Excellent staple tea. Great any time of the day. Not as sharp as many black teas, a very smooth but robust taste; you know you’re drinking black tea. Best drank with a spot of milk and honey.

Great soothing tea. Smoky, earthy, nutty flavors. Has the effect on the missus and I of inducing a coma-like sleep. Best drank with a spot of honey.

Because of the spices I measure this by the teaspoon instead of weight. 1 heaping teaspoon steeped for 5 min in purified boiling water or simmering milk, I like chocolate milk. Serve unsweetened.

For a dirty chai, add 2oz cold brewed coffee concentrate to 4oz boiling water or simmering milk. You can also add hot cocoa mix added after steeping.

There’s good chai, and there’s bad chai. This is bad chai. Something is really strong in it, and it’s something I obviously don’t like a lot of. Almost bitter. There isn’t “chai” in the name, but this is definitely a chai tea. But if that’s what you want, do yourself a favor and buy one of their actual chai teas. This is a redundant waste of product space in my opinon- I’d rather they take this out and put something more interesting and unique in it’s place.

To make it chilled, make a large batch using as little water as possible to make a concentrate, chilling, then using milk to fill the liquid discrepency. If desired, add proper amount of coffee concentrate for the amount you’re making and reduce water/milk that amount according to compensate for the coffee. If serving it over ice, make ice cubes from more tea or tea steeped in milk. I prefer it blended when iced.

Oh wow, that sounds so good, Caramel apple creamer! Where the heck did that come from!! :D Must add a BAM! to Masala.

Cofftea

It was coffee mate brand I believe. (liquid)

Good basic chai. Nothing overly special. I buy this mainly cuz of the frequent cup points program they have.

For those that aren’t big on matcha, here’s another drinking chocolate I just made:
1/3 c. milk (chocolate or plain)
3TB drinking chocolate mix
1 heaping teaspoon of your favorite chai
1 packet (individual serving) instant coffee
1TB spiced rum creamer (pumpkin spice would also be killer)

Heat milk til bubbles start forming on the surface and add chai. Steep for 5 min and strain. Add chocolate mix, instant coffee, and creamer. Mix completely, pour into your favorite bowl, and drink up!

2.25g steeped in only 2oz purified water. (just enough to cover the leaves). Add 4oz milk and 1 TBS Spiced Rum creamer. Makes a great winter drink for those who don’t drink alcohol. And much healthier for children than hot cocoa! For extra chocolate flavor shave 1oz 100% dark chocolate, add to the milk, and melt. Add chai concentrate.

3rd infusion: 7min

Hmmm… lighter than normal for a 3rd infusion of this tea in all 3 points of the tirfecta (aroma, liquor, and taste). I had this w/ pancakes this morning and didn’t want a heavier tea so I just steeped it in water and, even though I RARELY sweeten my tea, added a tiny drizzle of maple syrup to echo the pancakes. YUM!

I wanted to see what chocolate and rose taste like so I steeped the only chocolate tea I had, this, as directed (it’s a 2nd infusion so 6 min in boiling water) except I used 2.25 g of tea and 6 oz of water instead of 8 then used that to steep a tea bag (2nd infusion also) of The Republic of Teas Get Relaxed! for 8 min. The 1st infusion of the chai was used in a dirty chai so the little coffee that remained gave it a little depth and the rose from the Get Relaxed gave a flirty undertone that was slightly floral but no where near perfumey- I LOVE IT!

I was craving a dirty chai misto, so I grabbed my chocolate chai.

3oz double strength premade coffee, boiled used to steep 2.25 g of tea for 5 min. Instead of placing my ingenuiTEA right on top of the cup I was going to drink out of, I placed the tea concentrate in a pan, added 3oz cold fat free milk and heated it up again and then poured the dirty chai misto in my cup and enjoyed!

Good chai… but wait a minute… I just looked at the tin… this is supposed to be a chocolate chai??? The chocolate flavor is completely non existant and bordering on false advertising. If you add milk, make sure it’s chocolate milk. A great disappointment from a company w/ otherwise wonderful products.

Delicious tea! The nutty taste of the rooibos and the vanilla compliment each other perfectly! I like to add honey to mine to give it that little something extra.

Sometimes I don’t want my palate challenged, or a finicky steeping ritual, or a lot of nuance. Sometimes, I just want a really good, satisfying cup of tea. Now, please.

This one has a deep tea perfume, a dark color that promises and delivers a strong tannic flavor. Tannic meaning it tastes like tea – good, honest, no fussiness about it tea. I wrap my hands around my mug and inhale deeply before each sip. Ahhh – tea.

Wait, the pot is empty already?!!

“Why is the tea always gone?” ;) Just out of question do you get the supposed ‘peppery’ taste with this tea?

Cynthia Carter

There is a puckery feeling in my mouth after drinking a cup of this tea, probably from the tannins, and I think that sensation plus the strong dark flavor may be what folks are detecting as “peppery.” As in black pepper, not chili pepper.

Drank this as an after dinner treat with almond wafers – the smooth earthiness was just right.

Curse Adagio and their samplers! I like all of the teas in their black sampler, and am beginning to panic now that I am getting low on a number of them. How to choose what to order next?

takgoti

I run into the same problem with samplers. Damn the sample sets! DAMN ALL THE SAMPLE SETS!

Jillian

MOAR samplers? ;)

Cynthia Carter

Yes, I could buy more samples, but . . . it makes me feel like such a tea tramp.

I ♥ NewYorkCiTEA

I heart samplers.

Bah, think of it as free (tea) love. ;)

drank Cream by Adagio Teas

A dozen years ago, I was very enamored with this Adagio blend; so much so, I bought a large tin that took years to deplete. I’ve revisited it with a little sample passed along by our CuppaGeek friend Nichole and I think the love affair is over, although I didn’t mind a short date for old time’s sake. Still sweet, still smells sweet and creamy, but the flavoring has a chemical whang to it.

…at least I THINK that’s what I’m drinking. My work tea storage leaves a lot to be desired, and these unidentified bags were squooshed down in the bottom of the tin in a zip-lock baggie. Hey, it’s warm, and a little sweet—-any port in a storm; literally. Raining kittens and cold and damp and just above freezing.
