Butiki Teas

Absolutely love this tea.

This is good. A lot less bitter than I was expecting. My favourite part is the citrus which is decidedly orange. I really love how the orange elevates the tea and really brightens it up. I quite enjoy sipping this in the morning before I head to work. A solid offering from the now defunct Butiki Teas.

A solid tea with a lovely pumpkin flavour. I also detect a spice in here, cinnamon or clove? Very Autumnal feel to it. The butterscotch is so light in the aftertaste that you hardly recognize it and the coffee is practically non-existant. The white tea itself, shfts back and forth from smooth to bitter, depending on any given sip. Overall, it’s good. Not my favourite from Stacy but a stable offering nonetheless.

Lots of dried fruit (def. distinctly cranberry) and not a lot of almond. I think this blend has not aged as well as could be hoped. It is tasty, but I’m happy to have finished this sample off.

First cup gone. Steep second for 5 minutes or so. After I pull the basket strainer from the cup, little oil blobs rise to the surface of the tea, burst and spread into iridescent splotches. When I take a sip, they disappear obviously into my mouth. Set the cup down, the blobs rise again. bloop.

By the way, this is stuff is really quite nice. Prettiest blend I’ve ever seen. Soft and flowery taste. It’s almost like a glazed lemon loaf. Probably the only Butiki tea I will ever get to try.

Another much beloved tea that I’ve been (very!) slowly drinking through my supply of.

It’s such a delicious, steady drink throughout a long session, gradually revealing it’s lovely buttery flavours, with underlying hints of that mature, smoke-adjacement note coming through. Delicious. I still have enough for at least a few more long sessions and I’ll treasure it whilst I do!

So it turns out this is the Puerh that I’ve been merrily sipping away at for most of this year!

It’s really very delicious. Full of stone fruit, honeyed flavours that interplay with that lovely, sweet, sheng bitterness/edge. It’s a real delight to drink, producing cup after cup of lovely amber tea, and has gotten me nicely through this rather busy spring!

Peppermint tea is always my “go-to” cup. I find that when I don’t know what else to have and I just can’t make my mind up, peppermint is the answer! It always makes me happy. This is a good one. Nice, clear, bright peppermint flavour with a hint of sweetness. For me, the chocolate in this just comes accross as the sweetness that I just spoke of. Personally, I can’t really pinpoint it as “chocolate” per se which is a tad disappointing but it makes such a welcome caffeine-free option when I spend so much time drinking mostly green tea.

This tea is gorgeous. There’s no other way to describe it. The smell of the dry tea leaves were promising and when steeping, the heavenly aroma was front and center. At first sip, I was in love. Fresh, juicy, sweet, luscious grapefruit in a beautifully light coloured liquid. So mild, so smooth, so soothing. I couldn’t ask for anything more. As perfect a tea as I’ve ever had and well deserving of my highest rating of any tea on Steepster so far!

The raspberry flavour certainly comes accross which I really enjoy. Tastes like real dried raspberrries, no artificial or chemical strangeness in here! I love quality teas and I can certainly tell the difference compared to cheap teas. I am not a tea snob but I do seem to delight in a more refined cup now and then. This one is good but it’s not one of my favourites from Stacy. The fruitiness is my favourite part but I find it a tad bitter and astringent overall and I can’t really detect the cashew. What I do detect though, is a mellow floral note which is lovely. Re-steeps wonderfully!

Sipdown! 271/365!

Er, whoops. Didn’t realize I’d only tried this once before. But I decided to try latte-ing it tonight, but I used coconut milk and the flavours are stronger than I intended, so while it’s delicious, it’s probably because it’s basically coconut milk + cow’s milk + maple syrup with just a hint of tea. I’m picking up virtually zero blueberry (I couldn’t smell it either) – ok, actually if I taste really hard, I can sense some – but there’s not a ton of flavour despite brewing it pretty strongly. Oh well, wasn’t a favourite anyhow.

Also: current tea count is at 932 (some duplicates, yes, but fewer than 100 I believe). This is still missing a large chunk of my teas (notably Butiki and Anne’s 52teas) plus the vast majority of swap samples I have. On the plus side, I’m sipping down a lot of stuff?
