lemon myrtle is what this tea is about. the mint, normally a powerful addition to any tea blend, is barely noticeable behind the lemon. (in fact, be careful not to steep this in a plastic mug, as the plastic will smell like lemons for a very long time) enjoy the aroma of lemon drop candy, naturally sweet, soothing experience. add the peppermint, and you have a tea that is good for headaches, digestion, colds, any other ailment…this is a comforting hot tea, and an interesting iced tea for something different! so there you go.
Preparation
This is versatile… as a hot tea, it has a nice black tea base with sweet blueberry, tart blackberry, gentle citrus notes. Very nice. As an iced tea, it is fruity, refreshing, and the hibiscus gives it nice color. Can’t go wrong with this one! There you go.
Preparation
okay, first of all, gunpowder green tea is not my favorite of the green teas. but with that said, if you’re going to drink gunpowder, drink the temple of heaven (pinhead) grade. and i stuck this brand next to two other temple of heavens, and this one was the sweetest and didn’t have any offensive notes to it. i’d have to say it’s as good as it gets, plus it is organic. so there you go.
Preparation
a little bit boring. i mean, the vanilla is nice, the aroma is definitely vanilla, and the black tea is gentle. there’s just nothing here that makes it stand out and be memorable, but if you’re looking for a vanilla black tea, yeah, this is a nice one. so there you go.
Preparation
love this tea. you DO have to add a little sugar to bring it all together, but then, wow, what a dessert tea, what luxury. i was sampling this tea out at a farmer’s market, and a lady sipped it and started shouting to strangers, “everyone, come here and try this tea!!!” after an awkward couple of minutes, i sold out of buccaneer tea. so there you go.
Preparation
I found this tea sold in bulk at a local shop, and it smelled so good I had to snag two ounces. It smells sweetly fruity and almost spicy. And once brewed, is so ridiculously pretty, I don’t even know.
It’s a rich red with just a but of purple. This would be so pretty in a glass teapot, or white cups for company.
Unfortunately it’s too tart for me, and not an awesome fruity tart either. But like. Blackberry leaf tart (which at least isn’t hibiscus tart, I suppose). I can’t really pick out any specific fruit flavors, and the green base is completely lost on me. It’s a good iced tea with a bit of simple syrup (honey would probably also add a nice flavor), but not outstanding.
I wanted more from this than a really photogenic tea.
A friend of mine has been raving about this tea! I picked up some for her around her birthday and got myself some at the same time.
I’m not as enamoured of it as she is. It’s a little muddy tasting despite the bright citrus element to it. I think it’s the combination of this particular rooibos and the yogurt bits that doesn’t sit well with me. It gives it a a cream cheese quality. I had to throw it out. This cuppa is not for me! I’ll have to give my friend the rest of it or maybe save it for the next travelling tea box I’m getting I know some people are fond of this kind of dessert tea.
I’m moving through my little pile of SerendipiTea samples. I’m not sure if I’m super eager to, though, because the past blends haven’t been all that tasty. I feel like most of the blends that have fruit in them end up tasting the same… and it gives me the unpleasant image of all of the tea being kept together in the same big barrel in some warehouse.. not really, I know, but the thought lingers!
The dry leaf smells promising in the little pouch. It’s sweet with a bit of orange and a little something that reminds me of Christmas. Once water has been added, I’m getting a very tart orange liquid Motrin scent… eh.
I’m not getting anything creamy, really. It tastes like warm hibiscus and oranges. I wish that this would be more complex, but this is simply a tart tea with a nasty scent. I wonder if I’m just making bad choices with SerendipiTea samples or if my tastes have changed since trying this brand.
Secret Garden has been a staple in my cupboard for the last 4 years. Staying power like that just doesn’t happen much with me because I tend to crave variety, but I’ve always found this tea to be very soothing. I’ve always liked the combination of rose and peppermint and there is just enough lavender present to add to the flavor, but not be overpowering. The chamomile fits in well with the other ingredients and surprisingly, I can hardly taste the rooibos at all. In fact, I completely forgot it was there until I looked at the ingredient list.
Preparation
I haven’t had this tea for such a long time, but I remember enjoying it. The scent of this tea is of a creamy coconut. It reminds me very much of coconut macaroons — buttery, sweet and just a little bit salty!
Sipping… definitely coconut as the main flavor. It thins out a little bit as the sip continues and leaves a bit of a strange finish on the tongue. It’s not necessarily bitter, but a little bit like coconut + greek yogurt. This isn’t my favorite tea from SerendipiTea.. there’s just something off about it. Then again, I’m not the biggest fan of some coconut teas as they can be over the top. I’d probably like this a bit more if the coconut were balanced with chocolate and vanilla.
My roommate Shwee found a new bakery in her town called Heavenly Buns which apparently has a sign of an angel mooning the pedestrians. She found this tea and thought that I would enjoy it so she sent me a sachet of this.
I wasn’t sure what it was because I didn’t look it up before hand so I brewed it for four minutes. It smelled divine and it brewed up to be this pretty pale pink! Plain, it didn’t taste like much so I added a little bit of sugar to my cup. Then it started to taste a little bit like grapefruit but not quite. Nice and light and mild.
Then I looked it up after finding the store on the label and discovered that it was a blood orange blend. Wow. I thought it would have been stronger than this but this was a very nice light tea. I have an awesome friend who thinks of me when she sees tea.
This is one that I requested/signed off on in my swap with Tunes&Tea. I think it was because the name was fun and it was from SerendipiTea, because I’m not the biggest rooibos fan, though I have found a few I have enjoyed. So mint and rooibos, very simple and yes very refreshing. The peppermint is dominant in the taste but the rooibos grounds it. Nice palate cleansing, which is exactly what I needed right now! I think I shall take JacquelineM’s advice and add honey next time. Thanks!
Thanks for this, Missy and Dylan, wherever you guys are~
I like blood oranges, and I like chocolate. This seems like an odd combination though because blood oranges are like oranges on steroids. I don’t really think they match chocolate because they’re both more tart and sweeter than regular old oranges to me.
Not that it mattered, I could hardly taste chocolate in here. For the most part it was like a blood orange creamsicle in tea form.
It might be better to me as an iced tea, though it wasn’t bad hot. Still I have to say it’s pretty cool that a blood orange chocolate tea was ever even attempted, never would have thought of that myself.
A small tin, the Clairvoyant Tea Tin…its seethrough, of this has been sitting around for some time. I had no idea what flavor it was, I thought it was “Clairvoyant Tea” by Serendipitea. I found out, after brewing and deciding how to describe it. So here goes: “Grass clippings, I’m pretty sure that this is a tin of grass clippings. The tea is all straight, flat, 1/2” pieces just like out of my lawn mower. Its green, with little blue bits (cornflowers)…did I mention grass clippings? Smells green and fruity, tropical, in the tin. Brewing at 185F, the steam reminds me of cranberries, sour fruit. The taste is high quality green tea. Very light, crisp, none of the steeped-athletic-sock mustiness I get from cheap green teas. Oh look, there is a paper label on the bottom of the tin. FIJI, Wild Pineapple, Papaya & Green Tea…really?…."
