Sipdown (129)!

Thanks Cameron B.!

- Another interesting/somewhat unusual tea that I was eager to try
- Despite it being bagged
- Has a very light, smooth roastiness to it
- Kinda tastes like cooked corn nibblets; like you’d kind of expect it would
- (Side thought; is “nibblets” one b or two?)
- But not QUITE as natural sweet
- Definitely really enjoyed this one

It reminded me a little of Soba Cha, but milder. I did enjoy it and I like how convenient this would be to travel with, but Soba Cha is definitely better though.

Ooh, what an interesting tea. This came from a swap I did a while ago with albertocanfly. It’s definitely an unusual one, and I’m not really sure what to expect. It came in a traditional-style tea bag (the paper kind with the string) and there was a little bit of a roasty scent to it. I followed the parameters from albertocanfly’s tasting note.

It definitely smells like unsalted and unbuttered popcorn, with a little bit of a burnt edge to it. It actually tastes a lot like popcorn also, but there’s definitely a sobacha-like aspect to it as well, almost like peanuts. There’s a natural sweetness that especially comes out at the end. Overall, this is definitely tasty, but I think I prefer sobacha.

wow, that sounds interesting! One of those things where I picture someone sitting around going “I wonder what would happen if I soaked this in hot water?” and then tried it. :D

I love this tea so much! She’s so awesome-she sent me a box of this one for my birthday, since I can’t buy it online. I am saving it for special times haha! It’s such an odd tea, but I really like it. xD

In the birthday package Albertocanfly sent me, she threw in a whole pack of this tea! Really have fallen in love with this one. Trying to save it though since It’s not available online and I don’t have any store around here that carries it. I will savor this tea!
The more I drink it the more I like it, and the more I find myself craving it! It’s delicious! If you like genmaicha-you’ll like this one too!
Bumping my rating on this one!

Got this tea from Albertocanfly, who seemed to really like it.
Since she got me to try genmaicha which I fell in love with, she thought I’d like this one….and she might have been right. xD
At might have steeped this a minute over or 30 seconds over on accident, since it totally smelled like burnt popcorn at first, but the flavor seemed to be okay.
I don’t know why I’m surprised…but it literally tastes like buttered corn.
I kinda thought it would taste more like genmaicha, like salted, nutty popcorn. But it just tastes like corn. Exactly what the name is. I don’t know why I thought any different. xD
The more I drink this one, the more I like it. Like genmaicha, it’s just really weird!
Who would have thought I’d like teas like this. xD
I love corn in general, but in a tea form…that’s just so different.
This tea is buttery and smooth. Has a strong taste of corn.
And yet I find myself actually liking it. I can see this tea really growing on me, like genmaicha. xD

This was my first corn silk tea, and I have to say, it is incredibly delicious!!^.^ Mmmm… it tastes and smells almost exactly like unbuttered popcorn! It seems a bit odd to like a tea that is essentially liquid popcorn, but it is strangely addictive. Mmmm. Found a new, interesting herbal to keep around in my tea stash. Yum, yum!

I’ve never heard of corn silk tea, but it sounds interesting!

albertocanfly

I hadn’t either! Apparently it has quite the health benefits, too…. http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-140-CORN%20SILK.aspx?activeIngredientId=140&activeIngredientName=CORN%20SILK :]
It’s really interesting. Not sure why I haven’t heard of this tea before if it is on Webmd!

TheTeaFairy

drank pu-erh tea (bo-i-cha) by Tea Zen

i just finished 100 teabags during last six months,
it’s korean tea company but they’re manufacturing their products with chinese leaves. I love this tea, not very expensive, strong enough, and it goes well as a milk tea with a very special combination with its original flavor. As itself, it might be too strong if you let your teabag over just 2 mins, the color turns to red, then brown, then vandyke brown.
And with its darkest version, a splash of milk makes it perfect..
not very high quality as a pu-erh tea but since there’s so few genuine pu-erh tea in the marketplace, without all the discussions about pu-erh, it can be the one for everyday pu-erh with good price. clean and strong.
