be more pomegranate, but it’s really more of a general berry flavor. I can also smell and taste the hibiscus. It’s sweet though so I’m enjoying it.

A coworker/friend of my husband’s is staying with us for a short period of time until he gets his new apartment. He doesn’t drink coffee, and apparently loves steeped tea from Tim Horton’s and all I have for tea is loose leaf greens/herbals. So I decided to pick up a variety pack from Wal-Mart of different black teas from Twinning’s (it came in a 20 tea bag variety where as other black teas were told in 72 tea bag varieties… I only drink black tea on occasion and there is no way I’m going to go through that much black tea before it goes stale).

So, I was at work and my loose leaf green tea spilled out of my tea filter on the inside of my purse so I decided to steal one of the earl grey tea bags. I know I over steeped it a little bit (probably for around 3 min) when I would have preferred it being less than 1 min. Either way it’s still decent: good amount of bergamot and not too astringent. I can only drink this on occasion due to a sensitive stomach, but it’s a nice “treat” when I can. Still not as good as loose leaf of course, but decent for a bagged tea. And its good to keep around for company as well :).

Not a bad tea bag. I was sad to see that the teabag itself said “not real almond” though. There are hints of marzipan type flavoring on a strong black tea with a bit of spices – mostly getting licorice with hints of cinnamon at the top of the cup. Nice to try. I’ve certainly had worse from Twinnings (not my favorite teabag brand.)

I pulled out a bag of this a few days ago, because I wanted some caffeine and I wasn’t in the mood for something tart. I was afraid the water was too hot, but it was actually quite pleasant to drink. Definitely tart, though I couldn’t really pick out any individual fruit flavors, except maybe raspberry. Overall, I enjoyed it, but not enough to crave it.

I just made a big pot with the last five bags I had. I see I stretched it out not to make it last, but because it wasn’t all that great by itself. Normally I would use it one or two bags at a time combined with other fruity or herbal teas, to make the flavor fuller. All by itself it seems lacking, like there should be more flavor than there is, even after long steeping. I get the flavor of red generic berries, rather than a crisp cranberry note. It’s neither sweet nor bitter—just sort of blah, really. I will say the flavor perked up more once I had added sugar. I liked it better than Teavana’s Sweet Cranberry Black, but that’s damning with faint praise. There are many teas better than this one, though it blends well with other teas.

No time for specific taste details right now, another brewing later.

Twinings English Breakfast is my all-time favourite tea, but this new flavour was introduced to me by my mum and now I think it’s my new fave. I still include milk and sugar because the flavouring isn’t strong, but has delicate honey and vanilla scents. I love it!
