drank Victorian Earl Grey by Tiesta Tea

Backlog:

I enjoyed this quite a bit. You know me, I do love my Earl Grey … and I liked this combination of rose, lavender and bergamot with the black tea. The floral tones soften the overall cup … it’s sweet but not too sweet nor does it become perfume-ish.

The black tea is mellow, doesn’t bring a whole lot to the cup, but it is smooth and adds a nice background of flavor. It’s not an overly aggressive black tea, but with the other flavors, I don’t know that an stronger black tea would have worked as well as the tea here did.

The bergamot is flavorful but a little lighter than I like it to be. But overall, I really enjoyed this cuppa.

Backlog:

This tea smells amazing. Very fragrant, nice floral tones and a strong fruity overtone.

Even though the name of the tea evokes thoughts of the cereal – it doesn’t taste like it. But it is a sweet, fruity tasting tea, and I really enjoyed it. I like the combination of the pineapple, papaya and strawberry. It’s a really tasty blend.

I was curious about this tea when I saw it in the Traveling Tea Box. It sounded like a fun blend, with pineapple, strawberry and passionfruit flavors and rose petals! The dry leaves smell sweet and fruity with a hint of floral rose. The tea has a tropical fruit aroma. The flavor is lightly grassy and floral with a subtle fruity finish. The aftertaste is very strong, and I can pick out pineapple and passionfruit flavors. I added some sugar, but it gave it brought out more of the grassiness of the tea. I’m not sure if this tea is supposed to be named after the Fruity Pebbles cereal or not? I am not really getting a lot of the cereal’s flavor from this tea, but it is still a pretty nice cup of tea for the afternoon!

-Dry blend has large green tea leaves and twigs with pieces of dried fruit and rose petals.
-Dry leaves smell sweet and fruity with a hint of floral rose. Tea liquor aroma is of tropical fruit.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium yellow color.
-Light grassy and floral flavor with a subtle fruity finish. Strong, sweet and fruity pineapple and passionfruit aftertaste.
-Sweetener optional.
-Good tea. Sweet tropical flavor. Not reminiscent of Fruity Pebbles cereal.

Backlog:

I really liked this one from Tiesta Tea. A lovely fruity tone, but, not so fruity that it overpowers the bold Assam tea. Very flavorful. The fruit notes do not taste fake or artificial. A very fun tea, one of my favorites from Tiesta thus far.

drank Kiwi Cherry Bonanza by Tiesta Tea

Backlog:

This one isn’t too bad! I’m always skeptical when I brew a tisane, because I’m never too sure what I’m in for with it, because usually … let’s face it … fruit tisanes like this usually mean way too much hibiscus. I’m not a big fan of the stuff, so, I tend to be hesitant when it comes time to try out a new fruit tisane.

But this one – NO HIBISCUS! Let me say that again: NO HIBISCUS! Yay!

Happy Dance!

And the flavor is really nice. The cherry does not taste like cough syrup, it has a nice, sweet, fruity taste to it. I can taste the kiwi. The overall cup is a little bit sweet and a little bit tart … with more sweet than tart and that’s quite alright by me.

Amoda did good by adding this one to March’s tea box!

Sil

ooh this one sounds tasty!

drank Fireberry by Tiesta Tea
4843 tasting notes

Backlog:

This is a tasty tisane … although I have to admit that I was a little surprised by it. By the name of it, I expected there to be some warming sort of ingredient in it like chili pepper or ginger … but no. It is smooth and sweet and not at all peppery or spicy.

There is a nice balance between tart and sweet here … not so tart that I puckered, but, enough tart to keep it from tasting too overwhelmingly sweet.

Enjoyable … makes a really great iced tea! Here’s my full-length review of it: http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/03/23/fireberry-tisane-from-tiesta-tea/

drank Ginger Sweet Peach by Tiesta Tea
4843 tasting notes

Backlog:

A very nice aroma to the brewed cup. Sweet, juicy peaches! It reminded me of the scent of the warm peach sauce that my gramma would make for waffles! YUM!

The spices were not as obvious in the aroma but they’re definitely there in the flavor. But I like that it’s not an overpowering presence in the cup.

Let this tea cool slightly after you’ve brewed it … it takes a few minutes (give it three to five minutes before you start sipping) to get the flavors to pop. A nice, well-defined note of peach, a hint of melon, and a nice set of spices to this cup. Very enjoyable tisane.

drank Kokomate by Tiesta Tea

This tea is on my list of top 5 faves of all time! And that says a lot since I currently house more than 300 tins of tea!~

I am a sucker for anything coconut, so I was pretty certain that I was going to love this tea and after my first sip, my assumption was confirmed. It has delightful notes of coconut, but still maintains a slightly earthy, mate flavor.

I absolutely recommend this tea for a boost of energy and a flavorful treat… Especially if you are a coconut lover :)

Thanks for a bit of this Liberteas. This was pretty good! Passionfruit, Berry, and tang! It’s a little bit puckery-tart but pretty good! I’m betting it would be even better iced! :)

Cold-brewed overnight and super refreshing first thing this morning! It was half a cup of hot tea that I forgot about, filled back up with more water and resteeped in the fridge, so it was a bit light, but nice!

Sipdown! 807. (Lies, I haven’t added all the teas I picked up from Sil to my cupboard yet…. so that number is probably more like 907, eep.)

Anyhow, this tea is as tasty as I remember. A nice, sweet, fruity herbal with no hibiscus. I wish there was a stronger cherry flavour here, but it’s tasty regardless.

Random question that has nothing to do with this tea: Are you the steepster who has the bonavida gooseneck kettle? if so, is it wonderful and perfect and all the things you want from a kettle? Is there anything you don’t like? and, if you’re the wrong person—sorry!

Kittenna

I unfortunately am not that person! :( And I am not sure who it might be, so can’t even help!

hahahahaha! dinosara, maybe? I’ll hit her up next.

First tea from my Amoda box! I have to say, lovely presentation, and I’m pleased by 2/3 of the box contents. The remaining 1/3 I have a few issues with, but I’ll get to that sometime later.

I was really worried that this tea would be the same as Cherry Kiwi Coconut Fruit by Mahamosa, but I don’t think it is. (Whew, although I do like that one.) Second bonus here is that there’s no hibiscus. Score! So no purple hibby nightmare waiting for me beneath my infuser.

Anyways! The tea. So, 20g of this tea really isn’t all that much, which does kind of suck, because it means limited tasting opportunities. Luckily, herbals are fairly difficult to screw up. I brewed about 2 tsp of this one in 10 oz. of boiling water, and left it for a while… could have left it longer, but I wanted to head upstairs to my room. I estimate it got about 6 minutes.

Anyways, I did just grab a bite to eat, so I’d be better off tasting this with a fresher palate, but I’m so far enjoying it. It’s lightly fruity (I can’t currently distinguish fruit types, but that may be possible next time), and I can definitely taste a hint of ginger, which IMO, is done very well. Enough ginger for flavour that it’s enjoyable, but there’s no harsh bite or strange flavour. I feel like it’s definitely underleafed and/or understeeped, though. Could use more flavour.

I’ll have to try this cold-brewed, as Cavocorax did. At this point, it’s not something that would become a cupboard staple, but it’s a neat tea to have tried, since there are far too few fruity herbals that aren’t hibiscus-laden (and I do like a bit of ginger in my herbals – Teaopia’s Fruity Ginger is one of my faves!)

ooh btw I think I figured out that the Mahamosa one is ESP Emporium Cloud Catcher. But it’s cheaper from Mahamosa if you desire large amounts at once…I have some cold brewing in the fridge that I need to have soon!

Kittenna

Wow… yep, that picture certainly looks the same!! Thanks for the heads up! I still love it brewed up all strong and delicious. I should have some soon; I’ve barely made a dent in the packages you bought.

momo

I used up all that I bought at their physical cart, then bought half a pound after they added it online. I hadn’t used any of it until now, I don’t know how I forgot about it.

Wow! This is so good! I just received this today in my FIRST Amoda subscription box. (And as such, I’m sorry if I am supposed to wait a few days to review it for those expecting to be surprised? I’ve never done this before.)

Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, I’m not so big on fruity teas, or I didn’t think I was, but I NEED TO RETHINK THIS IDEA. I used about half my sample to cold steep it in the fridge for a few hours, and now that I sip it I am blown away.

It’s very delicately fruity and the cherry and kiwi are balanced quite nicely. If it’s not too pricey, I think I’d like to stock up on this – either ordering from Amoda, or diret from Tiesta.

Looking back at it, maybe $15/mo for 60g of tea isn’t THAT GREAT of a deal, but if it exposes me to high quality tea (and surprise tea!) I can justify it that way. :D

Fjellrev

Yeah, the subscription is a little steep for me but they seem to pick really interesting ones!

Courtney

I’ve actually never tried a cherry tea for fear of getting a fake taste, but I love kiwi and fruity teas. Perhaps I’ll give this one a shot.

TeaLady441

:P I didn’t really work the math out that well when I signed up. Or, when I did I factored in the ‘free’ shipping – if I ordered any of those teas from the US I’d probably pay $10 shipping anyway. I signed up for 4 months just to give it a shot. It is pretty exciting to have mystery tea arrive!

And as far as I can tell it doesn’t taste like fake cherry!

Kittenna

NOOOOO you spoiled it for me!!!!

(However… I’m now pretty excited! My box had better arrive tomorrow!)

Kittenna

Also, I figured the cost was worth it to try random new teas :)

TeaLady441

:p Alright, next time I’ll wait a week before I say anything!! At least the other two are still secret. /0\

Kittenna

Ahaha, no worries. Is there hibiscus in this one? The ingredients on the Amoda site appear to indicate that there isn’t…?!

On the downside, I’m hoping this isn’t essentially the same tea as the cherry kiwi coconut fruit tea I have from Mahamosa, and the two fruits and a nut I have from Caraway (which are essentially the same tea).

TeaLady441

No hibiscus! (I dislike it too). Hopefully it’s different enough. I checked and these are the ingredients: Kiwi bits, cherries, apple bits, raisins, carrot bits, ginger bits.

Kittenna

Can you taste the ginger? I don’t recall there being ginger in the other blends, and I’m pretty sure there was coconut. Fingers crossed!

Btw, feel free to log the other teas. Maybe don’t add the bit about them being from the Amoda box, though :D I shouldn’t be on here a great deal in the next while, and probably wouldn’t have twigged at all except that you mentioned it! (Not that I care a great deal about being surprised, anyhow).

TeaLady441

I get a bit of the ginger at the end of the sip!

And thanks for the suggestions. That’s probably work fine, or I could just wait a few days for your box to arrive!

Kittenna

Ok, now that I’ve received my box, I desperately want to write about my teas + commentary, haha. Do you think it would spoil it for anyone else?!

TeaLady441

I don’t know? I tried looking up the previous Amoda teas to see if people I knew had reviewed them and didn’t see anything, but then I missed you. :P So that was a detectivefail.

I don’t know how many subscribers they actually have on Steepster, but I’d like to know what you think!

Kittenna

I think we might be the only two on here. Sil isn’t currently subscribed. I got the 4 months as well, and this is my first box :P This situation could have very easily been reversed! I just brewed up all three, so am probably going to write about them all shortly, haha. It’s irresistible!

TeaLady441

That’s great! Guess I should brew one of my new ones as well!

Also, I’m happy yours showed up so soon. I’m in the same city as Amoda, so I thought you’d have to wait 2-3 days after me!

I didn’t expect to even get this box because I signed up a few days after the deadline. Man, am I happy I didn’t have to wait until April like I thought.

Backlog:

I’m back with a bunch of backlogs! This Blueberry Wild Child is pretty good considering it’s a hibiscus tisane which I normally dislike. The hibiscus is not overdone though, and that’s what I like. There’s enough hibiscus to lend a nice body to the cup and some tartness to enhance the flavor of the blueberry without going overboard. It doesn’t taste too tart nor does it feel too thick or syrupy. (although I would recommend only steeping it for 5 – 6 minutes.)

Currently enjoying a cup of this tisane. This is really nice. I didn’t expect to like it quite as much as I do. The hibiscus is not overdone (which is probably why I like it so much!) I do recommend steeping it for just six minutes in 195F water to keep the hibiscus under control.

The result is a cup that tastes primarily of blueberry – sweet and tart, with notes of elderberry and pomegranate. The apple is barely noticeable but I think it adds a hint of sweetness to the cup that lends balance to the tartier (yes it’s a word, I just made it up) berries in the tisane.

Not bad at all, I enjoyed it. Watch for my review of this tomorrow night on SororiTea Sisters.
