Caffeine free, good quality tea company, only 35 calroies (very lightly sweetnened). Overall, I just love trying these because of the low calorie content. That’s most of the reason I avoid juices.
Unfortunately I saw the lemongrass and peppermint and figured this would be fine, but I’m not a fan of the flavour of the hibiscus. It is slightly sour, but rounded out with the cane sugar. The hibiscus is fruity and a tiny bit floral, but reminds me of the flavour of cranberry. The peppermint is very light, the lemongrass is quite nice and citrusy with notes of hay. Definitly not my favourite of the flavours I’ve tried, but not bad by any means.

The best bought iced tea I’ve ever had! Very refreshing, slightly sweet, fruity, rooibosy, this drink has it all! I like that it is only 35 calories a bottle (cane sugar), but doesn’t use any artificial sweeteners.
Flavors: Citrus, Citrus Fruits, Lime, Spearmint, Sugarcane, Sweet

I told myself I wasn’t going to buy any more teas until I make room in my tea cabinet Plus, I haven’t found another job yet after being laid off, so I should be more frugal with my tea habit. However, I couldn’t resist this one! I love Earl Grey. Caramel (and anything sweet) is high on my list too. I found this one at the local World Market store. The price wasn’t unreasonable. It cost $10 for a little under three ounces.
The packaging was a very simple sealed bag. When I opened it up, a sweet caramel and coconut smell emerged. The dark tea leaves were peppered with cornflower petals, citrus peels, and, I assume, coconut chips.
I steeped the tea at 212 degrees for five minutes as suggested on the package. The brewed liquor had a gold color. The aroma was sweet, with caramel as the dominant characteristic.
From the very first sip, the tea had a smooth and well-balanced rich taste, comprised of MOST of the claimed ingredients (caramel, flowers, coconut, and citrus). Oddly enough, one of the ingredients implied in this blend’s title was not easily distinguished – BERGAMOT! The aftertaste was gentle and brief.
Usually, I knock off a few points when a featured ingredient is missing from the flavor. But, the tastes that did exist were so good and smooth that I didn’t care this time.
This is a very good tea. I do recommend it. Although I drank it at breakfast, it could very easily become a favorite afternoon tea too.

I picked up a package of this tea on an impulse while at the grocery store. The package says:
“Metabolism boosting green teas have shown to aid with weight loss. This powerhouse has been carefully blended with sweet orange and ginger. A little piece of heaven. Soft and smooth with powerful health benefits. also great iced.”
It sounded good to me and I bought it.
I prepared this tea today. While I can’t comment on its metabolism boosting claims I can definitely say this:
The clean aroma of citrus peel greeted me as soon a I opened the package. It smelled mighty good. I decided to make a full pot.
After steeping, I poured it into my mug and took a whiff of it. It was fairly subtle. Quiet, actually, with just a faint scent of ginger under the oranges. It seemed good.
I began to drink. It was pleasant, no bitterness , but nothing spectacular, either.
I drank the entire pot over several hours. I had it both hot and iced. As I said, it was pleasant but not the best by any means. Yes I will finish using the package, but no, I would not buy it again.

Interesting! I recently tried Buddha Leaf for the first time too. I think it was the Caribbean/coconut one that I took. Same thing: it was pretty alright, but nothing special. Prolly wont be getting it again. I guess we shouldn’t expect too much from grocery store tea? Idk lol.
Maybe we could swap a bit of each of our Buddha Leaf teas so we can try them without wasting more money, ha!
Lol not at all! I think you’re thinking of Safeway. A few of those have starting closing down (I think). IGA is relatively newer, more organic-oriented.
Mookit you are not at all rude. Kirkoneill, there are a lot of IGA stores in BC. Also a lot of Safeways. About the Buddha Leaf teas – there are so many wonderful teas out there, we should all be drinking them and not these ones. We are probably paying more money for the fancy packaging than we are for the actual tea!
Study time tea. Not sure why I felt like pulling this tea out today. I was actually looking for more of an energy pick-me-up, but this is an herbal tea. I haven’t tried it in a long time now, though, so I kind of wanted to give it another shot.
Tea brews a dark fruity red, but the aroma is less poignant than I remember. It’s a lot weaker than last time, or many I am just remembering incorrectly. If I sniff from close up, I can catch mostly just the coconut, apple, and hibiscus notes in the aroma. I added a few pieces of rock sugar to it, because I remember feeling like the tea was quite heavy on the tart/bitter hibiscus. Hopefully the sugar will help balance it out.
First sips are promising. The sugar is definitely helping, because I can still feel some of the sourness, but would be quite stronger without the sweetener. Quite a fruity tea overall, with lots of apple and berry notes coming in through the flavour, and definitely lots of hibiscus. Still, it’s just okay. Though the sugar helped it a bit, the blend itself is not THAT enjoyable, though I feel satisfied enough with my choice today to drink it peacefully.
It’s been a super busy weekend + start to this week, this is the first time I’ve actually sat down at my home computer for at least a few days. The Vancouver Tea Festival happened on Saturday, and it was a pretty big affair. There was hundreds of people there all throughout the day, and it got pretty packed. A bunch of big name and small name vendors were there, like Just Tea, Amoda Tea, Tea Sparrow, DavidsTea, and a bunch of others. I was there from 1-6 helping tea vendors get hot water and helping people at the reception desk. Most of the time I was able to just wander the floor and sample lots of tea from the various vendors, which was pretty cool. Wize Monkey was there as well, sampling coffee leaf tea. It was interesting, but not really my thing. It tasted like musky, slightly coffee-like light black tea tea, and since I hate the taste of coffee, it wasn’t my favourite sample at the festival. What WAS my favourite was White Coconut from Amoda Tea, but unfortunately they sold their last bag of it very early on. Looks like other people loved it too!
I got this tea from Buddha Leaf yesterday on my lunch break. I’ve been eyeing these these teas at IGA for a while now, and I’ve decided to try this one out. It tasted significantly more sour/fruity than I expected. The smell is very sweet and coconutty, which tricked my taste buds into expecting a sweet-tasting tea. Lo and behold, what a shock they were in for! Apart from the sourness, I did get hints of pineapple and a sweet coconut aftertaste. The flavours blended a bit better as the tea cooled down; it didn’t taste as sour after. I will try to add a bit of rock sugar to it next time, or maybe steep it for a shorter amount of time. It was an OK first try, hopefully next brew will turn out better.
