Good Earth

Digging through the tea cabinet and trying to clean out. A friend gifted this one to me in a holiday mug last December. Managed to have a few quiet sips before the rest of the house started their day. I steeped it for a long time as there was a fish tank mishap and then a dog needing attention.
For some reason, I saw the word spicy and couldn’t figure out what the spice could be. When I opened the packet, it was very clear. The cinnamon is the most prevalent scent and flavor. I don’t detect any orange or citrusy flavors. It is quite sweet, definitely no added sweeteners needed.
I did just check out their website. Wonder if the company is struggling. Most of the teas on there are sold out and commentors indicate this has been the case for months.

I’ve made an impact on the tea stash this week and working on the last bag from the tea swap months ago. I’ve been trying to avoid cleaning these out too quickly, but it’s time to accept that they are a part of the tea sipdown pile and they must be sipped! It’s cold(er) and rainy today in NE Ohio. I’ve been spoiled with daily walks across the street at the park until today. However, I shall get my fix by heading to the grocery stores before work. I want to take advantage of the weekend, whenever it arrives, and enjoy my time working on yardwork and binge watching the remainder of the Fallout tv series.

Coconut and creme flavouring give a really interesting twist to an otherwise classic Earl Grey tea. They give it richness and depth, but are subtle and don’t conceal the basic bergamot and cornflower character. Tasty and drinkable.

Backlog

Another bag received from the tea swap a while ago. This was less enjoyable, but not terrible. Imagine Big Red chewing gum in a weak state—toward the end of the chew—and that’s what you get with this tea. Sweet and slightly cinnamon spice.

Mango, flowers, leaves, generally very warming and pleasant aroma.
Slightly sweetish taste, with no sourness but with complex fruity and flowery character. Only a trace of green tea in the back, but it’s not a surprise, since it is only b5% of the whole. ANd it’s too bad, because it would gibe this blend balance and even more complexity.
Not bad, but could have been better.

This elderflower and pear tea is pleasant but relatively weak in flavor. The flower and chamomile notes come through somewhat, but pear is inherently a very subtle flavor and does not shine brightly enough here. Still, this tea is enjoyable, even if very light.

I liked the idea of a pear tea but unfortunately the flavor in this one is very weak.

A work friend gave me thjis tea bag to try. The cinnamon really comes through nicely with hints of chai. I did not detect any orange or mint. I would drink again but not buy for myself.

Still an absolute fave. An old friend (we’ve known each other since 1977!) came to stay last weekend. She doesn’t drink caffeine so I introduced her to this tea. She loved it. We went shopping and she bought 3 boxes! I really enjoy it too, and the weather was cold and rainy last weekend. Fall in North Dakota is not especially pretty without trees to turn color, but I still love it. This weekend will be warmer, but we all know what happens on the border of Minnesota and North Dakota after September. Soon it will be true hot tea drinking weather. I can’t wait!

I have not been on Steepster much for the past few months. I found out in June that my cancer has returned and spread to my liver and kidney. I have been and will continue to be in and out of various treatments, scans and doctor visits. The most recent treatment I had was an Ablation of the tumor on my liver. It appears to have been successful so nothing more until December, when I’ll get another scan and see how the liver is doing and see what the three spots on my kidney are up to. All things considered, I am doing really well. I am very much looking forward to enjoying my tea stash this winter.

I went to Walmart yesterday and picked up a box of this tea. It’s ridiculous how fixated I was on this tea. But I was very happy to have a cup last night. I love this tea!

I was talking to a gal at work and she said she’s had it but doesn’t like it. The cinnamon is too strong for her and it gives her mouth a dry feeling. I get that. It is really heavy on the cinnamon. But it is also naturally sweet, and I love that.

I’ve had this as my evening cup for he past two nights. Now it’s gone! cue wild sobs I really like this tea, especially now that it is cold out. I’ve been to two stores looking for it but they do not have it. Grr. It’s not like I don’t have any other teas to drink. But this one is a fave. It is rainy and cold here (and I doubt it will get much warmer for the next 4.5 months) so a nice spicy herbal tea is what I want. I do have some chai teas, but they are black based, so possibly not as good for evening. I will see.

Ah, this is such a nice tea. It is exactly like the name: sweet and spicy. I had this one before bed last night and enjoyed it greatly. Re-steeped for a second cup but a lot of the flavor had gone. This is a pretty inexpensive grocery store tea. I think I paid $3.49 for 20 bags. What a great deal for a tea I really enjoy. I decided to bump my rating because reaaly, this tea is great.

The weather is really turning around here. It was 17 yesterday -ABOVE zero!- and I heard we could hit 40 next Tuesday. Weird, just weird. Not complaining though!

I’ve had this for the past two nights. AFter a spell of lovely warm weather we had over 5 inches of snow and the temps dipped to 5 F last night. Good tea drinking weather. It’s sunny and warm-ish this afternoon (28F) but I may have another cup tonight.

I like this one. It is exactly what it says: sweet and spicy. Warming. a comfort when you are stuck inside not only because of the pandemic stay at home order, but also because of the weather.

I drank the last cup. My tea bags are gone sob I really enjoy this tea on chilly winter evenings when I don’t want caffeine. I really think this is one of the very best bagged herbal teas you can find in a supermarket. I might have to pick some more up.

This tea was a favorite years ago. 30 years ago I was served this when I was staying with a friend in Minneapolis. At that point in my life I wasn’t much of a tea drinker. Probably because to me, tea was Lipton. I’m sure there are plenty of people who enjoy LIpton, but to me it is bitter and astringent. So this herbal tea came as a pleasant surprise.

Yesterday I did my grocery shopping and I saw this tea was on sale for $2.19 a box. I completely ignored my vow to buy no more tea and put a box in my cart. Last night I brewed a cup. Ah. Just as cinnamon-red-hot-candy as I remembered. I just really like this tea.

This tea smelled pretty awesome. I didn’t expect it to be so sweet, so I added sugar. I wish I hadn’t. Boy was it too sweet. The flavor was light and kind of like creamy orange and not very green tea-ish. There was a strange artificial flavor at the end of the sip. I will wait to leave a numerical rating until I can try this tea again. Maybe brewed for a shorter time without sugar, it would be decent. The way I made it, though, I had to pour it out. The flavor had pleasant elements for sure. I look forward to trying it again!

I like this caffeine-free blend a lot more than the Sweet & Spicy Good Night. In that blend, I don’t think I like the mix of dragonfruit flavoring with that strong Big Red cinnamon flavor that’s also present in this tea. This one is also not nearly as drying even with a longer steep time.

Sweet and cinnamon spicy. As for the other ingredients, I can’t pick up on them individually probably because they’re overridden by the cinnamon flavor. Regardless, they seem well blended. This tea is a lot like Celestial Seasoning’s Bengal Spice but tastes… deeper? and fresher.

This is by far my favorite tea. I usually make this at least once a day. Initial sweet taste of cinnamon followed by a nice warming aftertaste.

I’ve had expensive Assam and I’ve had…well, this offering from Good Earth. I rescued a tin of this loose leaf tea from a clearance rack as I wandered the aisles at Sprouts. Pretty much everything else I’ve seen from Good Earth is some wildly exotic or flavored blend. Maybe that’s why it didn’t sell at full price. It’s tea. Actual tea. And it’s good.

I’m a fan of Assam tea to begin with, and this is surprisingly smooth and sweeter than some I have in the cupboard. Just enough of a malty edge to remind you it’s from Assam, this organic tea is one I’ll replace when it’s gone. At full price if necessary.

Bag and brewed, it smells like Big Red chewing gum, so like serious cinnamon flavor. On the sip, it’s a good light level of sweetness with apple-cinnamon but then it finishes pure Big Red and drying. My tongue feels weird. I guess I can taste the dragonfruit flavoring. To me, that’s not something you’d mix with this level of cinnamon since fresh dragonfruit tastes to me like an incredibly light and delicate pear. Part of me likes this tea because of the flavor profile. The other part says wtf because it makes me think of drinking liquid potpourri or a Yankee candle. My uncle loves it with half a teaspoon of honey, though.

This tea was alright, I did not taste many different notes and it seemed somewhat flat to me. I will try others from the brand, just was not the biggest fan of this one.

This is one of my very favorite teas to drink when the weather is becoming colder, when there’s a nip of winter in the air. I love the full bodied aroma that pours out of this in the tea cup, people can smell this as they walk by, and the aroma is too good for people to NOT comment on. This is an outstanding blend. I truly LOVE this one!

I wish that it didn’t have bleached tea bags though, would probably drink this more knowing that it was healthier without a bleached tea bag.

This tea was drinkable but to me it was sweet in an off-putting way

Got this at a coffee shop thinking it was regular matcha and was worried when I saw it had citrus since I don’t like citrus. Although I was pleasantly surprised. I like a few of the other teas this brand has to offer and actually enjoy stevia sweetened teas unlike most people.

Tasting:
-It smells very creamy and orange-y quite reminiscent from my childhood but I cannot place my finger on it . Also the smell reminds me of orange dreamsicle bars and the flavor comes through as that also. I’m mainly just getting sweetness creaminess and light notes of orange. I’m going to have to try this another time with less water and as a latte Yum!.
