REGENERATIVE ORGANIC AWAKE ENGLISH BREAKFAST is a reformulation of this blend. Guess Tazo rolled it out in 2022, but I only noticed because of the new packaging. I’m not sure how different it is from the original blend, I definitely have had this before the changed it as Tazo is common in many of the restaurants near me.
I’ve been drinking this for the past month and now matter how I steep it, it comes out too bitter so I generally do add some milk and sweetener to adjust. The malt is strong with this. I know it’s pretty caffeinated but I’ve never noticed my body reacting to caffeine. I’m going to try to pay attention this morning. But I have a feeling the sunshine might get me moving more than the tea.
Flavors: Malty
Preparation
Those who are sensitive to caffeine, beware! A friend of mine gave me a sachet of this back in college when I was trying to pull and all-nighter. The taste was ok, but the caffeine content sent already stressed-out me into a 4-hour fit of tremors. Never again.
Preparation
A smooth basic black tea with very little bitterness. It’s nothing that will get you jumping for joy but the flavours and aroma are rather enjoyable. I preferred a dash of milk with each cup.
Flavors: Malt
Preparation
This is my staple bagged black tea for travel or the office! It brews up strong and malty without no bitterness or astringency. I like it best with milk, but also enjoy it plain.

I’m always brewing this too long: 3 minutes, 2 minutes, 1.5 minutes. It’s all too long. Five minutes (as suggested) is ridiculous. My point here is, whatever I do this tastes oversteeped, full of astringency as if I’m sucking on a cold, used teabag. If brewing this for color, one would dunk it and be done. Perhaps this tea is designed to be steeped in a large mug (I use a 6 ounce teacup) with plenty of sweetener and cream. I’ll admit, it’s a different experience when handled like that, but you can make nearly any black tea work with enough milk and sugar.
I like strong teas, like Irish breakfast, but when tannins overpower I find it very difficult to pull out the complexity of flavor. And, with this tea, there is more complexity than one might expect from a bagged tea available in most grocery stores. There’s a slightly sour, almost citrus favor, some maltiness, and a pleasantly earthy base.
Yep, eg from sbux.
I got on the wrong bus and it’s pouring and I’m wearing sandals and a sweatshirt and so so cold and sore and tired.
So I went the long way around so I could transfer to a bus without standing in the rain. And got sbux. The line was huge so tea it was. And she gave me two tea bags for the price of one, so I guess I look kinda crappy. :)
It’s not perfect, but it’s hot and flavoured and comforting.
So, the Tea Novices (boyfriend and roommate), have done what a lot of us did in our early tea days- that is, buying everything they could get their hands on. Ha! I remember those days. I still even have some of those teas! They are learning, however, what they like and don’t like, and a refining the collection.
This is one of those million things they picked up, and I am not a fan. Nope. This smells nice enough in the sachet, and I love a black tea/fruit blend. But this is bitter, watery, and just generally unpleasant.
However, the Novices seem to love it, so its good that it belongs to them, and not to me. I just will not accept a cup next time I’m here.
This is the only thing I get when I go to Starbucks
They shove two freakin bags in there and it will keep you wired for a bit.
It’s so bitter, it makes you paranoid and amazed that Tazo even makes this.
Pretty impressed with it.
Flavor wise, not really gettin much Bergamot, but it’s black. I add milk to mine for some odd reason, but it helps thin it out.
It really is a nice tea in the morning, but not my first choice.

Backlog:
I don’t often drink RTD teas, because they’re usually way too sweet and taste more like the sweeteners and flavors than they do tea. I also am not fond of the sediment that seems to accumulate at the bottom of the bottle.
But, my daughter brought me a bottle of this tea one day, so I decided I’d give it a try. The first thing I noticed: no sediment at the bottom of the bottle! Bonus.
I was also happy with the ingredient list that was just water, organic Oolong tea, sugar and citric acid. I like nice, short ingredient lists like that.
And this isn’t too sweet. I’ve found that often with Tazo’s RTD teas they are way too sweet but that isn’t the case here.
My biggest complaint is that it’s cold. I find that Oolong teas tend to be more flavorful when they’re served hot. The cold seems to mute some of the beautiful complexity of an Oolong and this just tasted rather boring. I mean, it’s alright. A pleasant Oolong flavor with notes of flower and fruit, but it is missing some of the complexity that I think I’d be experiencing if it were something that I brewed myself and enjoyed while it was a hot tea.
If I were in a convenience store though and I was thirsty and I saw this, I might pick up a bottle based upon the fact that it is not too sweet and it tastes pretty good. It’s refreshing, it’s organic and it’s not an overly complicated ready to drink.
There’s two options for this tea, and I don’t get it. Eenie meenie miney moe.
I didn’t have a chance to make tea this morning, so I got this on break at work. Because it’s a university and exams are over, EVERYTHING but the sbux is closed. :( Sucks so much. All I wanted was a cookie, and I ended up having to get this instead.
It… was tea. I added some milk and a touch of sugar, just because. It did the job, but it really isn’t a favourite.
Basically I’m spending too much time up late in the evening planning a trip to the Kootenays. :) Should be fun. Camping and hiking for 10 days. 10 days without the internet, though. How will I manage?
I don’t like the organic version nearly as much as the original; to me, it isn’t strong enough. But my a.m. caffeine has to bap me over the head with a caveman club.
