I’ve been drinking this tea since I was a toddler. It’s always been a staple in my cupboard and will continue to be so! And even though my taste for tea is far more refined now, I can’t get away from this one. When I drink it I think back to those cozy happy late nights from my childhood. In a sense this tea is a ultimate memory stimulant…if that makes sense.
The tea itself is actually nothing special….just exactly what you expect from a bagged camomile/spearmint/whateverelse blend. But pretty much like everyone else here, since I’ve been drinking it all my life, it’s soothing c: Even teas that are really similar and of much better quality, like DavidsTea Vata Ayurvedic (and really like that one too!), can’t fully replace this one.
I always have honey in it though, and I’m careful not to steep it too long otherwise it ends up tasting stewed. Also, this is the best tea when you’re sick. Really clears the sinuses.
Preparation
I like this tea. Has a great spicy bite to it. Doesn’t fool around and play with your tastebuds but says CHAI TEA and then whispers….a sweet honey note on the end that I love. I drink without milk but would be fine either way. Not an iced tea candidate. Drink steeped for about 4 minutes.
Preparation
I picked up some Celestial Seasoning flavors when I went on a tour of their facility about a 45 minute drive from my home in Colorado. This tea is actually one of my favorites. I steep it pretty strong and add coconut milk (the kind you use on cereal or coconut coffee creamer which is better) to enhance the Thai curry memories that I love. Sweeten with sugar or agave but not honey because you don’t want to detract from the subtle coconut flavor.
Preparation
We enjoyed the tour there too this past weekend…i even won the calendar for answering the trivia question during the tour. Nice perk and loved the teas!
My friend getting over a cold gave me a box so this is what I’m sipping on this afternoon. Very smooth- I’m even able to tolerate the lemon, as I have to be in a mood for lemon in my tea. I wish I had this tea when I was getting over my cold last month!
Preparation
I really tried liking this tea. I really tried. It smells nice and the apple flavor is there, it’s juicy and refreshing. What’s wrong? That damn cinnamon! It’s too overpowering and pungent that borders on “artificial”. I guess I cannot blame them, they do say Cinnamon first in the title. Maybe I incorrectly assumed what I was going to be drinking? I wanted apple first,…..then a little bit of cinnamon next..maybe vanilla to round it out?
Another review said it was like “drinking Big red Gum only with apples”..that’s perfectly states what this tea is about. If you like “Red Hots” or any spicy hot cinnamon candy then this is for you
Oh, well
Preparation
Hey stranger, if you feel like sharing some of this I would gladly take it off your hands. I love cinnamon!
I want to rave about this tea, but sadly, I cannot.
First off, the smell when you open the box really will bring to mind sugar cookies. And during brewing you will start craving sugar cookies.
After the first sip, I wasn’t sure what to think. And after the finishing the first cup I still wasn’t sure what to think.
I ended up making a second & I used a pinch of brown sugar to sweeten it. Nope. Didn’t do it for me. I get the smell of sugar cookies, but not much in the taste of the tea. It’s just plain to me. Nothing special.
I see you are also in NYC. Perhaps we can arrange a trade. My gingerbread spice for your sugar cookie. :) if we do it in person, we can save the postage. Let me know if you are interested.
I saw this displayed at my local grocery store. I’m a bit peeved at them for not having the holiday teas until after the holidays but better late than never. I was hoping for sugar cookie but there wasn’t any.
This needs a loooong steep to taste good. At 5 mins it was pure ginger. Medicinal. I left the bag in as I sipped and then the cinnamon came forward. Mmm cinnamon. Then a sweetness developed. Nice. Needs some other spices to be real gingerbread but this is ok. Not my favorite, but I’ll drink it.
Sorry you didn’t like this one. I loved it. I thought the ginger was the main note, but it was good.
I have Sugar Cookie, but for some reason I haven’t tried it yet….guess that’s what I’m having tonight.
I do love ginger but I’m beginning to think that fresh or pickled is the only way to go. Dried just doesn’t do it for me. :(
This tea was very surprisingly good. The vanilla and the mint-i-ness works so well together. The green tea base actually works very well with this as well! This tea is perfect at work when I can just throw it in my thermos and it won’t oversteep if I get busy or forget about it in there.
I will definitely buy this every christmas for the convenience of work!
This is the one bagged tea to which I look forward every year. I enjoy it’s mild sweetness (I enhance it with honey and milk) but most of all I love the nostalgia of it. This is a core component of Christmastime to me and also one of the first teas I remember purchasing. I like spiced holiday teas a lot (like Mariage Frères’ Esprit de Noël) but this is a nice change of pace, nutty and vanilla and still holiday-rific in every way.
Preparation
I’m about to head out the door to a friends house for a New Years Day Hoppin’ John. For those not in the know, Hopping John is a traditional southern good luck for the new year dish. One of my friends hosts a party each year with hopping john, gumbo, greens, and the most lovely company a hungover woman could ask for.
I’m taking Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride with me since I could use more fluids right now, and water just doesn’t sound appealing, and because I really like Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride. It is rather annoying how much I like it, I’m going to have to stock up before it goes away.
Anyway, the roasted barley, vanilla, it’s all delicious. The downside is that I have to double bag it—the tumbler I’m making now requires 4 bags of tea! It is going to take me no time at all to go through what I have at that rate. The need to double bag is the only drawback to this tea.
Preparation
I love this too!! I can’t seem to find it around here at all this year, though. I’m tempted to order a few boxes online.
This one is good, though somewhat weak. I think I need to double up on the number of tea bags I used. I am surprised the color of the liquor is so light, given that it has roasted barley in it. The smell is like sugar cookies, though much gentler than the smell from the tea bag itself. It also tastes sweet, though that may just be the aftereffects of the bunch of homemade marshmallows that I had. The vanilla sugar flavor of the marshmallows highlights the vanilla sweetness of the tea. Interesting. Even though it has that slightly sweet flavor, I can still really taste the barley—it gives it a warmth and depth of flavor that I really quite like. This makes two of the Celestial Seasonings teas I may have to stock up on before the holiday season is over. Next up to try is the Gingerbread Spice Tea. Can it possibly compare to Candy Cane Lane and Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride? I don’t know. Part of me hopes not, because I’m running out of room in my tea cabinet (okay, I ran out of room a while ago. You know what I mean.)
