Taste tea

The packet said Strawberry Sencha from Frontier Naturals. But I couldn’t find that tea on their site. I do feel that there is some strawberry in this. The sencha is mild and well balanced with a bit of strawberry. This is not a strawberry soda pop tea. This is a nice cuppa for the afternoon; need more caffeine in a.m., no caffeine in evening.

This is my very first chicory…and blech. Not my cuppa. At all. Looking at the title, lemon and ginger, mmm… I like both of those flavors, so together it must taste delicious! I even enjoyed the smell…..and the taste is just veryyyy concentrated version of the smell.. not sure why I didn’t like it…but it ended up going down the drain :’( For a herbal tea, it brews so incredibly dark…strange. Might try this again someday with only steeping the littlest bit of leaves..

This is a nice enough oolong but nothing to be excited about. It has some almond flavors but nothing it wasn’t really satisfying. Sort of a run of the mill oolong tea.

Somehow this got pushed to the bottom of my work droor. I was digging around today and found it and was like, oh yeah! This was really tasty! It was a tad bit of the toasty oolong with hints of almond and a sweet finish. I really enjoyed this one! I will finish the last cup of this first thing Monday!

I haven’t made a note for this in (jeepers) six years, but it has been a pantry staple throughout that time. It is inexpensively priced and absolutely suitable for general purposes, as well as a decent “blank canvas” base for blending. The flavor and caffeine kick are both mild; there’s a little fruitiness going on, and if you squint and think about it very hard, a little bit of cocoa powder on the tongue.

Birthday treat from a kind friend was a gift certificate from my favorite local indie grocery and tea purveyor, which has been burning a hole in my pocket for two weeks. Will be using it to replenish my stock (as well as one or two other favorites).

Haven’t said much about this, but it’s made repeat appearances at the house now—it’s a respectable and decent black morning tea. Flavor strength is right in the middle, maybe pointing a scootch toward the dark/deep side instead of bright/brassy. Takes sloppy steeping OK. Those of you who’ve read more than three of my reviews know that’s a winner for me.

This morning, however, due to cloggy and lumpy spring sinuses, I’m getting banana vibes out of it. An unexpected tea adventure :) It’s me, not the leaves!

Scribbles shared a China black from Tao Tea Leaf that was so deep and rich I fell in love with it…was hoping that locally, I could at least make acquaintance with its peasant cousin.

So I picked this up last run to Fox Farm. It has hints of the toasty cocoa richness of the Tao gold standard, but just hints. All the same, an inexpensive (just over a buck an ounce) lightweight breakfast tea for the summer months.

Based on the smell, I didn’t think I would like this tea at all. While brewing it has a very strong medicinal smell. It calms down a bit and while sipping reminds me or herbal sodas like traditional birch beer, root beer, and dandelion/burdock soda. Some sips taste a bit too floral and soapy, but other sips are clean and herbal.

I received a sample of this from Suziqzer, thanks! I drank some of this last week and actually quite enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I was unable to re-create whatever I did last wee because I just brewed this and had to toss it out. It was over-whelmingly bitter and it was un drinkable.

Reading the name of this tea I got really excited. I love both flavors. Brewed up though this was a little too medicinal for me. I get the lemon form the lemon grass and I get ginger. It tastes like there is chamomile in there. I am not sure why this didn’t work for me. It is a very dark brew which is really surprising. I added some ice and it was okay cold. I really wanted to like this one, but it is not my cup of tea.

This tea is not among my favorites. It has nothing particularly wrong with it. Mild musty taste, some what vegetal. I probably will not buy it again. Plain darjeelings are not my favorite anyway. Luckily, I don’t have much of it.

Nothing special. Just decent Assam.
