1598 Tasting Notes
I drank a lot of tea while TK was napping because I wanted to sit in the quiet and read a book, but it was a LOT and I was starting to feel overcaffenated. Time to throw in a rooibos!
Thanks VariaTEA! This is not an everyday tea for me, but when I’m in the mood for it, its quite nice!
I just realized I have 168 teas currently in my cupboard. I could probably drink 18 sipdowns in the next week, right? That should be possible!!! Time to clean up some little samples before they go stale!
Sipdown!
Idk, what’s up with me but I’m detecting a Ceylon base in this, along with some delicious chocolate blueberry. I noticed Ceylon in another tea too so I’m wondering if that’s coincidence, or if my brain is just SUPER observant today.
ThIs is tastier than I remember. Maybe I over leafed it? Either way, that’s the end of it…
(168) – might be difficult to get to 150!
Aisling of Tea had this and it caught my eye because I ALSO live in Toronto.
What do Toronto Nights taste like?
I probably wouldn’t say they tasted like green tea with almonds and cinnamon and citrus, but apparently RiverTea thinks it does. This is a nice light tea, and the flavouring is not overly strong – I find it a nice contemplative cup for what would be my after dinner-cup if I had actually eaten already. And I wouldn’t say no to drinking more, but I’m not sure this is one I’d crave often. Maybe in the late spring, in the evenings, when I’m sitting in the backyard watching the little squirt run around in the grass… And maybe if it’s iced.
Rob Ford would not taste like this. :P
And the rest of this is being set aside for Sil!
(rating is 79 because I like the cup, but don’t see I’d crave it often. )
Preparation
I couldn’t even imagine what Rob Ford would taste like?!? Yuckie and ridiculous at the same time. Ha ha.
Rob Ford would taste like cocaine, cheap booze, and his wife’s…Ahem, since he’s got “plenty to eat at home.”
I hate Rob Ford. Did you hear he’s being “bullied” by the gay community?
We asked Gabriela at RiverTea about the name when we ordered and this is what she told us: “For tourists, especially from Europe there is this vision we have about the night life in Toronto…sparkling, full of life.”
Thanks for the slight image, Cavo, and then an extra thanks to aisling of tea for colouring in the rest of the image with TECHNICOLOUR. Good god.
While I’m sad to see the last of this cup, I really am thankful that MissB was able to send me some. I’d never tried anything from Whispering Pines, but the samples she gave me were all very good. Too bad I am overspent on tea orders but maybe in April I’ll be able to place an order?
This is such a nice gentle and refreshing tea. Maybe I’ll turn into a sleeping bear afterwards, caffeine or no. :P
Preparation
Mmmm. This is very good too, but in a different way than Dolce Vita. It’s not as smack you in the face with fruit, but instead the mango and vanilla and cinnamon all coalesce together into something very relaxing and tasty. The cinnamon gives it a bit of a kick at the end of the sip to liven it up a little too.
I should try cold-steeping this!
Preparation
Oh, this is the best way to start a Friday! It’s so freakin’ creamy and full of raspberry. Slightly tart raspberry but, wait for it, there’s NO HIBISCUS. I really love this tea.
I should probably leave this at the office but I just got it and I’m so excited and I’m not going to be surprised when at the end of the day I stuff all my new teas into my purse to stuff onto my tea shelves at home. Why do I even order tea for the office? :P Seems lik my new teas stay at home, and my small samples get smuggled into the office for sipdowns. But it works?
Anyway this tea is OMG raspberry yes.
Preparation
I didn’t think so – it mostly added to the creaminess. (Unlike some coconut oolongs I’ve had there were JUST coconut – this is far more subtle).
Shopping listed! and also, I’m glad you can taste the raspberry here-often, the coconut flavouring can be overwhelming.
I’m so happy ifjuly sent some of this way! I had a few sips, and then added it to my shopping list. Yes, this is a good tea. Even though it has a doofy horse on the tin. :P
It’s warm, and bready, and there’s a bit of honey, and it makes me think of bread out of the oven with a little butter and something sweet on top of it. It’s really good. Very smooth mouthfeel. Warm, comforting taste. No one has been exaggerating with these reviews. There is NO conspiracy to make you go out and buy this tea!
I want to go buy this tea. I’ll have to coordinate with Sil because $10 shipping to Canada is TOO MUCH for one tin. I was hoping they’d offer a shipping discount sale as they are wont to do from time to time.
I keep drinking amazing teas all day with multiple infusions. I’m only on tea 2 for the day – hahaha
Flavors: Bread, Honey
Preparation
This tea is suited “For Tiger-Taming, Early Mornings, and Getting on with it.”
Yes please! I definitely need some of that – we are going to switch our drivers license over and start the process of transferring the car, and maybe get Ontario health cards too… Uugggh. I hate bureaucracy stuff. I totally need some tiger taming.
This tea helps me feel a little prepared for the day; it’s rich and dark and beautiful. OMG. I get malt, and honey and maybe even a little bit of a spice, like nutmeg or cinnamon that adds a little but of sweetness against all this malt.
Wow. It’s incredible.
Preparation
Thanks again JustJames for sending this to me so long again. I don’t have much left but I really like it. I keep forgetting how good it is, but when i drink it I get coffee and raspberry and nuts and it’s just freaking perfect.
I did drink this after finishing my coffee because I wanted to make sure I was super awake and it did the trick. Maybe too awake. Gotta get off the tumblr now and start doing some actual work.
Hello Wednesday!
This tea is super high on my wishlist! I will probably cave eventually and get a huge DAVIDsTEA order, and just pay the ridiculous shopping fee ): I want so many of their teas, though, I’m sure it’ll be worth it :D
18 sipdowns is certainly manageable. I have faith in you. And I go through phases where I don’t want this tea but when I am in the mood and have a cup, I am always surprised at how much I enjoy it.
