There are little chocolate chips in this blend, along with marigold petals and apricot flavoring. This tea seems to get bitter really fast. Boiling water + 1 minute and it’s got a bite. I’ll have to try a lower temperature.
Add milk and honey and this is a real treat. It calms the bitterness and brings out the sweetness of the tea.
This is a nice Oolong tea. A light buttery taste, roasted nut flavor in the background, and a fruit flavor (pineapple-esque) flavor in the foreground. A pleasantly sweet tea with a tartness that hits the palate just before the finish. No astringency.
A lovely Oolong!
I’m curious: The buttery flavor, was it primarily in the first steeping(s)? I’ve tasted that flavor maybe once or twice in a really good oolong, a greener Oolong if I recall. I quite like it.
I want to thank MandyB for this one!
This almost looks like a green and as it cools sort of tastes like a green but a sweeter green! This is very clean and fairly sweet. I can understand the pineapple notes the product description mentioned. There isn’t anything wrong with this tea in my book!
Another MandyB Tea! Thanks again! You totally made my day yesterday!!! I have been looking online for this tea and am having a hard time finding info on it…maybe they are no longer carrying it!? Not sure…
BUT…I am enjoying it just fine! It’s light brown in color and a little bitter but in a good way! Pretty bold. Perfect way to start the day!
Another MandyB Tea!~
The ‘leaves’ are really-really-really thin.
The infused liquid is quite murky and it smells like moss or wet grass of sorts.
The taste is strong and earthy almost along the same thoughts of a gun powder type taste. This is pretty good if you are looking for a powerful green!
I received an AWESOME package from MandyB today! Thanks Mandy! This is the first one I am trying…and enjoying it. It’s earthy yet semi-juicy. It’s masculine – yet a little feminine. It’s Bold but not too bold. Pretty good, indeed!
Preparation
Wow – this was supremely smoky and I couldn’t take but a few sips. To be fair, I’m sick right now, so that may explain my aversion. (Stuffed up nose + smoky fire wood = Sad panda) Not sure if I’d try another Lapsang Souchong… Who knows. I really thought I’d like this one.
Preparation
Dry Leaf: Smells like Flowers and Pop Corn
Wet Leaf: Floral and Vegetal
Liquid: Looks like a green on the verge of white tea color-wise, smells like flowers
Taste: light and fluffy. Floral and semi-sweet.
Would be good for multiple infusions. I will be trying that today. This is a delightful tea.
Preparation
Backlog: Love this tea! It’s so unique and tastes delicious. Whenever I want “green”, I get some of this. Read my review: http://mandybee.wordpress.com/2009/01/16/kokeicha-from-tantalizing-tea/
(this comment is after reading your review.) Ohhh… “this reminds me of matcha”. Now I’m absolutely sold=D I hate general “this is how you brew green tea” directions! I go to www.denstea.com for my Japanese green parameters, but they don’t sell a Kokeicha.:( Did you find your parameters just by experimentation or do you have a source?
http://www.dragonwater.com/product_detail.tf/452_kokeicha_tea.html – They have some.
Not sure of the taste, maybe a little buttery? Kind of a light carmel flavor with BUTTERSCOTCH. Light butterscotch, definitely… wait, isn’t that was carmel and butter IS?
6/10, not great but not bad either.
Would you recommend? Other caramel-y teas you’d recommend? I’m on the hunt…starting to get colder in NYC ;)
I’ll have to think about it and get back to you! This butterscotch wasn’t bad, but I’m sure I can dig up a pretty caramel-y tea from my stash and test it out, I’ll post a review sometime today on it for you :)
Sure thing, Mike! Haven’t had a second all day to post, so I apologize :). Here’s an obvious one from Adagio Teas: http://tr.im/At8P
